  1. Hi guys,

I have found an issue in game, the problem being that between 2021 and 2022/23 the format for the EURO u19s National side qualifiers changes.

The format at the start of games is u19s play in 13 groups of 4. Winners go to play offs along with a 2nd placed team and 7 join the hosts at the finals.

in 2021 however national sides u18s teams start competing in a preliminary group stage, I am managing San Marino and we have no U18s side. And since this format change my U19s no longer compete in any EURO qualifiers at all. Having looked, it is only us that dont have a U18 team. I cant find the correct bug forum to post in so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Wondering if anyone could help. I am currently playing a San Marino save and after the 3rd season, I noticed that the San Marino U19's are no longer playing in EURO Qualifiers. i can see that the format changes in 2022/23 season but it appears all other national teams have U18s teams who play in almost a nations league type structure.

Any idea on how this could be fixed.

This is what I had in Serie C - some could trial ahead of joining permanently, others could not. Just a little annoying as you can't start building up match fitness and squad cohesion. I guess it depends on the rules around trialists in Italy, as Sept 1st was the opening of the transfer window this summer so permanent transfers signing then made some sense.

Do you know if anyone done a save in Italy with a 'normal' side and can say whether the September thing exists in general? My worry is if football goes back to normal and the season starts in August later in the save, then no signings before then is going to be a major issue.

    End Of Season Review 2021/22

    Competitions

Vanrama National South - League Table     Results 1    Results 2    Results 3

An absolute storming season as we claimed the title with a record points total. This being my second attempt at the challenge I had a rough idea who to sign already. The real challenge begins next season.

    FA Cup - Results

A good cup run can really help kickstart the clubs finances and we done pretty well. We national league side Dulwich Hamlet before really giving Sutton 2 tough games before bowing out on penalties.

    FA Trophy - Results

I wanted a good run in this but we fell short early on.

    Playing Squad

    Squad    Best 11

For this level we have a cracking squad, all young and with potential to improve even further. We will need to bring in some better players though over the summer, as the step up I found massive on my 1st attempt. We have a decent core already though, and that is a good start. My 3 key men this season were:

Sean O'Brien -  The Irish ST signed on a free after his release from Millwall was absolutely scintillating. He scored an incredible 42 goals in 40 league games, and bagged 15 in 7 cup games. Lets hope he can keep that up next season.

Alex Mitchell -  Another youngster signed after being released by Millwall, the centre back had a solid season for us.

Herson Alves -  The Winger was already at the club when I joined and is easily one of our key men. 13 goals and 15 assists this season.

Financially I can see us struggling next season unless our crowd numbers jump up massively, or we get a decent cup tie.

    Youth Production

    Intake

Nobody to scream home about, and with no finances it will be a while before we can upgrade anything.

In my first attempt we finished 17th in our first season in the National League, I want to at least better that.

Did you find domestically it became boring though?

My thoughts are that in Italy you'd have Juve, Inter, AC Milan, Napoli, Roma etc to keep things interesting, whereas domestically in San Marino it wouldn't take too much to start dominating the league. Hence why I'm leaning towards solely doing the Italian league system, though admittedly there would be prize money from Serie A etc, more chance of getting better players easily etc.

I'm sorta in limbo and wouldn't have the time to manage in both leagues and the national side!!

When i did the two team save on fm19 i played with San Giovanni and played it with a policy of Sammarinesse players only. This kept it interesting for me anyway.

    Season Review 2023/24

League Table    Results 1    Results 2    Results 3    Squad    Finances    Best 11

Our 2nd season in the National League ended with a decent 11th placed finish, places and 13 points better off than last season. We started the season poorly again but got up to as high as 7th at one point. Another run of bad form led to a tactical shift, and we started playing an attacking 442 which led to results really improving, it even meant we was able to get to a first ever FA Trophy Final. We faced Boreham Wood who we had took points of this season so I thought a win could be on the cards. At half time we was 4-0 down and even though we pulled it back to 4-3 with 20 mins to play, it just wasn't to be. Still a final appearance helped the bank balance out abit and the progress shown on the field leaves me feeling optimistic that with the right signings over the summer, we can mount a push for the play offs next season.

@Lewis89 - good season but i have always found the VNL tough, the teams in it seem better than L2 which is always easier.

You need about 500K in the bank usually before a club will even consider turning pro and sometimes higher depending on the board. They will always tun pro if promoted to L2.

Cheers. Ive always found it pretty simple on previous versions, admittedly with teams that have better rep than my current side.

Yeah I've no chance on acquiring 500k without a FA Cup run, so could be stuck here for a while.

    Season Review 2022/23

League Table    Squad    Competitions    Finances    Manager Profile    Best 11    Transfers

I will be honest, I didnt expect this league to be so difficult. I have played many saves in this league but never one as a semi-pro side, and what a difference it makes. We spent the summer struggling to sign players of any real quality, and started the season with 1 win in 13 games. At this point, I thought relegation was nigh on a certain. We managed to bring in a few loanees from the higher divisions, who were not interested earlier on in the season and started to pick up the odd result here and there.  We had 2 separate 6 game unbeaten runs, but going into the last day, sat 20th, with 3 teams already down, and 17th-20th all on level points, it was all to play for. A solid 2-1 win over fellow part timers maidenhead secured our status for another season.

Next season is going to be just as hard, the board have flat out refused to turn professional and with us being only 1 of 3 semi pro sides in the league, I cant see us doing much better.

    2021/22 Season review.

    FA Cup - Results

    FA Trophy - Results

Its been a fantastic first season in charge. The base of the squad was already decent, and we trialled around 100 players and continued to add to the team over the whole season. We started on fire with a 13 game unbeaten run, before a small wobble that saw us win 1 of our next 5 games. Over the next 28 games, we lost just two more games as we romped to the title with 101 points. We also had a great cup run for so early in the save, getting to the 2nd round before losing narrowly to Wigan 2-1. The FA Trophy we sacrificed, our game was 3 days before the FA Cup game against Dulwich so we played a back up side and lost 3-0.

    Playing Squad

    Best 11    Squad 1    Squad 2   Transfers 1    Transfers 2

I can have 0 complaints with the team built for this season. With a step up in class, I will be looking to add a fair amount of players, and will do the usual of trialling as many players as possible over the summer. We dont have the money to really be paying any transfer fees so another summer of signing freebies is going to be the way forward.

    Youth Production

    Intake

With the facilities we have I am not expecting to develop anyone of real quality for a while yet. I have signed everyone from the first intake just to start adding some depth to the youth sides.

    Finances and Facilities

    Finances    Facilities

The FA Cup run saved us from ever going into the red. And its likely we will need another to avoid the same next season.

    Other bits/Next Season

    Manager Profile

The boards aim is to fight relegation bravely, but I think the current squad are capable of that, and with some additions over the summer I think we can avoid relegation comfortably. We also managed to get our national C and B licenses, and are currently studying for the A license.
