  1. I played this system for 4 matches until I lost confidence in it, bought a LM and play a 4-4-2 now. The 4 games were WBA (2-1), Everton (0-1), Blackburn (FA Cup, 1-0), and Stoke (0-3). They are two main problems. There is no penetration to danger their goal and after we lose the ball there is so much space on the wings. When the opponents full back overlaps there are 2-1 situations nearly every time. Nearly every goal we conceded was after open crosses. I saw someone rushing with FC United Of Manchester through the leagues with such a tactic without a second Winger. But I don't have an idea how to cover the wings better in such a system.
  2. I finally gave up Sunderland, the morale was down because Yaya Toure wanted to play more, half of the team thought I was right to tell him I can't do anything for him, the other half was his opinion. Finally Swansea gave me a chance to better my image. They want me to play a passing style so this approach fits perfectly. But the thing is they have one Winger that is good, but like 4 strikers on first team level. I set up a 4-1-3-2 but I'm not sure if this really works. Our first game was a 2-1 win against WBA but the winner game in minute 92 so nothing I'm too happy with. That's my system. I'm not sure how the midfield 3 work together if they are too narrow to play a good possession style. Also I worry about the Full Backs. I feel that you get killed by crosses into the back of the Centre Backs when the Wings are too open. It would be nice if someone could work out some things I can change to make the tactic better.
  3. Now I have an idea why nothing works with this team. What a style I can play with them? I mean they can literally nothing. Counter Attacking won't work because of the bad decision making, just pumping the ball into the box and hope for something can't work because there are no tall and powerful players, possession/attacking won't work because they are all bad^^,
  4. That's the stats for our game at WBA and the tactics. A 2-2 looks not that bad but the goals were a header after a corner and a Penalty. Since I play with the possession approach I feel there was not one single goal created through the approach. I'm not happy with the Poacher in the tactic, but I think a False Nine is too deep when you have an AM behind it (?). Lozano has an attack duty because he is now the outstanding player in our squad and I want him to create something on his own sometimes. The main problem is we concede very dumb goals I think. Against City Lichtsteiner crossed for times into the back of our line and Agüero and Griezmann had easy goals. Nearly the same the goals against WBA. Before I created the 4-2-3-1 I played my favorite 4-1-2-2-1. But with it there were the batterings against City, United, Arsenal, Leicester etc. Looked like that:
  5. Also I think it's pretty typical for this board that when someone criticises the work of some of the "holy experts" other moderators come and tell you that u don't understand the game, the thread and everything in the world. The fact is, with his approach he tells me, "hey, you can play a possession approach with a mid-table squad. AND WIN THE LEAGUE". And when you try out to do exactly this, to play a possession approach it's pretty frustrating to get hammered every game.
  6. I didn't copy Cleons System. But I play with a possession approach. And this post tells me that it works with mediocre teams, but I get smashed every matchday.
  7. Sorry, but after a while I think the championship wasn't won with this tactic. I try a similar approach with Sunderland, 2nd season bought players that should work in a possession game... Results? 3:0 battering against United in Community Shield, 0:4 at City, 0:2 without any chance against Leicester, 1:5 at Anfield etc. They just pass the ball around, don't create chances and the defense allows 25-30 Shots per game.
  8. I really want to know who did the research for Roberto Di Matteos manager profile. As a manager of Hull he plays a narrow 4-3-3 with THREE CENTRE STRIKERS in a relegation battle against Sunderland on Matchday 37. That's completely not how I remember Di Matteo...
  9. No definitely not. That makes absolutely no sense in my opinion and I never noticed attributes going down after promotion. Also some attributes can't be really adjusted I think. When someone can run 100m in 12 seconds he's fast in every league for example.
