    [FM18] Using 2 x Carrilero

Thanks for this tip! The videos are very detailed and insightful for an amateur like me. It's a lot of information to take in and absorb, which is only a good thing. This is what I have been experiencing (or, what I think is happening) during my testing. I've recently kind of abandoned the idea for the time being, due to squad changes, and lack of any decent Carrilero's. I'll still post what I came up with eventually and maybe give it a full test in a new save.

    [FM18] Using 2 x Carrilero

Hi @herne79, Thanks for the quick response, much appreciated. Is it acceptable to post a screenshot of the tactic with the TI/PI's in this thread, along with reasoning, once I've settled on what I think could work?
  4. Hello, My question: is it tactically sound to be using 2 x Carrilero next to each other in a two-man Diamond midfield? I'm playing around with some tactical ideas in my head, and this one I need a little help from more experienced FM players. If it helps, the tactic I'm toying around with is a narrow-strikerless 4-1-2-3, with a DM/Su behind the midfield two. Here's the in-game description of the role, and I'm worried I'm taking the part in bold a little too literally. "The Carrilero – or “Shuttler” – is a supporting role more often than not utilised as part of a midfield three, or as two central midfielders in a diamond midfield. It is the job of these shuttlers to cover lateral areas of the pitch and link the defensive midfield area with the attacking midfield area. This is what separates the Carrileros from a Box-To-Box Midfielder, as they are not expected to shuttle between boxes, but merely between lines of the midfield. The role is that of a runner but also a water carrier for the team, should the team need it." I've used the search function to try find an answer to my question, but to no avail.
  5. Thanks for the update, appreciated! One short-term focus is what I have been doing in the meantime - but it's very limiting.
  6. Neil, Any update on this one?
  7. As someone who is also managing Harrogate Town, and currently struggling in the first season of the Championship, I found this to be an interesting thread. Nice work!
  8. Neil, Thank you for the quick response, especially over the holiday period. I look forward to a response.
  9. Hello, I've been experiencing crash dumps when doing short-term scouting. It usually happens the moment I confirm the 2nd focus. I've used this function before with no issues; and I'm only just using the feature again now after around 5 seasons. Please can you identify a fix as soon as possible. I have already installed the latest drivers on my graphic cards, verified the save game file within Steam, and also emptied the cache. Attached is the .dmp file. Thanks! 10. FC Tuggen Season 2013/2014: Mid-Season Update Probably the most action packed, exciting yet frustrating time in charge on FM this year for me. Struggling to even pick up a point, even at home, we now lie 7th (of 10). Seven points off 4th yet 6 points ahead of 10th so still pretty close with 17 games remaining. A new signing, Prince Tagoe on a free was reluctantly sold to Zurich for £1.4m (Chairman couldn't refuse). I was slightly upset by this at first but after some major coups from other clubs, eg, Topalov, Righi, Acapandie and Mustafa Dogon... we tighten up instantly and put in some good results, even winning three in a row. Now bigger clubs are sniffing after these players too!!! Plus, we're in the semi-final of the cup... against top of the league Basel. Hopes of a first final looked doomed! BTW, does anyone know how to create a table like GK so text is all in a nice straight line?! Easier to view if I list the achievements by year like him, and a few of you have done... looks good!
  11. FC Tuggen: Season 2012/2013 ruseview Well. I have finally been able to finish this season, it's certainly taken a while that's for sure (work, studying etc etc). But, we stayed up... just. After a mixed season it was between us, Aarau and Bellinzona for the automatic relegation spot and the playoff place. With a few games to go it looked likely we would tie up the 8th place position. However, results didn't go our way at all, and we ended up going into the playoffs with Servette and fighting for our Super League status. A 2-2 away draw was a nice and a 1-1 draw at home meant we stayed in the top flight for a second season! FC Tuggen 2013/2014 Update Eugh... 1 point from a possible 12
  12. After 18 Swiss Super League games, and lying in 8th out of 10. Nine points adrift from 7th. However, only 3 points seperate 7th through 2nd, so there was still hope for FC Tuggen in the 2nd half of the season. In the January transfer window, I made some use of the £500k spending money in order to accodomate the new fluid mentality we were preparing to switch for. New Years resolutions after all. Well, things didn't start off very well, with a 3-0 loss to 9th place Aarau. It was soon confined to memory though since we beat 2nd place Zurich 2-0 at home, and was followed by a 2-0 win away at 4th place Young Boys. Hope were high for the away game against struggling St. Gallen but an 8-3 defeat wasn't the best result, oh well.
