Well, which is it then?
I never noticed it as a problem in FM19 and there were definitely more players floating around from more obscure countries

After looking through and comparing between my last save in FM20 I'm starting to think that this issue actually was present already in FM20, but that it got worse this year so that we started to notice it much more.
It was definitely occurring in FM20. On the two 20+ seasons I was playing, the big teams in Europe just ended up recycling players between each other as there were not enough world class youths being created. The transfer prices became stupid and basically all the teams were massively in debt due to spiraling wage costs and hanging onto older, useless players. As soon as I stock piled a bunch of good youths the game was basically broken as no other team got close in terms of player skill and as I didn't need to spend, ended up hitting the 'money cap' and the club was just stock piling funds into investments.

Has worked at some times but doesn't work at the moment and it depends on the patch. It's pretty frustrating playing an online save and you can't watch the matches.

I said it when FM20 came out and it's the same for FM21. I don't want added features that make the game more realistic but the make the game 'less fun'. I would rather see a more refined and polished version of what we already had.
Club vision was something I was really looking forward to in FM20, but it was a broken mess at the start and continues to be a broken mess that makes the experience worse not better. The new addition of press conferences looks the same. People don't really like them now but I'm not sure how making it so you can select a journalist (as it appears in the trailer) and answer a question makes it more 'fun'. Just something to waste time on or like everything else, send the assistant as what happens doesn't really impact on the results.
The ME in FM20 was bad and was patched it by nerfing some other aspects of it. Pressing is still is way OP, playing with a formation with a back 3 still really hit and miss and headers are still atrocious.
I've played over 1000 hours each version for the past few year with a mate and we just play around the flaws partially because there is no other decent option. SI have a monopoly in football management games so if you like these types of games, you don't really have much choice.

Would you be saying that if it was a major final and it was the difference between a last minute winner being allowed? I'd happily sit through a few seconds of a review for this. It's realistic and an important addition.
There is a difference between sitting through the replay of the incident and watching a ref run to the sidelines and look at an imaginary screen and then the text indicating the outcome. If the time taken for the review was a replay itself, that would be better. In RL you get to see multiple replays whilst the decision is made.

I think VAR is a brilliant addition to FM. We all have had decisions which we think have been wrong on FM before and maybe, just maybe, some of those decisions might be overturned with VAR.
I don't have an issue with it being added as it can't be any worse than it is in RL. It's more having to watch the referee animation each time as he runs over to the sidelines and kills 20 seconds. Sure it may not happen very often, but just being able to disable that would be good. You should be able to see the incident as a highlight anyway without the need for the ref part.

Looks like something that was in much older versions of the game in the Championship Manager era. Question will be how much benefit will there be from the extra time taken to set all the individual training plans.

VAR should 100% be in the game, maybe speed up the animation. But if its a mandatory rule, it should exist as much as offsides should.
If you can't turn VAR off, at least have the option of turning the animation off. Do we really need to see the ref running to the sideline and look at an imaginary screen?
I know VAR is the way the game is going but I'm yet to see an implementation in RL that actually works and for sure it will add to the frustration like when you get game after game of dodgy referees.

Additional information
I wouldn't assume an online save makes any difference but what my friend and I were finding is that the original startup players that had world class PA were being kept well into their late 30's on massive wages and the squads had no players to replace them with. The big clubs certainly weren't chasing the best youth players around and were very much just buying middle of the road players in their mid 20's to keep themselves going. Teams were 200-300M in debt at the end of each season. It certainly wasn't enjoyable.
Another thing we noticed that the good youth players were also batched by country each season with the odd other country thrown in. That could be linked to the leagues we had playable though.
