  1. And.... sold Well this could be good news. And no. Well thanks for taking the job.... and not putting any money into the club. Awesome. Our goal is to stay in the National League. I mean if that's what they want and it means I have a job, okay.
  2. Sale Rumors This is getting serious.
  3. January in Review Schedule We thought the turning point was the victory we finally secured to end the non-winning streak.... and we were wrong as it only got worse. Literally nothing is going right at the moment. Table 12 matches remain. We are solidly mid-table. We're 12 points from a playoff spot and 15 points from the drop-zone. This is where we need to stay but with our recent form, I'm very concerned about continuing to drop down the table. NL Team Stats NL Player Stats Gulls Attacking Data Gulls Defending Data Finances At least we made a little cash this month.
  4. Match Thirty-Four You've given up 11 goals in the past 2 matches. What's gone wrong? Right now, everything. I.. I can't make excuses for this. It starts with me. It starts at the top. Whatever we are doing right now isn't working, so it's up to me to go back to the drawing board and find the right solution. And then it's up to the boys to go out there and prove this isn't the real us.
  5. Match Thirty-Three Is this one of those matches you take the good with the bad? I'm not sure I agree with that. Yes, I'm happy we broke out and scored a few goals but that doesn't make up for what we did on the other side of the ball. Giving up 6 goals is never going to be acceptable no matter what we do. Even if we had scored 7 and won I'm not going to look past giving up 6. Just can't do it.
  6. Match Thirty-Two A Victory after 9 straight without a win must feel good. It's definitely a step in the right direction but it's nothing if we don't back it up and continue to make improvements.
  7. News Maybe he'll just go away.
  8. Match Thirty I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like that before. Down 3-0 with time running out and you go out and score 3 goals in stoppage time to somehow walk away with a draw. Thoughts on what you just witnessed? Don't pinch me. I don't know how to explain it but maybe this is a turning point. Maybe. One can hope. We just looked down and out for most of that match but somehow something just clicked there at the end and we just took over. 3 goals in 4 minutes, no I don't think I've ever seen that either.
  9. FA Cup Third Round So we already know you're not a fan of moral victories but you'd have to admit you acquitted yourselves pretty good out there today. Yeah, I'm proud of the way my boys reacted in this match. We've not had a good run here in the past month but we came to play and gave Sheffield everything they wanted, I think. They got some good shots off but we held our own defensively. Unfortunately on the other end we just couldn't get anything started but that was partly due to the fact that I knew we had to stay back a bit on the ball and play more cautiously. I told the boys after the match that I was proud of the way they performed and they deserve praise from the supporters for how they played today. It does put an end to your run in the FA Cup, disappointed? No, not really. Being honest we maybe beat Sheffield once in a hundred matches right now... some may argue that might not ever happen, some might say maybe we win a few more than that. I am a fan of any given Sunday... but being real, they're just a far superior club at the moment, and so would anybody that we ran up against from this point on. That's not taking away from my boys or how good I think we can play, but just facts on where we stand compared to the competition. We've already proven we can hang with a couple of clubs above us but suggesting that we're going to consistently beat a Premier League club at this point, that's a big ask. So no, I'm rather happy with what we've done rather than being disappointed.
  10. FA Cup Third Round Preview You're on what can only be considered a bad run of form lately. You've won just 1 of your last 10 matches. However, you've been pretty good in the FA Cup having defeated Queens Park in your last match and MK Dons before that, 2 clubs that most would have considered heavy favorites against you. Can your run continue here against Sheffield United of the Premier League? This is obviously going to be a very tough match and as you said we have not been playing well lately. But if we can't get up for this then we might as well just pack it up and go home. We're going to be in front of their supporters and it's an opportunity for my boys to play in a big match atmosphere in a large stadium that many have never played in before. I can tell you we're not just going to lay down and give them a win. We're going out with a fight, win or lose.
  11. December in Review Schedule So definitely not an ideal month. We did win the FA Cup... then lost in penalties to a team we probably should not be losing to in the FA Trophy. And that sparked a 6 game skid where we didn't win a game in league play.... earning 4 draws and 2 losses. Table This skid has obviously lead us to dropping down the table... 7 points off a playoff spot now. NL Team Stats NL Player Stats Gulls Attacking Data Our attacking is very average at the moment. Gulls Defending Data Our defense hasn't been much better. Finances I guess at least our finances are slightly improving.
  12. Match Twenty-Seven You are currently on a 5 game skid where you haven't won a game in league play and in fact have only won 1 in your last 8 matches. Predictably this has lead to you sliding down the table pretty rapidly. What's gone wrong and can you turn it around? No excuses but injuries have taken their toll. We've been hit pretty hard with mutiple quality players going down at one time and it's understandly lead to some guys getting pretty tired out there because we just don't have the depth to have 5 or 6 players out at a time. But a lot of clubs have to overcome that so if we use that as an excuse it's just taking away from the fact that we haven't played up to our potential. We're letting ourselves down. As far as turning it around, the players have to answer that question. I believe in them, now they just have to believe in themselves.
  13. FA Trophy Third Round Results You go from what would be described as an incredible win with penalty shots to a deflating loss with penalty shots in the FA Trophy. Were you just not ready for this match - a match pretty much everybody said you'd win easily? I hate to make excuses so I won't but there's a case to be made that playing 3 matches in just over a week and after having to overcome the 2 FA Cup matches and the emotions that went into that.... it's possible that maybe we weren't up for this match as much as we should have been and that's my fault.
  14. FA Cup Second Round Results If you can - take your time - but walk us through this match. How are the emotions? *laughs* Uh... well the first half went about as well as I could expect. We held them off even though they were putting much more pressure on us than we were them. And then we got the goal in the 44th minute when Pollock got past their back line and put one in. At that point you're just ecstatic. You've played basically 1 1/2 matches against a much "better" club and you haven't allowed a single goal. Granted you've only scored 1 but you're showing that no matter what they throw at you, you're good enough to counter it. Then they get the 1 basically almost right out of the gates in the 2nd half and now you're looking at a new game. If I'm being honest I knew scoring again was going to be difficult. So my thought it then that we just need to stop them. We can't let them score, we need to get it to penalties to have any chance at all. But then in the 92nd minute we get the chance at a penalty shot and you're just... at that point you're just looking up and thanking whatever it is you believe in because you just got lucky. And then Collins misses, just absolutely misses the net, the goal, the wood. It happens so this isn't a knock on him at all but you're heart just sinks. The saving grace at that point is the game is basically over, there's no time left so you hang on and you go to penalty shots. They shoot first and our keeper does a great job and knocks it safely away. Again, you're thinking you've got a chance now, you're in command of the match once more. And then you miss..... and your heart sinks again, you're wondering how many breaks you can catch before you're just done. They make, you make, they make you make.... it's 4-4 now and you can barely sit there and watch it. Then they step up again.... miss. You have a chance, a final chance maybe...... and it goes in. You stand there for a minute, maybe you don't believe it, maybe you just can't move but then it hits you and you just beat your biggest opponent you've faced to date. Someone that nobody said you could beat. It's... it's just everything. You already know your next opponent. You'll be facing Sheffield United in your next FA Cup match. Can you give us your thoughts on that match? No, honestly man, I really can't right now. I am just processing what happened here. We'll start worrying about Sheffield when that match comes around. We face Hemel next in the FA Trophy and that's where my head is right now. Fair enough. Good luck.
