  1. Also, the clubs are actually spelled correctly in the game. It seems like some of the names you mentioned are just english translations of the cities, but nobody really calls the clubs like that.

Especially "Hamburg HSV" or "Karlsruhe SC" could never be correct, as that doesn't make sense grammatically.

Think about it like this: nobody would call Sevilla "FC Seville" or Fiorentina "AC Florence".

I don't know if this is a correct thread to write about it, but I'll try.

I play mostly with german teams for a long time. I like to look at the editor or tools like GenieScout to see what is the potential of young players from various countries and IMO the german players have generally lower potential than other "big" football nations like England, France, Spain, Italy or Netherlands. There's always less players with big PA in Bundesliga than in other Top 5 leagues. The researchers who are responsible for Germany are either very harsh or don't have the info about other nations in the game.

In current version I checked the Editor, to find out how many players have high random PA.

    130-160:

    Germany - 14

    Netherlands - 43

    France - 36

    England - 47

    Italy - 23

    Spain - 57

    140-170:

    Germany - 3

    Netherlands - 15

    France - 16

    England - 22

    Italy - 7

    Spain - 16

    150-180:

    Germany - 4

    Netherlands - 3

    France - 8

    England - 6

    Italy - 4

    Spain - 2

So only 21 german players in this range, with about 60 from Netherlands and France and over 70 from England and Spain. Even Italy has got more players with high potential. The crisis in german football is not as big. And the the problem of the low PA of young german players (in comparison with other big countries) is present in the game for a long time (at least couple of years). So once again - either the german researchers are too harsh or the researchers from other countries are too optimistic.

    Hi,

thanks for the detailed research. This is actually something we are currently looking into / working on, but is obviously a wider topic of discussion, so it will be more of a gradual process.

But it should improve in the next updates and future FM-releases.

Thank you for fixing this in the future. I am still curious to see how you are handling the equity/loan question, since the negative equity comes from the loans. To my understanding it is either 160 million in loans and zero bank balance (or equity as you call it) or 60 million in loans and 100 million in negative equity.

Disclaimer: If I understood you (and my economy profs) correctly.

    It's a mixture of both.

Usually it's based on the official financial figures that the clubs must submit to the DFL (and other official financial numbers published by the clubs) https://media.dfl.de/sites/2/2023/07/Clubs-der-2.-Bundesliga-2023-24-FINAL-Geschaeftsjahresende-2022.pdf.

The Cash Balance is then based loosely on the equity (Eigenkapital) numbers, especially when the club is in the red.

(Also worth noting: Since those numbers also include stuff like player book values, fixed assets etc, the Cash Balance for clubs with a positive equity will be lower than the equity-figure).

If a club has even more debt than their negative equity, then that debt will also be logged (separately) in the database. The game then calculates those figures together for the total net debt number.

  4. Hi,

thanks for also logging this here.

You are absolutely correct, that was the reason Schalke's debt was kind of calculated double in the game. As mentioned in slightly more detail in the forum post below, this has been corrected for a future update.

As for the member count, that number was updated shortly after the data deadlock for the Early Access, but it will stand at 178,000 for the full-game release.

Timon Pauls is not yet signed by Hertha BSC, even though it seemed that all parties agreed, Augsburg is now trying to get a compensation fee and Hertha is willing to wait. We should wait until it is confirmed by atleast one of the clubs.

A few other notes about Hertha:

    - The combined starting transfer/remaining wage budget with 6  Mio in total is way too high. Hertha is super broke and even though the Lukebakio transfer brought some needed cash in, it should not be more than 2 Mio in total.

    - In general Herthas financial situation is HIGHLY problematic (struggled to get the professional license for 23/24) and this should be reflected in the game a little more.

    - Jeremy Dudziaks "one Year extension after league games" clause is twice in the game. However, I have never read about such a clause in the media at all.

    - Maolida should be downgraded even more. Especially his pace is way off, he should not be faster than 13/14.

