  1. I had Spurs at home followed by Palace & Watford away. I actually beat Spurs 1-0 but got done comfortably 2-0 at Palace. Left me needing a point on the last day at Watford but that was assuming WBA won. They didn't and I got a point away so stayed up with just 38. I got a budget of 50M to spend in transfers! I wish Assem was this kind IRL. Here is who i signed I tried to get players in as early as possible and needed more bodies after the 6 loans expire. Most of them pretty cheap apart from Mere who had a relegation clause and Traore who was transfer listed due to Boro going down. Wasn't sure how he'd fit my system as I don't play wingers but i couldn't turn down somebody that quick! I set my expectations again to attempt to avoid relegation. Anyway, the season started and it was the complete opposite to last season! Unbeatenin the first 8 games and looking unplayable at times. I have since lost 5 of the next ten but 3 of those were United, City and Spurs. Stand out players were Adama Traore, Henriksen & Bruno Cesar (signed him last Jan). Traore had 6 goals and 4 assists in 11 but then got a 3 month injury, Cesar had 5 goals and 7 assists in 13 before he got injured for 3 months and Henriksen has 7 in 18 but his form has dropped a little since the other 2 got injured. Currently under another embargo and we're coming up to the January window so might not be able to do any business. A top half finish would be nice but it's very unlikely i'll get relegated so a third season in the Prem it is!
  2. Currently playing as Hull, almost completed my first season. Don't think i've ever struggled as much as I am here. Struggled for weeks with who to play where, what system to play and everything else. I didn't win in my first 13 games (6 draws at least) and couldn't find anything that worked. I kept changing between Hernandez and Berbatov (signed on a free) but neither of them scored a goal. Eventually Niasse buried but i'm since playing a false 9 with Maloney as the main man, that's how desperate i was! I've got a little bit better now and with 3 games to go i'm 17th but only 2 points from safety. I was in the bottom three up until about gameweek 33. Had a great F.A cup run but was beaten in the semis by Newcastle on penalties after an epic 4-4 draw. EFL cup i lost to Walsall.... Star player has probably been Robertson, at one point he was my top scorer, he's got 6 now in all comps with 7 assists. Maloney has 9 with 10 assists in all comps and he's my top scorer. Transfer market i got a bit done. Got rid of Meyler, Diomande, Bowen and Tymon on loan and in January i let Hernandez go to WBA for 8M, Evandro to Newcastle 4.5M and Elmo out on loan, couldn't wait to get rid of him. Signed solid players who have improved my squad but nobody has really stood out. Wanting a takeover soon although I have made a nice profit of 50M so hoping for some funds next season whatever league i'm in.
  3. Nation: France? Holland? Division: Preferably top but wouldn't mind going lower. European Competition: Don't care Media Prediction: Don't care Board Expectation(s): Any Transfer Budget: Not needed Wage Budget: Not neded Finances: No debt Other: Looking for a team that has a strong youth system so within a few seasons I can have a reasonable amount of Home Grown players in my squad. That's pretty much all i'm after although I am looking to stay in one of the "better" leagues but avoiding England all together. Thanks in advance!
  4. Another Crewe update https://gyazo.com/04373bcab3ae4b1851cca1d1b4ef657d So 13th after 28 is better than i expected, especially as it took me so long to win my first game. Defensively i've got comfortably the worst record in the division, same for my discipline too but I can at least find the back of the net. I reached the League Cup semi's before bowing out 4-1 on aggregate against United who are miles head in the League so can't really complain. Got an FA Cup 5th round replay coming up too at home to Everton. In the league i've had some strange games and taken some absolute beatings. United beat me 5-0 and City, 7-1! I've had a 3-3 with Everton, 4-3 with Reading and even a 4-4 with Arsenal and despite not being able to defend i went to Stamford Bridge and won 2-0.... I did a lot of business in January and sold many fringe players. Meyler (300k), Powell (2M), Kriz (1.5M), Gestede (525K), Darikwa (600K), Chester (300K) and Gibson (Free) all left. I brought in some great players. Michy Batshuayi was signed permanently for just 2M and has already started scoring, including all 4 in the draw with Arsenal. I then got Jores Okore in on loan and he's certainly improved my Defence but he's currently injured. Levin Oztunali was brought in on loan to replace Gibson and Adrian Marin was signed for 1.5M from Villareall to replace Kriz but he's barely played at all. My biggest signing however, was Patrick Bamford, cost me a transfer record of 7.75M but i'm expecting big things. He's got 1 in 2 starts so far but is just coming back from injury. Deadline day i got Borja Mayoral on loan from Real. I've started playing a 442 so thought i'd add another striker in case of injury. He scored on his debut. So, so far so good. I'm not expecting to go down as the gap is already 10 points but i don't think i'll finish any higher than 14th but with a nice looking balance already and a tycoon in charge things are already in place to really make some progress next season!
