  1. First of, please note that this has been posted in the bugs forum and I therefore apologize in advance for double posting. This issue is driving me mad though, and i can't tell if I'm doing anything wrong here (most likely I am) or there is some kind of bug.

The issue is that whatever I do, I'm still only given the option to 'scout until full knowledge' in the transfer centre (and inbox). I've changed the duration to 1 week as I'm used to from previous versions of FM (FM21 and backwards - not versions of the current FM22).

After messing around with the duration and 'reload skin' I know have 'check mark' and 'X' instead of 'acknowledge' and 'not interested' that I had before, so something is going on. I believe the solution could be to deleted or edit some config file but I don't know which. I do not use any skins but do have the realism pack. This issue was present before I installed the ac, and i do have another save of that. Have also uninstalled and reinstalled to no help.

So if any of you have any ideas, as this version of FM is becoming unplayable (ok, unenjoyable then) as my main strength has always been scouting/squad building and I know see myself spending time going to player cards to use the drag down 'scout for one week'. It's time consuming but most importantly frustrating.

    Thanks in advance /Anders

  2. Hi

If I remember correctly I believe we had the option to assign a scout to a specific short term focus; e.g. a specific nation for a duration of say 3 weeks looking for players under X years old. I can't seem to find this option in 21 though. Was it removed?

(I see that the transfer windows recruitment meetings results in some short term focus reports, but I'm asking about the feature in which the manager could completely specify where to look for what)

  3. Hi

As the title says, my B team head coach has for some reason stopped arranging friendly matches. I have plenty of players for him to make a starting 11 and several of them are needing match fitness. Also, the box "B team head coach arranges friendlies" is ticked (also tried unpicking it). Plenty of B team friendlies were played first year, i arranged them myself second year but now i third season it has become somewhat tedious. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

easy , dont update the game 🤣

If that meant that the game would be fixed, it would actually be a huge ( H U G E ! ) improvement. Adding "new" features and leaving them unfinished is no update to me - on the contrary even.
The ME should be main focus as it has a lot of work to be done on. For people that don't want to go FM Touch we should have the option to disable or "turn down" press conferences and player interaction. Fix the side line shouts or remove them. Second priority (after ME) should be improvements to AI (squad building especially).

  5. Well, i hope that FM21 will be better than previous versions, that have had very little or no improvements.

I feel the game would be much better of, if you actually stopped adding new (and "new") stuff.
Did we need social media? Who really cares. Instead we should have the opportunity to turn it off completely.
Did we need VAR? It doesn't even work right in real life. Also, you can tell the decision by noticing if the players stay in the penalty area.
World Cup in Dubai. Why not make a statement and pass it on to another country and avoid a messed up fixture list. Or at least give the user the option to.
Did we need touch line shouts? Spamming "demand more" and "get creative" becomes tedious. It's unfinished.
Now we get more interaction with players... I hope the hugging thing is a joke (?!).

But seriously, it seems the fixing of the match engine is becoming to big off a task, so you instead procrastinate your way through minor meaningless additions. Fix what you've started first. Start with the match engine. Improve multi-threading allowing bigger saves. Improve AI squad building making the journeyman save more enjoyable. Fix the endless off sides. Fix the 1 on 1s. I can't say fix ME enough. Fix unfinished business instead of trying whatever "new" you fancy and doesn't finish anyway.

Well, that's exactly the problem - and the major mistake that most people make when thy want to play counter-attacking football. Because unlike passive defensive styles (e.g. catenaccio or parked bus), where lower team mentalities make sense, counter-attacking football is a more proactive brand of defensive football that relies on fast transtions. And those fast transitions work much better on a higher or at least balanced team mentality. So when I want to play a counter-attacking style, I opt for either Balanced or even Positive team mentality - not cautious. Defensive solidity and compactness that counter-attacking football requires are not achieved through the team mentality but the combination of D-line and LOE as well as a balanced setup of roles and duties.

But you don't want to share even your roles and duties, let alone the rest of the tactic, so I really cannot tell you what else (i.e. besides the mentality) you are potentially doing wrong and how you can improve the tactic.

Not once during those match previews has any of my players (on several different teams) seemed to understand this. Being an underdog the only "agreed upon" mentality seems to be cautions or below, which I think adds to the confusion of many FM players.

  7. Hi

This year I've been struggling with FM. It seems that anything but attacking, gegenpressing, overlapping, etc. tactics are MUCH harder to get to work, than simple 4-4-2, 4-1-2-2-1, 4-1-4-1 formations with little to none team instructions. As I usually start as underdog teams I'm having a hard time getting momentum as defensive tactics just seems sub par in every situation. I'm not going to use plug and play tactics (but don't mind others do) and I'm not going 4-2-3-1 attacking even though it often is the best solution.

So, has anyone examples of s i m p l e tactics that you would be able to imagine a low level underdog team play?

  8. I can't believe this isn't an option already. If I have a Scandinavian scout with knowledge of Denmark, Sweden etc. of course he should be assigned to a short term focus in this region.

Same goes for South America, USA, Africa and so on.

Since the scouts develop their knowledge of a country/region by scouting we should be able to micromanage these short term focuses to build a specific scouts specific knowledge.

Also, it should be possible to scout a competition (say U19) without the 4 weeks restriction.

I guess what I am looking for is a mix of general and short term scouting, that in greater detail let's the user decide to what degree he/she want's to micromanage the scouting system.