    - Ibrahim Maza signed a long-term contract with the club which is not resembled ingame

    - Matthias Borst is not Performance Analyst anymore, he moved to Köln: https://www.transfermarkt.de/matthias-borst/profil/trainer/52310

    - Dinzey (Michél Mazingu in the game) works as a scout now: https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/hertha-bsc/hertha-bsc-zweitligist-holt-aufstiegsheld-michl-dinzey-zurueck-85718164.bild.html

    - Klaus Brüggemann and Ingo Schiller should be removed from the Board Members section as they are not in the board anymore. Instead, add the other members of the Präsidium: https://www.herthabsc.com/de/club/gremien/praesidium

    - Marius Gersbeck should definitly have a lot of his reputation  removed because of his incident

    - I would remove  Jerome Boateng from the "Icons" section, nobody wants to see him here anymore. If it should be updated with some more recent players, I would strongly advise to add Per Skjelbred and Fabian Lustenberger here or under Favoured Personnel.

It's sad that the other 777 clubs don't show up under Affiliated clubs, especially since transfers between them happened (Kanga to Lüttich, Lukebakio to Sevilla) even though I understand that there is no particular parent club between them. Not sure how to see the disliked personnel ingame, but Fredi Bobic should definitley be a part of it.

    Hi,

    thanks for the detailed feedback.

    - As for Pauls, like you already mentioned said, the move unfortunately is not official yet. Even though it seems destined to happen in the next few days. So if it gets confirmed, it will be in the game after a future update.

    - Hertha’s finances (along with most other Bundesliga / 2. Bundesliga clubs) have been updated after the data deadlock of the Early Access, they will be more accurately reflected for the full-game release.

    - Dudziak’s clause appearing twice in the game seems to be a coding issue, and is looked at by the coding team, as it is an issue that has appeared throughout multiple leagues.

As for the clause itself, if you hover over it, you can see that it only kicks in if Hertha get promoted. That promotion-clause was mentioned in a Sport Bild article and also shows up on his Transfermarkt profile.

    - Maolida’s pace, along with his acceleration, reputation, CA etc. have all taken a massive hit recently. Reducing him even more would be quite harsh on the player he still is.

The reason he is not playing for the first team is mostly because he seems to be done with Hertha (mentally) and Pal Dardai absolutely does not rate his professionalism, application and attitude. Especially after a transfer failed to materialize in the summer.

We will of course continue to monitor his progress, even though he might not be at Hertha past January ;-)

It’s "only" Regio-football, but when you watch him for Hertha II, he still stands out massively, mostly due to his pace (his performances against Babelsberg and Lok Leipzig really showcased that). His Pace and Acceleration are definitely still the strongest part of his game, even though because of a couple of injuries they might not be on the same level as they were a couple of years ago (hence the downgrade).

    - Ibo Maza, whilst he only officially has a contract until 2024, Hertha have an option to extend it by 2 years. That’s how it was reported at the time he signed his deal.

    - The staff-changes will be looked at for future updates, thanks!

    - Gersbeck has seen a couple of changes, mostly to to his personality, after his incident and is unavailable for selection for the time he was suspended. But since he is back in the 1st team, I’m not sure a decrease in reputation is the right course of action, especially as it doesn’t seem like Hertha are actively looking to get rid of him (also due to his relationship with Bernstein).

    - Unfortunately at the moment there is not really an accurate way to set that kind of multi-club ownership, where there is not necessarily a senior club, and the ownership stake varies between club to club, but we will look for solutions.

    - Favoured personnel of clubs is usually set by the licensers, so we don’t have too much influence over those, but you made some really good suggestions that can be discussed in the next licensing cycle, thanks!

With the Startingsituation like i told above, a save with Schalke is unplayable with this amount of depth and -90 Mill on their account.

    Hi,

Finances have been reworked for FM24. But you are absolutely correct, at the moment Schalke's debt is not calculated correctly. This has been addressed for future updates, thanks.

Regarding Schalke's Balance, as seen by their most recent financial numbers, which annoyingly have been released after the data deadlock, their equity stands at -€100.2m. Which is outside capital that has to be paid back.

Unfortunately for them, they don't have €20m lying around to spend on transfers. Most of the revenue generated by player sales has been put into paying back debts (hence the reduction in liabilities as per their most recent numbers) and only a small portion of that went into the acquisition of new players, as is the case in game.

Can the values for max wages slightly be increased in Germany? For example seeing Kimmich extend his contract in 2025 and now getting less than before is a little bit immersion breaking.