  5. Roberts has done ok but he's been in and out of the side as I have a lot of wide options. Doesn't help that he's been injured A LOT. Rabiot has been playing Centre Midfield support. Can see from his stats it doesn't really suit him but i didn't want to change my whole system for one player. I've started playing with a 442 after signing some strikers though and he should be good in the DLP role i've added.
  6. I've been living in China for the past couple of seasons. I'm about 30 minutes from Hangzhou but i've managed to catch a few Shenhua games. Looking forward to next season, especially if they get Lavezzi. Tickets are so cheap for football here! Anyway, although this league has a lot of money the standard of Chinese football is very, very poor. If it was a five aside league it would probably be the best league in the world but they need some international coaching over here because the way they play is SO different even at amateur level. I actually started a save as Shenhua a short while back but couldn't really get into it but i might try again when the patch is out as they have Guarin and hopefully Lavezzi!
  7. Hi all, Finally got round to starting my first season in the premiership as Crewe after going up as Champions. Just got through the transfer window and this is what I did: https://gyazo.com/49f6fc01ba42f964f2d1489609acb443 Current squad Goalkeepers – Mitchell Beeney, Lawrence Vigouroux Beeney is the No.1 and impressed last season in the Championship. Still young and time to improve too. Vigouroux was just brought in on a free and will provide cover. Full Backs - Ryan Fredericks, Tendayi Darikwa, Kyle Walker Peters, Stepan Kriz (regen) Fredericks is the first choice RB with Walker Peters being the first choice LB. If he does well I can turn his loan into a permanent deal for 7.5M. If Fredericks stays fit I imagine Darikwa will leave in January to lack of first team football and Kriz is a 19 year old regen with room to improve but I cant imagine he’ll ever make it as a first choice LB for me. Centre Backs – Micah Richards, Shane Duffy, Kevin Akpoguma, James Chester Richards is now 30 but was brought in on a free and could be an important signing if he manages to stay fit. Duffy is the club captain but had some awful discipline last season and has struggled so far this time round and Akpoguma was a 1.5M buy from Hamburg who’s looked half decent so far. Was a bit worried about the lack of depth what with Duffy’s discipline and Richards injury proneness so added James Chester on a free just as cover. Centre Midfield – Darron Gibson, David Meyler, Nick Powell, Ryan Mason, Adrien Rabiot, Charly Musonda, Adama Traore As you can see, quite a lot of players. I tried to offload Meyler and agreed deals with several teams but he couldn’t agree on a contract. Rabiot was disappointing on loan last season but at 2M I thought it was an opportunity I couldn’t really turn down. Gibson is actually playing on a non contract basis for now. His deal expired but I haven’t got rid yet! Mason cost me 3.4M and I’m hoping he can be the star, will add some vital experience which is needed as my squad is quite young. Powell, Traore and Musonda can all play this role but they’re probably better off further up the pitch. Wingers and No.10’s – Jesse Lingard, Jordan Graham, Wilfried Zaha, Patrick Roberts, Mohammed Soltani (regen), Lingard was the star man last season but for some reason wants to leave, despite signing a new deal. I accepted offers of 20M in the summer only for him to reject terms with Atalanta and Livorno. Graham and Zaha are the exact players I like out wide. Direct, quick and get to the byline and fire in a cross in. A bit old fashioned if you like. Roberts was a big signing for 4.5M and I’ve slowly started to integrate him into my line up and Soltani is an 18 year old regen already good enough for my first team so will be interesting to see how he gets on. Strikers – Rudy Gestede, Jason Cummings, Izzy Brown Probably the weakest area of my squad. Gestede and Cummings did reasonably well in the Championship last season without setting the world alight. Neither have scored yet this season. Izzy Brown might end up playing here. I originally signed him to play on the wing but with Graham in great form and a lack of forward options I guess I’ll give him some opportunites. He got 8 in 28 at Burnley last season so that’s a pretty decent return. So that’s my squad and I’m now 4 games into this season. However, it hasn’t gone to plan so far. I’ve played 4, lost 4. My saving grace was a 4-0 victory at Birmingham in the League cup with Graham bagging a hat trick. My opening game was United at home, perfect fixture right?! Anyway, after a goalless first half I actually took the lead through Zaha. They equalised via a dubious penalty and then 86 minutes Fredericks gets a second yellow. 