  1. Hello everyone. I constantly tell myself I will find the save. The one I will love. The one that will stick in my memory when I think of my main saves. But it never happens. And here I am again writing another pointless blog of the start of a brand new FM save that I will hopefully stick to. I don't pride myself on my writing skills, especially attempting to tell a story to try and make readers interested, I just start typing and end up going with the flow. But as I glanced through the FM23 Challenge Index displayed by FM Scout, I saw a save that sparked my eye. Something called "Zero to Hero". When I read through the description of this challenge, I noticed it was distinctively similar to the Journeyman challenge, however I am going to put my own spin on it. I will start unemployed, with no badges, Sunday league past playing experience with multiple leagues loaded, and just see how it goes. I will pick up my first job (wherever it may be) and I have to have played in that nation for 3 seasons before movie on. This adds a little bit more depth to the save, meaning I can't have just one good season with a god awful side and be able to move to one of the bigger European clubs because of it, this means I will have time to get used to a club, have time to develop myself as a young manager progressing through the ranks before reaching the high levels of the European game. Let's get into this then shall we!
  2. Hello everybody. If you have read one of my previous posts, you will know that I have attempted this save before, I actually got a season and a half into it before giving up through sheer boredom, but we are back here today to attempt it again. It's basically a fairytale story, here, let me fill you in... Once upon a time, there lived a lad, who loved Football Manager, and especially loved to try challenges that would state him as an above average player. One day, he decided to start one of DoctorBenjyFM's Glory Hunter challenges, in which he decided to begin his life at Valencia. This lasted 2 and a bit seasons before his eventual sacking from Valencia. Two strong title fights, losing the title to Real Madrid and Barcelona in respective seasons with two Copa Del Rey's to his name. He was sacked due to a lack of performance in Season 3. He was fighting around just for Champions League qualification and not for the title as previous seasons had suggested. He looked for another job... but couldn't find one, and decided to set up shop somewhere closer to home... Sunderland AFC... Now this is where our story ends. A boy, in love with a club, forced to leave due to an unexpectedly bad performing season... However, the story does not just end there because there is another chapter, and it's titled FM23. This boy had always been bright, and he knew what he was doing when he decided to use a wheel spinner for his Extra Extended Glory Hunter this season. He was deciding to choose his team at random for this challenge! Something not a lot of people had done before. The wheel got shorter and shorter until there were just two teams left. You couldn't have a more picture perfect ending, his home clubs rival in Newcastle United, and his old and faithful in Valencia Club de Fútbol. As he spun the wheel of the last time, he saw Newcastle flash up on his screen, and a streak of joy fluttered through his body. He was back... He was going home... Valencia it was... and Valencia, it will be. I'm coming home boys...
  3. EPISODE 2 Now where were we... I think I will start with the fact that I have struggled to sign players over the summer window, but there is some time left, so I think I will be able to make some acquisitions. However, based on the season start, do we even need anyone to come in? It certainly seems not! Two 4-2 victories in the opening games and we sit top of the EFL Championship. I would say end the season now... but that is when it all starts to go wrong. The tactic is clearly working well, it's just your basic 4-2-3-1 with a couple of adjustments like the AM-ST going asymmetric. For the first few games I have started Ellis Simms. Even though he doesn't play for Sunderland any more in real life, he has created some brilliant attacking opportunities against Coventry and Bristol City, scoring a total of 5 over those games and sitting himself top of the top scorers chart for the league so far this season. The pre-season results went okay I guess, getting a draw and a loss from two very good sides in Valencia and Chelsea, however only picking up a 2-1 victory over National League North's Spennymoor Town. We move into the league season all spirits high though... And what a start to life in the Championship that is! A hat-trick in 11 minutes for Ellis Simms, and a potential goal of the season contender already from Lynden Gooch. What a performance from the lads in general. I thought Danny Batth and Bailey Wright had a brilliant game paired together as Centre-Backs and stopped multiple Coventry attacks, the game could've easily had a few more goals in it for the away side, but our defence just showed how strong they were. Lynden Gooch also had an amazing game picking up an assist and a goal, and well... Simms' performance speaks for itself. Ross Stewart didn't look brilliant off the bench, but he was slightly injured heading into the game, hence the reason he came off the bench, but good three points, roll on Bristol City HWTL! And it was yet again a 4-2 victory that struck down Bristol City, with us managing to find a way deeper into the victory into the second half. Switching up from Batth-Wright to Ballard-Alese didn't make that much of a change either, I think we have 4 good Championship quality Centre-Halves on our hands. Jack Clarke played amazingly in my opinion, with Abdoullah Ba also picking out some key passes that eventually led to goals. Once more, Ellis Simms' performance speaks for himself. In the next blog I will finish off the transfer window and delve a little further into the season, HWTL! CMON!