    Hi,

Kim didn't have a specific wage set in the database, from when the Italian Research Team moved him over, which means the game calculates his wages.

But his wages have now been set for future updates, thanks!

As for Kimmich, do you have a screenshot of the new contract he has signed in-game, for us to investigate, because that really does seem a bit off. Since we don't have anything set that should prevent him getting a pay-rise on his current terms.

as you have probably already seen, Gruda has already received a pretty big upgrade for FM24, especially in terms of his CA.

Whilst he has been great in recent games, especially against Bayern (which was obviously after the data deadlock), he still only has 4 senior starts to his name.

I know Bashir Humphreys is incredibly capable with both feet and it would eat into his CA to make him truly either footed, but according to his own admission, his left foot should be ever so slightly stronger than his right. (Currently it's the other way around in the game). He also took corners with his left and (indirect) free-kicks (for Paderborn) with his left foot.

“To be honest, my favoured foot has swayed over the years depending on which position I have been playing in,” he added.

“Now I am definitely more confident playing on my left foot, but I can use my right foot when I’ve played at right-back so I am not fussy about it.

On a similar note, his potential seems a tad low for such a technically fantastic, versatile and composed player, who also was a star for England's u20s (also at the World Cup) and is currently a starter for England's u21s.

First of all, thank you for your answer but I think there was some misunderstanding :D

Assan Ouedraogo has a mistake in his contract. 2x 20 million exit clause.
I know that you can't reflect the reality but you can get closer by lowering the exit clause for German teams and for foreign teams as well. (10 and 15 million)

Taylan Bulut: PA range seems relatively high. I think we should maybe tighten it up a bit. (Of course he's still relatively young, but he'll be 18 next year) But that's just my opinion.

Tristan Osmani: My problem with him is that he is technically on a similar level to Ouedraogo and that simply shouldn't be the case. Talent yes, but technically he's not that far yet.

Cedric Brunner: I can understand your approach but if you look at all the games he never reaches his top speed compared to the other players but ok.

    Thanks for clarifying.

Yeah, now I've seen it too, it's pretty weird that the clause appears twice in Ouedraogo's contract. It seems to be a bug. We will have to look further into that.

In terms of splitting the Release Clause for domestic and foreign clubs, that definitely is something we will consider for future releases.

For Bulut, it seems like in your save(s) he has simply ended up on the higher end of his potential, because his current PA Range really is nothing to write home about and has been significantly lowered recently. Lowering it even further would be a bit too much at this stage, considering he was rated fairly highly (also in the National Team) just a couple of months ago. We will continue to monitor him of course, but unfortunately it is difficult to properly asses him at the moment, as he has been injured.

Due to Ouedraogo's potential, his technicals won't stay on the same level as Osmani's for long in a save ;-)

As for Osmani's technicals, he has last been updated by the Austrian HR, who has assessed him also based on appearances for the Austrian Youth Teams.

For Brunner, we will have to wait and see, but I wouldn't be surprised if Geraerts converts him into a RCB for his back-3. Then he will most likely have a lot of sprint duels to show what he really is made of haha.

I think Eintracht Frankfurt has way too less money. The transferbudget in the first season is 5 mio and their balance is 10 mio. They made a transferplus of  85 mio with Kolo Muani.

    Hi,

Finances have recently been reviewed, but the data lock for the Early Access was before that, so some of the changes are not yet in the game, but will be for the full-game release.

Frankfurt will start with a €15m Transfer Budget, but if you look at the Commercial Revenue and TV-money, it will go up over time.

And it's good that you mention the Kolo Muani-sale, because that is actually already in the game. If you look at the "Clauses" tab on Frankfurt's Finances, you will see that there are 3 outstanding instalment-payments á €30m (along with various other clauses) coming Frankfurt's way from that sale (which is the payment structure of the deal that was widely reported).

That should be more than enough money for Frankfurt ;-)

Unfortunately, there is no forum for the 2nd Bundesliga, so I'll add the problems at FC Schalke 04 here for now.

