In 2 sentences you say they’ve made it way harder being a small team and then say they have made the game simpler 😂. Then you say your going to play the most simple version in history.

as far as I can see the contract negotiations were basically a work around to keep great players on the cheap.....totally unrealistic.

Sometimes I feel sorry for SI. last year it was me complaining. Now I’m happy (along with many others) but a new horde are moaning.

    they cant win.

To clarify, as English is not my first language. I did not mean simpler, as easier to play. Meant that it feels like a lesser game, compared to last years version. It feels more stripped down.

  2. Really annoying. I always expect some bugs with a new FM, as that seems to be the rule every year. But never taken so long. Not playing a game before the update this year, as there are way to many bugs. When you add all the features they have taken away to, it use isn’t a good product. Really disappointed with SI this year. The removal of bonuses in contracts makes it way harder being a small team. Seems they have made the game simpler this year. Just lowered the quality so it will not compete with the full version? Never been so disappointed in my years with FM/CM, Going back to CM94 EOS.

I absolutely agree with the comments. I can’t comprehend why delete all this features. I play FMT because I have not the time to play to the full version.
these choices to extremely simplify the game, lower so much the quality of the game, that is truly expensive... sorry for my poor English :)

Same here. Just can’t find the time for a full game. And the full game can’t be played on iPad Pro. Still, I felt I got all the things I needed to enjoy the game last year. So why make it simpler this year? Add some of the key features, but don’t remove any.

    Hi @tdh88,

We've reduced the amount of bonuses and clauses available in FMT this year to fit in with the streamlined nature of the game.

We're disappointed to hear that you haven't enjoyed this change and are open to hear about your feedback on this area.

Although we're unlikely to return to the amount of options in previous games, we'd like to hear your suggestions on which previous bonuses/clauses you think are vital or really add to your experience.

Please start a thread in the below forum with your suggestions to improve the game:

    Thanks again for your feedback,

    Harrison

The lack of options in contracts make this feel more simple, and not in a good way. The possibility to have different conditions to a release clause is important when you start with a small team. I never felt it was to much, rather something that worked really good. As tablets get better you should really focus on adding relevant content, not removing that which works fine.

same goes for data base. Almada is missing when I start a game in pl, Serie a and bundesliga. Biggest talents should really be included. In many ways this years game feels more cheap and simple in many ways

  5. Hi,

I play the game on iPad, but feel the db is way to small. Thiago Almada is not included when I start a game, with PL, Bundesliga and Serie A, which is quite annoying.

I know that I am limited to only three leagues started on a pc game if I am to cross sync, but wonder if I would be able to choose a larger db on a pc game, and still open it on the iPad. Anyone ever tried this?

No wonder you are conceding easy goals. Central defenders in FM aren't the smartest of player when it comes to anticipating through balls, and on top of that they are amazingly slow to turn. Unless your central defenders are absolute top class with really good pace, anticipation and positioning they will have a lot of trouble in this system. You push up your defensive line, leaving so much space behind. This is always a risky tactic, and to pull it off your players must always put enough pressure on the opposition or they just have too much time to punt the ball over your defence, and it's always a difficult situation. On top of it you have closing down much more. Whereas you want more closing down for your midfielders and forwards so that they can press their players when playing with a high line, it also increases the closing down of your defenders a lot. You need to think if you really want your defenders to constantly leave their position to close down players as it creates a lot of gaps in your defence. All this combined with both wingbacks and the segundo volante pushing high up the pitch when in possession, your team can be really susceptible to counter attacks.

I usually play a high press game but I tend to leave my closing down on normal and use PIs to set individual closing down instructions. For my forwards and advanced midfielders I use higher closing down and for my defenders and at least one holding midfielder I use less closing down - and this is with normal closing down TI, so you could even consider much less closing down for your defenders as you use much more closing down TI. Especially since you have two defensive midfielders covering the space in front of defence. You don't need your center backs to close down that space as well as it is just an overkill and leaves so much space in behind.

Another thing I would consider is starting the games with slightly higher defensive line and see how it plays out. It is a bit more balanced approach at the start, and you can push it higher if you see that they have too much time to build play in the middle. You should also look out for teams that play direct through balls against you and drop your defensive line to normal or even deeper if they pose a threat.

Thanks for the tips, mate. Will try out som PI tweaking. Closing less on CB’s made them stay more in line.

  7. I mist be doing something wrong here. Been trying this version of 4231, but can’t seem to stop conceding cheap goals. Any suggestions? The frustration of FM18 is starting to get to me. Every cross goes in, long goal kicks leads to a long through ball, central defenders just watch as attackers run or play around them.
