  1. I had the same issue playing in the Big Ten with Michigan State. Not sure if it was the same for Palk, but I noticed that all of the players who were restricted from playing were non-Americans. I used the editor to give them dual nationality and they were all able to play. This is amazing though, Uncle Sam. Thank you so much for all of your hard work on this!
  2. Sorry for the lack of updates recently! It has been a crazy couple of weeks. Please excuse the long post! 2021/22 Season First half of the season went really well. We weren't as organized defensively as I generally prefer my sides to be, but we led the league in goals at the half and were top of the table. As the squad got used to my tactics, we really started clicking on all cylinders. We finished with 101 goals in the league and +68 on goal differential, which was pretty incredible. And that led to... However, no automatic promotion. Top two in a Serie D group qualifies you for a promotion final. We still had some work to do. Now, hopefully we can get a decent draw for the final... We drew Rieti. Not an easy draw at all. Rieti were the champions of Serie D/B and won by 11 points. We will do our best. We are going up to Serie C! That means... I am a professional manager again. Screw you, Sicula Leonzio! Not going to lie, it is nice to be appreciated after the Sicula Leonzio fiasco last season. I am excited to stay on and see what this squad can do in the professional ranks. 2021/22 Season in Review Key Players A youth academy product, Accursio Sciuto was absolutely immense for us this season. Despite his finishing being rated only at 4, he scored 30 goals in 33 games for us. He was tremendous. On loan from Crotone, Domenico Sem was Sciuto's partner up top. They had great chemistry with each other and finished first and second in the league in goals. Released by Crotone at the end of the 2020/21 season, I was able to sign Michele Carrozza on a free. He didn't disappoint and dominated the left flank all season. My tactic really depends on my wing backs getting crosses in to my strikers and Carrozza did that to perfection. Ciro Sicuro was my guy on the right. He was a loan product from Palermo and I really hope we are able to sign him either on loan or a permanent. He was huge for the squad. Felice Cimino was my rock in the midfield. I didn't have a lot of great options in the midfield, so he was forced to play with a number of different players. He never missed a beat no matter who he played with. Finally, we have Fabrizio Esposito. He is a youth product who I was able to give his debut. He had a bit of a shaky first couple of months, but he dominated as the season went on. With his stats, I could see him developing into a very solid option for a Serie B club. EDIT: Finished my Continental A and now starting on the Continental Pro!
  3. A.C.R. Messina Associazioni Calcio Riunite Messina is an Italian football club based in Sicily. It currently plays in Serie D. They are based in the city of Messina, which is located near the northeast corner of Sicily, at the Strait of Messina. It is the third largest city on the island of Sicily, and the 13th largest city in Italy, with a population of more than 238,000 inhabitants in the city proper and about 650,000 in the Metropolitan City. Key Players Also, very excited to start working on my Continental A license!
  4. Job Search I was sacked on December 26th and immediately started looking for new jobs. However, nothing really caught my eye and I eventually decided to take the rest of the season to see what opportunities were available then. My goal was to get a decent Serie D team to take a chance on me. Hopefully one with decent enough finances to pay for me to finish my badges. Sicula Leonzio refused to pay for a coaching course for me, so I've been stuck on my Continental B license for almost a year now. In the end, my patience paid off. Messina is a club with a fair amount of history and is located in one of the biggest cities in Sicily. They currently play in Serie D, but they have played in Serie A as recently as the 2006-07 season. It would be a perfect place to start rebuilding my career. Well, that's not a good sign. I was pleased that I was at least able to secure an interview. And..... I got it!
  5. 2020/21 Season - First Half We started off the season pretty well, but we hit a wall in November and we just couldn't do anything right. I underestimated how bad the financial situation was. The club had built a new stadium and took on a ridiculous amount of debt to do so. I wasn't able to bring in any reinforcements during the summer transfer window. Combine that with some major injuries to key players and..... The search for a new club begins.
  6. ASD Sicula Leonzio Sicula Leonzio is an Italian football club located in Sicily. They currently play in Serie C Girone C. They are based out of Lentini, Sicily, Italy. Lentini is a town in the Province of Syracuse, which is located in the South East of Sicily. It has a population of 23,516. Woohoo, I'm getting paid! \ The financial situation is...uhhh....not good. This is going to be a serious challenge. Key Players Tommaso Squillace Mattia Sorrentino Miguel Maza Gianluca Esposito Santo D'Angelo Giuliano Laezza
  7. Summer 2020 A few weeks after securing promotion to the Eccellenza, I am offered an interview with Serie C sides Gozzano and Santarcangelo. However, the manager of Serie C Sicula Leonzio has resigned from his position. The prospect of continuing my career in Sicily is very exciting, so I applied for the open position and declare my interest in the job. I really want the Sicula Leonzio job, so I manage to delay with Gozzano and Santarcangelo. The next chapter of Buffa's career is about to begin.
  8. 2019/20 Season - Second Half Not a bad second half. The biweekly format makes it very difficult to keep the squad in form, but our strong first half really gave us a strong base for the second half. Very pleased with the side. Now on to the promotion playoff final! Not the easiest draw, but we will see what happens. We did it! We have been promoted to the Eccellenza! 2019/20 Season in Review Key Players
  9. Summer 2019 Transfers Very excited to sign Genna, he will walk into the starting XI in the midfield. Torrasi was a disappointing loss, but we will persevere. He would have likely been a rotation option anyways. I managed to keep all of my starters, which is exciting. 2019/20 Season - First Half We performed well as a whole and really started to put it together the last two matches. Now we are off for nearly a month and then move to the biweekly format. Continuing to make good progress on my badges. I was offered two interviews from clubs in higher divisions. However, I decided to turn both down. I want to see the season out with Carini and fight for promotion to the Eccellenza. I will reevaluate my job options in the summer.