    Player:

Assan Ouedraogo --> Assan Ouedraogo's clause is set for 2 times 20 million. According to the latest information, he is expected to join a domestic team this summer for 7 million and the clause is supposed to be higher for foreign teams (10 million sounds realistic). Only with international matches could his clause increase, but as far as I know this is unfortunately not possible in game. (https://sportbild.bild.de/bundesliga/vereine/bundesliga/schalkes-super-talent-assan-ouedraogo-kann-zum-schnaeppchen-preis-gehen-85812278.sport.html)

Taylan Bulut --> Taylan Bulut is always one of the biggest talents at Schalke and was even considered for the first team at 17. It looks ingame like his PA range is relatively high and could be reduced a bit.

Tristan Osmani --> Tristan Osmani is a talented player with a lot of potential, but he is almost as good as Assan Ouedraogo, who is much further along in his development even though he is younger. Therefore, perhaps the technical values should all be reduced somewhat or the key attributes such as technique, first touch, etc. (But by a maximum of 1-2 points).

Cedric Brunner --> Cedric Brunner is simply too fast with 15 speed. Compared to other players with 15 pace Brunner runs 32.26 km/h, Murkin 34.07, Matriciani 33.92, Karaman 34. Therefore Brunner should rather be 12-13 (https://www.bundesliga.com/de/2bundesliga/spieler/cedric-brunner)

    Staff:

Marc Magnier --> u19 physiotherapist but is a physiotherapist in the first team (https://schalke04.de/funktion/funktionsteam/)

Rasmus Bruns --> New U19 physiotherapist (Born 02.06.1997) Is not yet in the Database

Mike Büskens --> Never worked as U19 coach, not even under Reis. He just didn't sit on the bench but was a first-team coach.

Martin Max --> U23 striker coach could be considered as assistance coach (Geboren 07.08.1968 und ehemaliger Spieler von Schalke 04) https://www.transfermarkt.de/martin-max/profil/trainer/10305 // https://schalke04.de/knappenschmiede/trainer-und-staff-u23/

Tim Terboven --> U23 physio (But unfortunately I haven't found any information about him yet.) https://schalke04.de/knappenschmiede/trainer-und-staff-u23/

    Hi,

    Thanks for the detailed feedback!

    - unfortunately it is not possible to set such detailed and specific, appearance, country and success dependant, release clauses.

But at the moment it is possible to sign Ouedroaogo in-game for less money than any of the reported clause anyway, especially in the 1st window.

And if you play a save with Schalke, and he develops amazingly, you still have the challenge of there being the (best-case scenario) Release Clause, as it would be in real-life (with it increasing depending on appearances/success).

    - For Bulut, I'm probably misunderstanding, but it seems like a bit of a contradiction. First it seems like you are saying he is one of Schalke's biggest talents, but then ask for his (relatively low) potential to be decreased. Maybe you could clarify that a bit.

    - Both Osmani and Ouedraogo have Potential Ability Ranges, due to their age. And Ouedraogo's potential is significantly higher than Osmani's in-game.

As you probably already know, due to a multitude of factors (personality, hidden attributes, Nationality, etc), the star ratings are not the be-all and end-all when it comes to 100% accurately showing a player's true ability/potential.

    - Brunner is not the quickest off the mark (hence his Acceleration is 12), but he is quite quick once he get's going. His Top-Speed this season might be 32.26 km/h, but Pace-stats are not based on just a handful of games/sprints. For example, last season Brunner hit 34.52 km/h and was Schalke’s 3rd quickest player. So he is definitely not slow. For reference, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (also due to limited game-time) "only" has hit 32.97 km/h this season, yet we all know how quick he really is.

    - the staff will be looked at for future releases, thanks.

I think the transfer budget of Bayern Munich is too low in the beginning. Right now, they have 20.000.000€ to spent, but they were willing to spent more than 100.000.000€ for new players before the transfer window opens, no matter if they generate money or not.

In the end they spent about 155.000.000€ but generate even more (around 160-170.000.000€). Also they were willing to spent 65.000.000€ for Palinha and also were willing to buy or loan another defender. So at least there were at least 70.000.000€ to spent, but the time runs out for them.

