3 "What we've got here is a failure to communicate"
  1. I think it could work if you were able to suggest it as the manager to the board just like the other club objectives in the game and have it be removed whenever you want. Also, my biggest issue is that even with the current club objectives put in place, the staff seems to ignore it and not follow it strictly like clubs Athletic Bilbao or C.D. Guadalajara do. It would be nice if once the policy was put in place that every staff in the club follows it, similarly to how the current hard-coded teams behave. If wanted, the policy should be able to be removed by request of the manager or perhaps if/when the manager leaves the club. I also think what you mention is a way it could be implemented as well, like if a team were relegated maybe the owner decides that they want to implement signing players of the same nationality of the club, and maybe changing it once they stabilize or find success. There can be many different scenarios an owner may want to add this type of signing policy.
  2. That could definitely work as an idea. I think it would be nice to be able to suggest it to the board. There are definitely managers in real life that have certain visions or policies, and the board/staff respect it. This carries over to both staff and player signings. Usually, it is determined in real life by how much power is given to the manager vs. the Director of Football, but they at least share ideas or feedback. It doesn't necessarily have to be a permanent thing, but however long the manager stays at the club or wants the policies in place. For example, a lower-tier team may want a domestic policy in place, but as they grow bigger or more successful, they may want to change their policies to reflect that. Regardless if this suggestion is ever put as a feature or not, they should definitely look at how the club visions/identities behave in the game. For example, you have "Do not sign players over the age of 30", "Sign players under the age of 20", "Sign players of a certain nationality", or "Sign players under the age of 23 for the first team" are all in the game currently, and these types of objectives can be followed manually, yes, but AI staff always appears to ignore these objectives or visions, it seems, half the time. It is possible to be done manually, definitely, but these are people in the FM player base that may not want to deal with transfers, or even at the very least, transfers for youth/reserve/B teams. The same can be applied to staff signings itself.
  3. Yes, I have seen these posts before; however, teams that are hard-coded, such as Athletic Bilbao or C.D. Guadalajara, are very few. It would be nice to be able to achieve this with popular teams like Real Madrid or Manchester United, or a personal favorite team of the individual user. If there are others, it's likely they're buried somewhere in the lower divisions or are extinct. Additionally, I prefer to manage playable teams without using an editor. I hope that in future FM games, a feature will be added to replicate how these hard-coded teams operate and behave, with staff actually following the club's transfer policies. While it's possible to replicate this manually, it is much more challenging compared to the hard-coded teams. Some of the FM player base prefers to focus on the non-transfer aspects of the game, allowing their staff to handle any transfers.
  4. This idea is interesting and would definitely give the game more character. The problem I have with the supporter or owner objectives is that they do not function like the hard-coded teams. For example, if you manage Athletic Bilbao, it is impossible for you and your staff to sign players outside the region. However, if I were on a team like Bayern or Man City, and there was a policy/objective such as 'Sign players of [a specific] nationality,' my staff would ignore this policy and sign players from any nationality they choose. I can also sign any players I want. The only consequence I might face is an email stating that the objective was failed, and nothing happens afterward. I think it would be interesting if we, as the manager, could request a policy like that of Athletic Bilbao or C.D. Guadalajara and have the staff actually follow it, akin to these hard-coded teams where it is impossible to go against the policy. You should be able to request a transfer policy to only sign players of a certain nationality, region, or language. In real life, directors of football and heads of youth development would typically respect these preferences, aligning with managers' inclinations towards players who are either local or fluent in the local language. Adding this feature would provide an opportunity for saves that are not only more interesting and realistic but also more satisfying.
  5. Hello, Sorry in advance if this has been recommended already or implemented in some way, or if it's not possible to implement. I would like to recommend a feature that would allow us to implement an Athletic Bilbao or C.D. Guadalajara-style transfer policy, making the game behave similarly to the ones that are hard-coded in the game. You could allow the player (manager) to request its addition to the Club Vision. Additionally, it could have the chance to be added when a new Chairman/President is elected, or when the club is sold to a different owner. I understand that there is a board culture aspect, which includes 'Sign players of Nationality' as an option, among others of that nature. However, this does not behave in the same way as hard-coded policies do. Currently, my staff and I can still sign players outside the transfer policy, a scenario that would not be possible with hard-coded policies. From my experience, I may receive an email indicating the owner/chairman is disappointed with my efforts to achieve the club vision, but there are no further repercussions. This aspect also does not significantly impact how my staff behaves, as they often ignore the policy or vision. This is particularly challenging in a save where I let my Director of Football handle signings more often, as they do not adhere to this policy. This would likely also include the Head of Youth Development, as there may be youth signings from other nations or outside the desired transfer policy, specifically in cases where I may want players only from one city or area, as in attempting to achieve something like that of Athletic Bilbao. I believe this feature would enhance realism or immersion for those wanting to follow such a policy while also allowing us to delegate job duties, offer the opportunity for more interesting and challenging saves, and provide more satisfaction by allowing us to achieve such a policy with a club of our choice. Thank you.