  10. May/June 2019 We didn't finish the way we wanted to, but I am mostly happy with the way we developed over the course of the season. If I can manage to keep most of my squad together, I think we can make a strong challenge for promotion next season. 2018/19 Season in Review Key Players
  11. March/April 2019 A perfect couple of months and we are sitting comfortably in third! Very happy with the way we have played. And so are the fans! Aww, shucks. Earned my National B license and now starting on the National A license.
  12. January/February 2019 Not much to report. Managed to move up to 4th, but that loss to Cinque Torri in the 88' really hurt. Also, all of our matches are biweekly in the second half of the season. Transfers IN Buzzanca will immediately walk into my starting XI at striker while Fava will rotate into the midfield. OUT Tough loss. Zangri was our captain and best player in the midfield. He was playing every match he was fit for. I'm not sure why he wanted to leave, but I didn't have any power to stop him. Youth Intake "Golden generation." A little bit misleading in the lower leagues, haha. Rugi looks promising and will immediately be an option for me at DR. Other than that, not too much to be excited about.
  13. November/December 2018 Honestly, not a bad couple of months. Only gave up one goal, but didn't manage to move up the table at all. Promotion is looking like a major long shot this season, but we are laying the groundwork. I completed my studies for a National C License and the board immediately allowed me to get started on my National B license.
  14. October 2018 Started out the month great, but I got my tactics all wrong against Villabate. Came out far too attacking and got burned. We got back to basics against Monreale and performed much better at the back, but their quality gave them the edge. However, I did bring in a couple of players on free transfers. These guys are both going straight into the starting XI.
  15. Thanks! I have been following your updates and was definitely inspired to start this after reading your thread. Good luck with your career!
  16. August/September 2018 All in all, not a bad first month. Started off poorly, but we started to get going as the month went on. However... A couple of bad injuries. Torrasi in particular is a big blow as he is one of my best players and was a big part of how I wanted the side to play. We will carry on though!
  17. Thanks, guys! Excited to be here.
  18. 2018/19 Pre-Season Not a bad preseason. I spent most of it playing around with the tactics and was really impressed with how solid the squad performed at the back. Hopefully we can carry on like this into the season. Based on media projections, I should be able to meet the board's expectation of finishing mid-table. Getting promoted is going to be a real pain though. The first place team in each group simply qualifies for playoff. Not going to be easy, but I am up for the challenge! The board has also been kind enough to let me get started on my badges.
  19. ASD Città di Carini ASD Città di Carini is an amateur football team in Sicily. They currently play in the Promozione Sicilia Grp. A. They are based in the city of Carini, which is located in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, Sicily, 21 kilometres (13 mi) by rail west-northwest of Palermo. It has a population of 37,752. Key Players
  20. As most of the Promozione sides do not have managers at the begining of the save, there were loads of jobs available. However, I only applied to the Carini job. A few days after my application, I was offered an interview. A week after the interview, I get the offer. Here we go!
  21. FM19: Sicilian Glory Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out my career thread. I am new to the forum, but I have really enjoyed all of the career threads and was hoping to take a stab at one myself. I was born and raised in the United States, but my family is originally from Sicily. My great-great grandparents on my dad's side were born in Carini, which is a city in the northern part of the island about 13 miles (22 kilometers) from the Sicilian capital Palermo. I hope you enjoy! The Goal Achieve the top of the Hall of Fame following as realistic a career path as possible. I would like to manage and win titles in the five biggest leagues in Europe and would also like to manage the Italian national team to glory. The Manager Meet Filippo Buffa. Born in Carini, Sicily, Italy on July 15, 1990, Buffa began his career with his hometown club - Promozione Sicilia amateurs Città di Carini - before signing for Palermo at the age of 15. However, Buffa was unable to break in to the Palermo first team and was sent on loan stints to Gela and Siracusa in the early part of his career. After suffering a torn left ACL while on loan with Siracusa, Buffa was released by Palermo at the age of 22. He spent the remainder of his playing career bouncing between various clubs in Sicily before retiring due to various injuries at the conclusion of the 2017/18 season at the age of 27. The Save I will be starting the save unemployed with a Regional Player reputation and no coaching badges. I will be using a custom database with Italy loaded down to the sixth tier Promozione. Since I couldn't find a database that went down to the seventh tier, I have also moved Buffa's hometown club Carini from the seventh tier Prima Categoria to the sixth tier Promozione as I hope to be able to start out with Carini and eventually move my way up from there. Wish me luck!
  22. Hi guys, I'm looking to get into FM for the first time and I am looking to buy a laptop that can run FM18 well. I don't know all that much about computers though, so I was looking for some help. My budget is right around $1,000 USD, but there is a little bit of flexibility there. Here are the specs on the laptop I am currently looking at buying: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-omen-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i7-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1050-1tb-hard-drive-hp-sandblasted-hairline-brushing-and-carbon-fiber/6123301.p?skuId=6123301 7th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ mobile processor NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics 2.8 GHz processor speed 8 GB RAM Any thoughts?