Also the amount of money in the club seems to be too low. In the game they have 100.000.000€. Their balance sheet recommend, that they have at least 264.700.000€ liquid money (https://fcbayern.com/binaries/content/assets/downloads/homepage/jhv/2022/presseinformation-jhv-2022.pdf?v=1665838348035).  Maybe I’m reading it wrong, but I think, the calculations of Bayern Munich’s budgets are too low.

    Hi,

Generally, German teams as a whole were very rich compared to other leagues, and they receive a lot of TV-money, so there were budgetary downgrades all across the board, to more accurately reflect reality. And a couple of the financial updates were made after Data Lock for the Early Access, but will be there for the full-game release.

As seen with their loan (+ option to buy) bids for Chalobah, Bella-Kotchap etc, and after their deals for Kane, Kim (let's not forget their wages) etc, Bayern don't have €100m laying around to spend on players. E.g. with their wage bill, they are not able to have a net spend of over €100m in a single transfer window.

Whilst Bayern did make a bid for Palhinha in the region of €60m, that amount would not have been paid in a lump sum. That sum would have been paid in instalments, which is also possible in-game, as they will have a Transfer Budget of €40m for the full-game release.

The "Overall Balance" in FM is not exactly the same thing as "Liquid Capital" on their financial report. With a couple of board requests it is possible to access (a lot) of that money. Whereas in reality Bayern would only allow to access that money in special circumstances (and never the full €264.7m), so the number for the full-game release, €140m (over 50% of that for the Full-Game release) seems fair. And with their Commercial Revenue & TV-Money, they will always have enough money to also buy elite players in the game. And even with the current Balance, they are among the richest clubs in the world. For reference, PSG (who are known to have pretty much a bottomless pit of money), "only" have an Overall Balance that is €20m higher than Bayern's.

He has terrible average ratings(in 2 different saves he has under  6.5 after 17 matches). He is on a 2 star level for Bayern, so he is clearly too bad in the game(even worse than Peretz). His sofascore rating last season for Monaco was 6.93, which is still decent and now he is performing really well.

And this is clearly an issue: Ulreich seems to be so bad in the game, he is playing for Bayern II. I mean he should not get a huge buff because he is 35 years old, but he should still be better that he is not getting placed in the 2nd Bayern team.

    Hi there!

    Also for 2. Bundesliga:
I just started a save with 1.FC Nürnberg, as i anticipate the team to be very prominent this year due to their high number of promising young players. Mentioning some things:

    • I was surprised to find Can Uzun being still in the U19 Squad in the game, and also the Club Profile shows the biggest prospect to be Finn Jeltsch. In fact i tried 4 saves by now to check if this was a random occurrence but Uzun was not mentioned there on all occasions. While Jeltsch is the current U17 Germany Captain and as he is a great prospect, Uzun is rumored to make his debut for the turkish A-National squad by the end of this year. Therefore i believe the PA for Uzun is just too small. He just got updated to 5M € market value by Transfermarkt as well (https://www.transfermarkt.com/can-uzun/profil/spieler/816585)
    • Which "serious viral infection" is Jens Castrop  going through which sidelines him for 5 months? He is expected to play this weekend and also played the last games (https://www.transfermarkt.com/jens-castrop/leistungsdaten/spieler/613192)

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    - the only explanation for Uzun being in the u19 squad, is that there are so many other players in his position(s). But due to his Potential and Reputation, he should be seeing first team action sooner rather than later in-game.

    - Uzun and Jeltsch both have Potential Ranges, as they are both incredibly young, but Uzun's potential is higher than Jeltsch's. As you probably already know, due to a multitude of factors (personality, hidden attributes, Nationality, etc), the star ratings are not the be-all and end-all when it comes to 100% accurately showing a player's ability/potential.

    - Castrop seems to have been set the illness without a return date, (as it was not clear when he will be back when he was ill), which means that the game automatically calculates one. But the illness should have a return date for future releases.

  19. The wage is fairly accurate.

Soumaïla Coulibaly was actually signed as a 1st team player and hence is on a 1st team player wage, he is only playing for the 2nd team in order to get playing time, because he had a couple of (major) injuries and there are a lot of players in his position in the 1st team.

Also keep in mind that he was signed from PSG, where youngsters historically already earn quite a bit, and when Dortmund signed him, he was regarded as one of the most promising CB talents in Europe, so that's why he was able to command such a relatively high wage.

