Fantastic post that, wp sire.

I think Luton would be a wise choice for a challenge, starting on -30 and all.
I'm sure some brainy soul could come up with a decent challenge for them.

How about we have another demo challenge like we did with Barrow on the 08 demo?
Will keep people interested for the next 2 weeks.

How about a simple challenge e.g. Keep Bournemouth AFC up in league 1 in the 07/08 season ?
There's already something along those lines called "The Great Escape Challenge". The game starts in March though I think.

Are you saying that because arrows are being removed from FM09?

Thanks for the reply Cleon, that clears it up for me.

I've a quick question on farrows and barrows. I know the answer is probably close by anywya but I thought I'd ask in here.
Am I right in thinking that when your team isn't in possesion your players will move to the natural position on the field they are placed in?and..
When you are in possesion they move to the area of the field at the end of the farrow or barrow? If that's not correct could someone explain to me please?
Thanks.

An absolutely awesome idea. Brilliance, honestly. I'd absolutely LOVE to be involved if it went ahead.

Would anyone be interested in being involved in something similar to this on FM09?
Probably on a smaller scale, say 10 people maximum, with priority given to forum regulars and those who have been involved in the previous two incarnations and limited to just the EPL rather than across Europe.

I believe that it may of been tried on a smaller scale a couple of times before but it's been abandoned by the person running it after a week or so.
It's a good idea and doing it on that scale would take a large amount of work but if you were willing to put in the work to run it then it would work fine. I'd certainly follow it and like to be included as a player or suchlike.
I'd presume someone with your experience on here would fulfill something like this and not just abandon it.
from me.

1. One nation.
2. Same nationality.
3. Get jobs the proper way.
4. Entirely upto you.
5. No.
And good luck.

Yeah, it was good fun although we hadn't been running too long in there then. This year we've lots of new faces, and lots of new, excellent ideas. Should be much better this time around.

I'd expect Birds to run it again but if not I'm more than willing to do whatever it needs to make sure we have an awards night again.
Any help required, just ask.

It was done last year, around September time.

I personally think it's a quite a good idea and a very creative one at that. Well posted and thought out, I understand what you're saying and all so well done.
from me, and I quite like the idea of putting a becoming an Aberdeen legend.

In principal I like the idea although with a few tweaks it could be made very, very good game.
Right the set-up.
I'd go with a small club to big club challenge definitely, and probably in England. So any team from either the Blue Square North or South.
I think one season per manager would be adequate. I'm not sure on the number of participants but I definitely think that one or two of the more established members would be better to start off, then the less established but very active memebers.
I think 1 week of real time would be enough to fininsh the season but if the season is finished before the week is up then the next week and the next season can begin.
I think one manager would be fine aswell and 'Paul Wallace' is the ideal man for the job.
I reckon fictional players would add to the whole story side of it and it also means that people can't cheat and buy top players they know from other games to run riot in the lower leagues.
I play be LLM rules so I'd do it that way but there's no problem with anyone else playing however they like.
I think that's covered everything mentioned so far. Great idea and any questions or thoughts, just ask.

'The Three Nations Challenge' by butts is effectively identical except it involves 3 leagues instead of 5.
Sorry dude.

I was thinking about doing a Premiership predictions league for the real premiership. I know there is one similair on the off topic forum but this forum is much more exciting
What does everyone think?
You could possibly run it on a small scale basis in the off topic thread if you really wanted to and provided that there were people willing to take part.

(which would only go ahead with permission from dafuge/gundo of course )
dafuge has already said elsewhere that this would be a good idea so I'm sure if it were made there would be a market for it.

Some bad news unfortunately.
I've spent the last four or so hours working on trying to get this game going and I've barely done anything other than get together the player values. I knew that it would require a lot of hard work but I was unaware that the way I wanted to do it would require so much work and so much time. I know I could do it a simpler way but I like to do things the way I want and at the moment I don't have the time to spend hours every day doing this doing it in this way.
Due to this I can't commit to so much time and leave it open for anyone else to take up and try to work, good luck.

My thoughts on it are that as already said it's going to take a lot of work and so the scoring system needs to be simple I think

Goal = 3pt
Appearance = 1pt
Clean Sheet for defenders / goalies = 3pts
Something for yellow / red cards maybe
Or something similar is fine.
Also I think you should limit it to a squad of 11 and just have transfer windows at the start of September and February, that allows players to make changes based on transfers actually made within the game and allows people to change injured players or players who aren't playing. Limiting it to 2 windows it will be easier to keep track of who has what players and will mean you won't have to wait on people posting at the end of every month or week to make their transfers or squad selections. If people get injuries within their team that's just bad luck, they'll have to live with it.
Whatever you do though I hope it works out well because as I said it's a great idea. ( I hope all of that made sense, it did in my head ) </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Thanks for your thoughts. I'm sure to take some of your suggestions on board but the full details will be in the initial thread for the signing up and team picking phase.

I'm surprised this thread is still going strong, I'd have thought someone would have made a new one by now.
