  1. As I see it, @h3nrique_SEP comes with a very legitimate complain that I share completely, and you can only tell him that all the tactics he tried are broken. Even if that is true, he should still be allowed to force his players to not shoot from distance, or a least have a much stronger impact on the decisions taken by the more 'disciplined' players (i.e. those with good decisions, teamwork, an whatever other traits you might think of). With the current ME, you can design the best tactic you're capable of as a moderately good FM player, follow all of the "experts" suggestions about role combinations, and still have Messi or Coutinho (as examples of players with highest tactical and mental skills) trying nonsensical shots from far away despite having much better options, just because they have the "shoot from distance" trait. To me, the actual topic of debate is "how much the team instructions and individual traits should influence the player choices". That is, how "disciplined" should the players be to their tactical instructions vs. personal preferences. In my opinion, since we all play this game as coaches/managers of a team, more weight should be given to tactical instructions: If I want my fullback to NOT CROSS balls, he should not it. If I want a guy to NOT SHOOT, he should not it, regardless of how many other options he has available when he has to take a decision. Not being able to enforce such options is ... well ... not realistic, and very frustrating. Currently, the game only allows soft restrictions in the form of "Cross less often" or "Cross more often", I would like a 3rd one that we could call "If you cross you'll be substituted". The same for shooting.
  2. I just managed to set up a very effective 4-2-3-1 with Dortmund in my current game. My tactic is very similar to yours, so I think you're really close to having a good tactic. In terms of TI, my advice would be to set the defensive line and the LoE to Higher instead of Much Higher. These are much better options if you want to use Hummels and Akanji. The former is too slow, and neither are agressive enough to chase/win the ball up high. It is even worse with Zagadou. Reus is working great for me as SS, with Witsel/Weigl as DLPde paired with a BBM. I don't see Reus as an AMsu. Also, I don't see Witsel as BWM. Much better as a CMde or DLPde given his excellent tactical skills. As a minor comment: make sure you sign a good replacement for Reus, since he'll miss half of the season due to injuries. Alcacer and Belotti (I also signed him) are doing well as Poachers or as PFat in away games when you're not favorite I use Guerreiro as FBat and he's doing great. On the right side, having a WBsu might be too offensive, leaving only two players (ie the CD) ready for the defensive transition. I use a FBde I'm not an expert in tactics so stick to the advices of others if they contradict me.
  3. I often have problems with Messi no matter which formation/role I try (4231 as AM and 433 as IF). His trait of running often is not quite what he has been doing the last 2 years, in which he played much more as a playmaker. It results in him trying to drible too often (thus I agree with @masno).
  4. I do complain about the number of long-range shots. My perception is that my tactical choice of "not shooting from long distances (or however it is called)" is completely useless. The players simply don't seem to follow the instructions. That's it. This is what I complain about. If I play slow, possession style, balanced mindset and 4 offensive players (many passing options), why Messi (smart player on the field) tries so often from long distance? In previous versions of FM, like FM2017, I understood that players with poor decision-making were prone to try absurd long shots. In FM2019 I have all sorts of players (including "smart ones") trying too often, including completely crazy attempts from furtheraway. It might be my fault. It is completely possible. It just seems that my previous knowledge about FM (about 10k hours played) is not sufficient to tell my players what to do in the pitch, which is something to think about... Bests
  5. I completely agree on all of this. Particularly, the high amount of longshots is driving me crazy
  6. I've played one season with Barça. Messi scored 6 goals in the domestic league in 33 appearances. Suarez 17 goals in 35 matches. Coutinho 2 goals in 28 matches. Dembele and Malcom, both 1 in ca. 15 non-complete matches. In turn, Lenglet, 8 in 30, Piqué 5 in 34, Umtiti and Pavard (signed) 3 in ca. 20 Matches. In summary: central defenders scored 19 goals in a season vs. 27 goals scored by three of the best attackers of the world in one of the bests teams. Concerning the manager (me), I have more than 4000 hours devoted at FM including the 2015, 2016 and 2017 editions. I think I know how to set tactics properly. It is evident to me that the ME is not well balanced. That said, I still enjoy playing it Greetings to all
  7. Dear Neil, No CTD so far... after many matches played. Indeed, I experienced a performance improvement by changing the render mode to "software" instead of GPU. This opens other questions, but the main problem is "solved", so to say. Thanks for your interest.
  8. Hi Felix, I've reinstalled the game, removed the custom skin, and played 2 matches after restarting my PC. No CTD, but I sistematically experience lags every time I change tactical instructions or change mentality settings during a match (and I'm not talking about the time the game takes to apply changes). I always experience these kind of lags prior to the CTD so I'm pretty sure that the problem is not solved. I'd bet It's a matter of time that I experience a CTD. I'll keep playing for the next 1-2 hours so I'll let you know.
  9. I'm having constant CTD during matches. I'm playing last version with Steam. I've done all I could to solve it (see below) but I didn't manage. I'm writing SI for help - Verified File Integrity with Steam. - Deleted Cache. - Checked that no customized files are in my SI folder in "Documents", except Vitrex17 2.0 skin. - Updated DirectX, Net.Framework, Windows, and Nvidia Drivers It occurs quite often when few games are played successively (I play 5 teams, so it happens quite often). No matter the graphics settings. I'm not even using 3D. No AV running. No "big" applications in Background. It just starts to run slowly and then it crashes. It is not reproducible. I attach the DxDiag. Thanks DxDiag.txt