  5. Legend mate! Thanks for this, I think I will be doing monthly blogs, so lots to read up on mate!
  6. For years I have watched this club suffer, and during this time, have felt a constant pain. Martin O'Neill, Paolo di Canio, Gus Poyet, Dick Advocaat, Sam Allardyce, David Moyes, Simon Grayson, Chris Coleman, Jack Ross, Phil Parkinson, Lee Johnson, Alex Neil & Tony Mowbray are the managers that have been put through pain in the last decade trying to keep this club alive. But it's time a new name gets written onto the name sheet. Fans of this club for years have said that they could do a better job than the managers Sunderland have hired. In the last few years, Sunderland AFC have felt more pain than most, suffering back to back relegation from the Premier League to League One. And when in League One, suffering two final losses at Wembley in the space of just 4 months, in the EFL Trophy against Portsmouth on penalties, and in the League One Play-Off Final against Charlton Athletic, where they conceded a 94th minute goal to lose the game and see Charlton promoted to the Championship. But the pain ends today. No more suffering. No more crying. No more relegations. As Sunderland hire me, a 19 year old with a bright future ahead of me, I look to take my club to the next level, let's see what I can do.
  7. Hello everyone, I hope you are all okay. My name is Vaughan Davis and I will be coming around to manage Farnham Town in Tier 9 of the English Football League System! Farnham wear claret & blue and play at Memorial Ground. I took them over for multiple reasons, but the main one being that the badge/kits are absolutely beautiful and I think they are tough to topple! But obviously there are large connections to a popular English YouTube group known as the Sidemen, whose food brand actually sponsors the away kit for the 22/23 campaign (hopefully I will be able to get this amazing kit in real life!) Farnham is a market town in Surrey which is around about 36km outside of London. In 2011 the town had a population of 39,488. Less of the in real life talk, let's get knuckled down to FM! I settled into my first job on a £350 p/w salary with my contract running for the length of the 22/23 season. My league campaign was set to take place on 30th July against 6th predicted Raynes Park Vale who we battered by 3 goals to 0. Mohamed Adamu had a class MOTM performance whilst also grabbing himself a goal. My favourite player, however, was Joe Sowden who I am looking forward to playing in that LM - IW At position this season. With a goal and another one disallowed, I personally think it should've been Sowden taking home that MOTM trophy. Headed into my second game in charge we face Guildford City for our first match in front of the Farnham faithful at Memorial Ground. With all tensions high and us being predicted 3 positions above them in the English Combined Counties Premier Division South (my god isn't that a mouthful) season preview. Without further or do, here is the result. Obviously this is not the result we wanted, but it definitely could've been worse, we could've lost all 3 points. However, I do class this as 2 points dropped and not 1 point gained. Guildford had to fight back from being one-nil down and they only scored their equaliser through a penalty, although they did have 56% possession and we both had equal amount of shots with them having one more on target. Maybe we were lucky to get away with a point there, again Mohamed Adamu shone with a brilliant performance and a 7.2 match rating, oh how he is loving this league! I didn't think much of Joe Sowden this game as he lost a couple 50/50s and wasn't clinical enough when passing, I did love how Dion Knee performed off the bench tho, we might be seeing more of him this season! Next one was Horley away from home in the league: Wow! That made me angry! I told you I liked the way Dion Knee played off the bench in the second game of the season, so I started him against Horley and well well well, what's that! Injured. And not just any injury, torn knee ligaments, he's out for 4 months. But on a completely different note, a brilliant performance from the Farnham boys, new signing Kelvin Bossman (best name ever by the way) struck one home, it was a brilliant strike and a wonderful way to welcome himself to Farnham crowd. Again for the third game in the row, Mohamed Adamu received a 7.7 Match Rating, and in my opinion was by far the best player out there, and the only reason that Bossman's match rating was higher is because he scored, Adamu solo's anyone in our starting XI. But that is the end of this blog, thank you for reading, I will upload the next post pretty soon with probably another 5-ish games, thank you all for spending your time here, I'll see you again soon, ah-goodbye!
  8. EPISODE 2 Now as you can probably see by how rushed my writing is, I am doing this at night, but as of current Football Manager 2023 has dropped yesterday and I am so siked that I have been able to already start my Season 1 campaign with Adana Demirspor, and become so familiar with the club quite early on. As a (hopefully) rather knowledgeable member of the football community, I did know some of the players prior to heading into this save, but one thing I didn't know, was the transfer of Mario Balotelli to FC Sion! Personally, Balotelli was supposed to be the poster boy for this save, the man to drive our club towards the top. But having the pain of him leaving before I have even arrived is awful. However, even without Mario, the start of the season couldn't have gone any better, with 4 wins from 4 in pre season! And fortunately for the club, this form also carried over into the start of the league season. Getting 9 points from a possible 9 to start off this years campaign. I also want you all to know that this guy will certainly be getting a pay rise. Ok, so now I've done all that, that's me done! I will hopefully see you all again soon in January, or even earlier if I some enticing news to share! Thank you all for reading, looking, listening (however this posh stuff is done nowadays!). And take care, goodbye!