  10. FSV Mainz 05 - Season 2019/20 Transfers: And AGAIN the board sold an important player without my "permission". But because Öztunali is a pure Winger and I played with Inside Forwards/Wide Midfielders and after a bad run in January and February a 5-3-2 only with Full Backs I didn't miss him at all. In January then Jhon Cordoba left, who helped us staying up in the last season because Muto was awesome and our Youth Product Jonathan Burkhardt and the absolute bargain Renat Dadachov were solid enough. On the other side, there were some huge deals. I don't like old players at all but after I wasn't able to win more than a Europa League in 5 years with an ever young Leverkusen I decided to bring in the experienced Cahill and Castro. Also we spend a club record fee for Polish talent Kapustka and 9M for FM legend Balanta who then was immediately injured for 5 months. In winter I adjusted the squad with Iver Fossum, who wasn't needed at Chelsea and Mammana to have enough quality CBs to be able to play a formation with 5 at the back. Jacob Bruhn Larsen I loaned from Dortmund and he'll stay for 7,5M. I can tell that he was awesome until he suffered the same injury as Balanta and was out for the season. Results: This season was AWESOME. We could have gone for Champions League spot 3 but for the last two matches all of our Full Backs were suspended or injured so I had to play some bollox 3-5-2 without a real cover for the back three. The other option was a back four with 4 CB like Germany at the World Cup 2014 so I was wrong I think. But u have to see from where we come so this 5th place is pretty nice. Continental football in the next season! Also we won the cup but where pretty lucky to do so. Bayern and Dortmund were gone after Round 2 and 2. Bundesliga side Fürth beat Leverkusen in the other Semi Final. Our Semi Final against my former club Nürnberg was at least pretty funny. Some random screenshots...
  11. @Hootieleece Yeah, that's a thing in Germany I think. I'm in love with the actual Bayern squad in this save, I hope that I can take over from Carlo in the next few seasons.
  12. Awesome season mate! Nice to see you winning promotion early on. The picture of the squad is fine I think. When I click on it it gets bigger.
  13. Is Real just that good or why are you struggling so much? I mean, they give you a battering in nearly every Clasico. But anyways this Real and the Real today can't be compared with the 2008-2010 Real in my opinion. They were so bad at this time and today they might not be a team of tactical masterclass but with sooooo many individual class that they can beat everyone.
  14. 1. FSV Mainz 05 ~ Season 2018/19 ~ Fighting against relegation When I took the job Mainz was sitting on Relegation spot 17 with a team that should have played a quiet season in the middle of the table. As I told in the previous post, the first two matches weren't that bad with an unlucky defeat against Freiburg and a solid win against 1860 Munich. After 17 games we then sat on Play-Off spot 16 so I was hopeful to get the team out of any trouble. In the winter break, I was confident of signing some serious improvements, especially because I had a budget of around 20M €. But in the end, I only signed experienced Center Back Marvin Matip from 2. Bundesliga side Ingolstadt and Goalkeeper Mande Sayouba who didn't extend his contract at Stabaek as backup for Jonas Lössl. I wasn't too sure what to do with tactics. I have too many technical wise fine players to play an all and all Counter Attacking but for possession football the is too bad in general. In the end I decided to play something like a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1. As you can see this didn't work out THAT well. I felt like in FM15 where I was so bad at tactics that I lost with a mediocre Hannover side 12 out of 13 games. I was sure that I'll be sacked in the next weeks. But then I tweaked the tactic a little bit again and a miracle of Mainz happened... Suddenly we won against giants FC Bayern and after that a goals galore in Bremen. We lost only one more important game, away against high flyers Leipzig. The last game could have been a serious Relegation thriller in Munich but after we won against Freiburg we were 3 points and around 10 goals clear the Munich Lions (they were 16th, the Play-Off spot), so I played a heavily rotated squad in this game. In the end we were able to stay in the league but I wasn't happy at all. In Batterings like the 6-0 in Dortmund, I don't want to be the 0 anymore since I improved heavily in tactics and stuff in the last months. Unfortunately I don't have a screen of the team. Sorry about that... Here is the final league table. Remarkably is that we lose the 4th Champions League spot to Italy after this season. Until we'll be able to fight for this spots the other clubs hopefully will have "won" this back. Next Post: 2019/20 ~ Fight for Relegation or establishing Mid-Table?
  15. Lovely challenge to do in my opinion. I didn't know that Arsenal Kyiv was refounded like Rangers e.g. so it's even more interesting to see.