  13. It's been a while since I've posted as it's been a while since I've played FM (Call of Duty:MW2... I'm sure you'll all understand got in the way)... been interesting reading about how people are doing, so firstly congratulations to cookie15 and supermas2 for their achievements respectively, and welcome to boynebattler. Quick Update from FC Tuggen... since I'd last played we'd won 2 of 2 in our first season in the Swiss Super League, after promotion the previous season. Well, the next ten games couldn't have gone any... worse. We now lie 8th of 10, which admittedly isn't that bad. Will certainly be looking to get some strength in depth to the squad soon, and having read that cookie15 always goes with an attacking mentality, I might give that a go. Not creating enough chances recently. Mike.
  14. @ freek_teek; Good work mate, I'm sure that's the start of something great! I like the idea of each user having a page to update their Gundo Challenge experiences. Thumbs up! For the time being, here's a quick update from FC Tuggen season 2012/2013 in the Super League in Switzerland, following promotion the season before. Well, in games one and two (against Zurich and Young Boys) we won 2-1 and 4-3, both in contraversial fashion, not that I'm complaining. Since then it's been rather depressing, however. In total, we've played 10 won 3, drawn 2, lost 5 and currently lie in 8th (out of 10). In all fairness, if the season finished yesterday and we were 8th, it would've been a successful season. Made a few new signings who I've been interested in purchasing since the first season, so far so average. Also signed a Swiss Under 21 defender who's solid and keeping my previous favourite DC out of the squad. Plus, the squad morale is kind of low since I accidently set the league bonus to low. I keep two saves files just in case, and in hindsight I could've gone back and not done it but I'm not that kinda guy so I have to get on with it for now. I'm changing my formation and tactics, I've decided. My 'arrow' formation was okay for smaller pitches in which we could play through the middle but now the pitches in the Super League are huge and we're struggling. Going to revert to Arsenal style of 4-3-3, which looks defensively more sound and plays wider. Basically a reverse of the current 'arrow' formation. My new winger, Karim Yoda should cope with his instructions. Won't have time to try it out until maybe Wednesday now unfortunately. Good Luck to everyone else here...
  15. Update from FC Tuggen Season 2011/2012 First things first, the takeover was a success after initial doubts over the prospected new Chairman's bid. I can't remember his name but he was happy to keep me in the FC Tuggen hotseat, albeit with no extra financial backing for transfers. I could spend hours typing a season review so basically, we got promoted! I honestly cannot believe it and I guess it also has it's advantages and disadvantages. We have turned 'professional', can attract bigger names players to the club, improvement to the training facilities have begun, more coaches, scouts and physio's can be employed, and I'm sure there's loads more but I can't think of all the possibilities right now! No doubt I'll spend hours scouting players and a large percentage of the £1,000,000 TV revenue! I'll stop showing off now because next season will be brutal as Winterthur (other team promoted in 2011) only won two games all season. Mid season we bought a new left back, Cavas... absolutely brilliant and not sure why his old team let him go, and was suprised that he accepted since according to his client he wasn't interested in a move to FC Tuggen. Again, had to break the bank to afford his wages, but the gamble certainly paid off. Almost forgot to mention, Damiano Tommasi on a free transfer too Highlights of the season include Ray Pratt, Steve Porter and Vladimir Peralta having unbelievable seasons, with the latter winning Player of the Season. Myself? Manager of the Season... I hardly played Ventola at all due to the change in tactics (read 2010's Tactic Theorem... it works!) and now he's retired. Won 5 - 1 at home to relegated Servette FC. Won the season on the very last day where I needed 3 points to guarantee 1st place. Anyway, here are some pictures: http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/ab59/collindinho/promotion.jpg http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/ab59/collindinho/promotion2.jpg http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/ab59/collindinho/promotion3.jpg http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/ab59/collindinho/promotion4.jpg http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/ab59/collindinho/promotion5.jpg http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/ab59/collindinho/promotion6.jpg ps. I went wrong with paint so that's why there is slight overlap but you get to see the important stuff pps. Also have a 16 year old promoted, and seriously this guy will be our leading star for many many years... bet I have to sell him though. Mike.