  9. It's that time of the year again, where we all think about the saves that we want to do for the brand new game coming out. Most of you will be doing a beta save, either with your local, a big team or a team struggling. However, this time around, a beta save isn't something I'm interested in, I want to hop into my long term save instantly and kick start the campaign off in the Turkish Super Lig. Now, in previous Football Manager's (and multiple other games) I have been well known for not sticking to saves, and deleting them as soon as I get bored, or find the save too tricky, but this one, surely I can't quit considering I've spent this much time setting up the save right? WRONG. I'm not promising you all that I will stick to the save, but I have found about a new method, that may help me come to the eventuality of sticking to a save. So, what I'm going to do is not plan into the future. Previously I have pushed myself to find a route around my save, a way to the end without even figuring out where to start. However, I'm practically going into this save blind, with no knowledge as to where I'm going from here. Obviously I have my preferences, but I'd like to think, that the club that I am going to start out with are going to be the club that I achieve quite a large sum with before moving away. Now that I got all that out of the way, let's have a look across the save, the main point of this save is going to be the rules, because, even though there are only 3 of them, it still shows that this save is not for the faint hearted. 1. Have to complete challenge in under 40 Seasons. 2. You must win all of these competitions during your save: Premier League FA Cup Ligue 1 Coupe de France Bundesliga DFB-Pokal LaLiga Copa del Rey Serie A Coppa Italia Eredivisie Oranje Beker Premiership Scottish Cup Liga Portugal Taca de Portugal O Bundesliga Austrian FA Cup Pro League Croky Cup Super Lig Turkiye Kupasi Swiss Super League Schweizer Cup UEFA Champions League UEFA Europa League UEFA Europa Conference League World Cup European Championships (Euros) Copa America African Cup of Nations Gold Cup Asian Cup OFC Nations Cup 3. Have fun! This is a spin off of your traditional Glory Hunter, which makes it A LOT tougher to win this version of it! So I hope you all love to try out this save aswell as myself! Thank you all for reading! These challenges do make the save look extremely tough, and don't get me wrong, it is, but it is also extremely doable, think about where you could go, if you start in Austria, you could then get the PSG job, then the Bayern job, and the international scene could fly by when you're having fun. But now I'm doing exactly what I just said that I wouldn't do. Anyway, let's take a detour and look at the club. Ok, now you can see that we will be starting our journey off, at Adana Demirspor, the recently promoted Turkish side. After a few games into the Super Lig season, Adana Demirspor are sat in a top 5 spot, holding onto it very tight, and have started there season off extraordinarily! Adana are a railway club, which makes this save even more interesting. Obviously if you have read the rules, you will know that Adana are not the only club we will be managing throughout this save. We will be bouncing around and attempting to win the League and Cup in 12 of Europe's most advanced footballing nations. However, that's it from me now, hopefully I'll see you sometime again soon in the next week, to see how we start off FM23!
  10. Hello everybody, my name is Vaughan Davis, the newly appointed manager of Kaiserslautern, and I am here to tell you about this thrilling adventure I have had through my first season as head coach, here in Germany. Before I kickstart my journey into the third tier, I need to thank my two good pals Kit and Ethan for helping me along during this first season. It's taken time, skill and effort, and I look forward to you two being able to adapt to lives as the new Co-Assistant Managers for Kaiserslautern from the 2022-23 Season onwards. I sat at my desk, with my head in my hands watching Torles Knoll, score a penalty against me, making it his 19th all round goal of the season. I stared at my screen, after 91 minutes had gone, I got down on my hands and knees, and prayed to the fm gods (and my trusty magic finger man @CapLFC450) to make a change. To rid me from despair against Turkgucu Munchen. Without failure I saw in the bottom right hand side of my screen, Zwickau 2-3 Wurzburger Kickers. I screamed to the roof tops, filled with the joy. The referee blew his whistle in the game between Kaiserslautern and Turkgucu Munchen. WE'D DONE IT! PROMOTION WAS OURS! Despite eventually losing by 2 goals to 1 against Turkgucu on the day, we felt like victors, as the long awaited return to the 2nd Division was upon us. It had taken us all 38 games of the season to confirm it, with a potential of play-offs or the title on the final day! Obviously it's a joy to tell you all about the good times, "despite losing we managed to clinch promotion on the final day of the season to take Kaiserslautern back to 2. Bundesliga. However, it was not all unicorns, fairy princess (and magic finger Kit) quite a lot of the time, it was doom and gloom for Kaiserslautern. Including the time I conceded in the 94th minute away to Hallescher, coming through an own goal from our very own LWB Kenny Redondo. Or the time I conceded in the 87th minute to lose 1-0 to Viktoria Berlin, coming from the hands of Franck Evina. There were some doom and gloom times through the 2021-22 campaign... However, you could be one of the people that love a good underdog! In the second round of