The Average goals in the Vanarama National league North is currently 2.8. I’m now at over 3.7 per game. I’ve done an Everton save which had nearly 4 goals per game, and a TNS save in Wales which had nearly 4.2 goals per game average. On my current save I’ve seen both teams combined keep 4 clean sheets in nearly 30 matches. I know people who have said the same thing about goals and I’ve watched multiple streamers / YouTubers etc who all have massive amounts of goals and have pointed out the goals increase in FM24 on multiple occasions. I don’t believe the goals can be below real life averages as the screenshots above and my 100+ Hours in the game suggest otherwise, so it’s a shame it’s not going to be looked into / changed.

Yeah, I thought they had fixed the penalty issue as well. Conceding a penalty last minute in a play-off to a clearly clean tackle is really frustrating as well! Goals issue isn’t helped by how often we throw comfortable leads away. Teams suddenly turn into Man City as soon as they go 2-0 down! Seems like the game is desperate to make every game an exciting thriller rather than just played out like real football which is a real shame.

Agreed! Tried a few different teams / leagues and they’re all the same. Definitely making it borderline unplayable and needs fixing ASAP in my opinion!

I’ve done multiple save files in multiple leagues with different teams and found there are far too many goals in our games. Consistently throw away 2 goal leads and both teams pretty much always score in every game. Currently seeing over 3.5 goals avg in my current save and way too many games have 4-5 goals.

Long balls and defending issues

I've uploaded one. I've deleted the other save but I think all the issues are covered in the 5-5 draw I've uploaded under Josh Poole - TNS.fm I think the goals at 105', 29' and 39' are the worst examples, although most of the goals highlight an issue with generally defending long balls. There were a few more moments I wanted to highlight that didn't end in goals but I can't find them on the highlights. -
There currently seems to be way too many goals in this version of the game. I’ve played 2 matches and seen 16 goals. I’ve also watched many others play and they also have massive amounts of goals. this issue is compounded by defenders being unable to deal with any balls in behind (long or short). Defenders either step up to high, even with a low line, don’t challenge for headers despite being last man so they get turned for a 1v1, and get beaten to a ball in behind despite being 10 yards closer to the ball. They also don’t intercept through balls despite being so much closer and instead seem to jockey space until the attacker comes from much further back to take possession. Goalkeepers also don’t seem to save much. Seems every half chance is a goal and they just don’t get anywhere near most shots regardless of angle etc.

Way too many goals + defending is are broken

I agree that maybe the amount of goals may not look as bad if the representation of them through the match engine wasn’t so poor. My very first experience of the full release was a 5-5 and probably 8 of the goals were just completely avoidable through defending being ridiculous. Played a low block and low line yet got done so many times through long balls over the top or defenders not challenging at all despite being last man. Either that or not intercepting despite being 10 yards closer to the ball than an opposition attacker! -
Just played my first 2 games after the full release, and have seen 15 goals in my first two games. I’ve watched many other people play and they also have far to many goals in their games. main two issues are goalkeepers, with every highlight and 1v1 ending in a goal regardless of angle etc. even worse is defending long balls. Defenders frequently run away from headers and allow attackers to turn them for a 1v1. They also cannot intercept anything even when they have a massive head start.