Additionally, him having been a Free Transfer also means Dortmund had to pay more in wage to get him to sign for them.

In Germany the rules for shirt names are more strict and he plays under the name "Jordan" (example image).

/edit: I'll be looking into the Wolfsburg data this weekend. One thing that should definitely be changed though is Max Kruse. In real life he is essentially suspended and listed for release. Without this marking or without some other reason for him not to play (relationship with Kovac? "Considering his options"?) his still rather good stats and playing time promises lead to him playing quite a lot.

    Thanks for the Feedback.

Changes to that specific issue have actually been made, they just missed the deadline for the Beta unfortunately, but will be present in the full-game release.

For example Kruse and Kovac will have the strongest possible dislike towards each other, and Kruse's Work Rate, Team Work etc have taken a slight hit. So it will be highly unlikely that the A.I.-Kovac will select him.

He has no official ban or suspension that would prevent him from being selected, it is just that Kovac doesn't have him in his plans and wants to get rid of him, so it wouldn't make sense to give him any sort of official ban that would prevent everyone from playing him:

If you, for example, take over at Wolfsburg, there is nothing that should bar you from playing Kruse, if you think you can find a role in your team for him ;)

    Greetings and enjoy FM23!

like a said: ok, but -6, -6?!?!  is he in depression?!?!

"If you watch him play, he doesn't go chasing after the ball etc out of possession, but rather looks to conserve energy to be as decisive in the box as possible."

no, you're not watching the games to say that, for those watching the barcelona games it's impossible to think like that without being biased.

The changes to his Work Rate and Team Work had already been done months ago, when he was playing for Bayern and there wasn't even any speculation about him leaving or anything of that sorts.

And what you must understand is that not every attribute counts the same, they are weighted differently for each position.

For example as a striker 6 points of Team Work could be the same as 1 point of Off The Ball. So his ability would stay the same, just his stats would be spread out differently.

But if you truly believe he has significantly changed his game and become more involved in pressing etc. again after leaving Bayern, then that would be something to discuss with the Spanish Research Team.

But remember, an increase in TR / WR would require a downgrade in some area (perhaps something more important for his game), so be careful what you wish for ;)

    Hi, thanks for the feedback

If you look closely at Lewandowski, his overall ability has not really changed all that much and he is overall still one of the 5 or so best players in the world, but not the single best player in the world (as some might have considered him to be when he would've won the Ballon d'Or in the year Bayern won the CL or he scored over 40 goals in the league).

Benzema on the other hand got an upgrade after his amazing season, in which he almost single-handedly carried Madrid to the CL and even won the Ballon d'Or.

So it's pretty fair to have both players on basically the same level.

Over the last few months, among with a whole host of other players at Bayern, Lewandowski got a slight downgrade due to the team's (for their standards) disappointing season. And Lewandowski himself was not able to carry-on his basically super-human form of 41 goals in 28 league starts.

And as Jeroen said, especially in the last few months (and generally after Flick left Bayern), of his tenure at Bayern, he didn't always commit himself to the fullest, especially when Bayern did not have the ball, hence the downgrades in Work Rate and Team Work.

Whereas his pressing and overall buying into the team ethos have dropped off, he has become more focused on his movements, hence for example his Anticipation and Off The Ball went up, which are far more important for the type of player he is.

If you watch him play, he doesn't go chasing after the ball etc out of possession, but rather looks to conserve energy to be as decisive in the box as possible.

    Greetings and enjoy the game!

Just needed to check. Yeah, it's the English rule that initially applies (because well, FM being predominantly English) - it's not common in Holland at all, and "we" have it hardcoded. I actually thought this is the case for Germany too. I can fix these guys, but then there may be more issues - playing against the parent club with other clubs - so let's see what can be done. But for Schwolow and Krauss it's not much work of course.

This definitely is a more general issue. It also used to be hardcoded for Germany as well, but somehow not anymore.

Now even in the Eredivisie players can't play against their parent clubs. (E.g. Remco Balk on loan from Utrecht can't play against Utrecht).

Italy has the same problem as well.

I'll log it into the League Specific Forum and @Michael Sant who also was reached out by the Italian HR, when they had the same issue.