the DFB-Pokal, I had drawn out against Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. Clearly Leipzig being the favourites, failed to escape the amazing penalty saves from Mattheo Raab (a player I will hope to keep from next season). After 12 penalties from each side, Kaiserslautern took a 10-9 victory on penalties, taking themselves to face Erzgebirge Aue, were another large penalty shootout would show, coming to an 8-7 victory again for the 3rd tier side! But after a long awaited 38 match campaign, we came out promoted to play football against the greats next year, like newly relegated Bundesliga sides of Greuther Furth and Bochum. After being promoted alongside 1860 Munchen, despite their 0-0 draw at home against Borussia Dortmund II on the final day of the season, we were still promoted, with the other challengers Zwickau, also coming to defeat at the GGZ Arena against Wurzburger Kickers. Best of all, our club is now known for producing one the worlds most promising youngsters at the current moment Benedikt Fritz, if you need proof, just look at him. Wow! If he looks like this at 15, I'll let your imaginations take over and think about how good this guy is going to be in 10 years at the age of 25! I am currently training him to become a DLP, to play in my midfield three. Most would call my current tactic crazy, I would call it... experimental. Mind you, the players in the tactic currently are the players I am looking to keep in the formation for next season. With a 3/4 shots converted from the penalty spot, goalkeeper Mattheo Raab, becomes I penalty taker ahead of the next campaign. Thank you all for reading this blog post, I hope you all have a wonderful evening, I will hopefully see you all again soon, to display my amazing transfer window . I'll see you all again soon. Cheerio!
  11. VRD {#01} Scale the Tower Well hello all, I am here through an invite from my good friend @CapLFC450. He has granted me with an opportunity that I am mostly certainly grateful for, so thank you so so much for the chance to be able to do this alongside you. I know if some of you have read my stuff before, I do have a tendancy for quitting saves when they get too hard, or stopping myself from reaching a certain point because I just want to win, however that has all changed. With Kit doing the same save as me at the same time, I believe that I will be able to stick to this very tough, long term save! But without further or do, let's stick our teeth into how I have currently managed this club from Kiribati! During a long thought process, and lots of time spent doing interviews, I decided to take the manager role at Tamana. And yes, before you guys try to correct me on my spelling, the official club badge, spelt the name wrong, which I think is absolutely hilarious! Currently with Tamana, I have made some signings, that have certainly improved the squad, and taken us to where we are now, which you guys will find out about very shortly. As you can see, a lot of free signings have been made, including some of the leagues best player (e.g. Ben Woodman-Layne and Taia Tamerua). But less of showing you the back story, let's get into what we have done so far! Coming into this job, we had already completed the league group stage campaign, finishing 2nd, which pushed us into the knockouts. With me at the helm, we have achieved great things, I will show you. In the Eighth Final, we were able to scrape and win, and take the club into the quarter final: In the Quarter Final, we were able to obliterate the opposition and take the club even further! To the Semi Final: In the Semi Final, the opposition put up more of a fight than the team we played in the Quarter Final, but it still was not good enough. Tamana progressed again into the Final of the National Championship! Following these amazing results, we are able to compete, for a chance to win 10 points, and push our chances of completing OFC4 sooner up! Thank you for reading, the next blog will be a more in depth look at the final! If we are to win the final, I will write about the job hunt we will go on! To find another club to be able to win more points in the future. However if we do not win, I will go through the squad and tell you guys about how we are going to rebuild for the summer. Thanks for listening, I've been Vaughaniola. Stick around to read further on in my save, and my good pal @CapLFC450's save aswell! Goodbye for now!
  12. Hi guys. I hope you will enjoy with me this long journey of hopefully taking ourselves to the top of English football, if not the world! I have decided to start off with FC United of Manchester in the 7th tier of England. They have a good shot of going up into the 6th league at the first time of asking, plus I think that their reasoning for being a club is amazing. They now have up to 2666 adults that own the club. A fan owned club is always a brilliant one for an FM save. If we are going to get promoted in the first season, it will hurt me deep down, not seeing my club (South Shields) progress upwards! The club was founded in 2005 as an Anti-Glazer organization, and it's a pretty good idea if you ask me. The club is owned by Manchester United fans, that don't like the Man Utd owners, so they said screw them and just made their own club! Now as the new manager of FC United, it is my job to take them into the football league, before progressing myself as a manager onto better things. You never know, the Anti-Glazer squad could be the boys we stick with til the very end! I hope you have enjoyed reading! I will see you at another point for you to read about the first half of the season! Goodbye!
