  1. Okay in that the Mezzala did end up wide occasionally, with the IF going inside, but even then it's not the width holding that I was intending to achieve and all too often they do end up in each others' way. I've since given up on this and gone for the AML, Martinelli, being a W(A) who cuts in with the ball while I've toyed with the MCL both as a MEZ(S) and CM(A). It's working better and tbh a more accurate representation of how Arteta uses Martinelli IRL, but is a shame we don't have a midfield role that properly achieves those rotations with the winger out wide yet. Introduction of a role like this would be great in future FMs, particularly as they get to grips with the positional play tactical elements and dynamics. Also, including a function where you can choose players to rotate/swap roles with each other at certain points would be a great addition.
  2. Yeah that would be an option (could use Rice as a libero) but would depart from my intention of recreating Arteta's Arsenal tactics. Think I may have to set Martinelli back to W(A) with instructions to roam and see if the Mezzala (or perhaps AP) going wide with the ball might see him choose to narrow his positioning.
  3. @Egecann Appreciate the reply! Yeah nice suggestion, I did consider it as an option but do you think that role would help hold the width, particularly in high areas of the pitch, well enough? That's what I want to get from the MEZ(S) but, unfortunately, FM doesn't seem to have positional play in the final third (i.e. rotations between wide player and near interior) baked in yet. Hadn't considered the above though, this could work though the original intention was to get him hovering more centrally/closer to the goal in preparation to receive, rather than only once when he's on the ball.
  4. Hey guys, I'm using Arsenal to recreate Arteta's tactics, in your standard 4-3-3, except I'm using Martinelli as an IF(A) with sit narrower instruction instead of having him hold the width as Arteta does IRL. Behind him is Zinchenko who I'm using in the IWB(S) role that was pretty much built for him, so my problem at the moment is how do I ensure there's someone to maintain width on the LHS? The solution would of course be the LCM, which is currently occupied by Havertz in the MEZ(S) role, on an instruction to run wider with the ball. It's been *okay* so far, but doesn't quite achieve the width-holding rotations I'm going for, is this the best solution in the game or are there other tweaks I can employ? Would keeping Martinelli as an IF with a stay wider instruction be best? Any and all advice much appreciated!