91st minute they swing in a corner, Rabiot gives away a penalty for pushing and they score it. Unbelievable. Second game was just as frustrating. 8 minutes (yes 8) Darikwa who was covering for Fredericks is given a second yellow and we’re down to 10 AGAIN. I manage to lead 1-0 and then 2-1 but eventually they got it to 4-2. Their fourth was also a penalty. I got another back but got beat 4-3. Arsenal outplayed me 3-0 and then WBA have just beat me at home 3-1. It was 1-1 until I went down to ten men AGAIN. Richards sent off for two bookings this time. So things can only get better from here, hopefully can pick up the first points and first win sooner rather than later and that will probably happen If I can sort out the discipline! Got a few days off now so hoping to spend a fair bit of time on this save. Good luck to all!
  8. Haven't updated this in ages. In fact i think i was back in League 1 the last time i did an update. Anyway, after winning promotion to the Championship i have since finished top on 91 points and won promotion to the Premiership. First season in the Championship i managed a reasonable 13th but after that i got a takeover from an Italian tycoon and never looked back. He gave me 7.5M to spend in transfers and although i actually made a profit on transfers by the end of the season it was being able to offer higher wages which helped me achieve promotion. I built a decent side with a lot of ex premiership players and finished it off with some high quality loans in January. Mitchell Beeney was my first goalkeeper, released by Chelsea and he's progressed well throughout the season and is probably just about good enough for the top division. Full Backs, i had Ryan Fredericks at Right Back who cost me only 250k and was one of the signings of the season. Played virtually every game and wracked up several assists. Just signed a new 3 year deal too. Left Back was a bit of an issue, had James Husband on loan but he was injured for a lot of the season so used a Czech regen who was half decent but will need to improve that position for next season. Also got Darikwa as back up to Fredericks in January so i'm pretty solid there. Centre Backs, Shane Duffy is the club captain and although he has discipline issuse he's pretty solid so will keep him for next season. Also got Cameron Humphreys and Tosin Adarabioyo on loan from Man City. Both did well and might see if i can tempt one of them here permanently. Centre Midfield, i used Darron Gibson and David Meyler from the beginning of the season and they both completely ran the show, particularly Gibson. However, in January i managed to tempt Adrien Rabiot and Lewis Baker on loan until the end of the season. Rabiot was a massive disappointment although i still took the 2M future fee i'd arranged in the hope of some profit in the future. Baker was outstanding though with an average rating of 7.67 from 19 appearances. I've tried to sign him permanently but have struggled so far. Will keep trying! I had Matt Grimes too but he only made 12 appearances. Futher forward i had Jesse Lingard, Nick Powell, Jordan Graham as the first choice three behind the striker. Lingard eventually ended up as fans player of the year with 17 goals and 11 assists, starting every single game. Jordan Graham completely outdid his stats and is a great winger at Championship level and Powell chipped in with 6 goals from 32 appearances. I also got Callum Mcmanaman at the start of the season but he spent the majority of his time out injured and i tempted Wilf Zaha on loan in January and he was different class so i've just made his deal permanent for just 2.5M! Up front i had Rudy Gestede who cost me 400k. He got 10 in 32 which isn't bad and he took turns with Jason Cummings over the No.9 role. Cummings ended up with 14 in 37, so pretty similar. Will look for a new Left Back, Centre Back, Centre Midfielder, Winger and Striker in the summer. Already had Jesse Lingard tell me he wants to leave as i can't agree a new deal and the same with Darron Gibson. Will move some fringe players on too like Mcmanaman and one or two others. Looking forward to the new season and with a few good additions i reckon i can get 17th!
  9. Anybody had any luck with Jordan Graham? I signed him with Crewe 2 seasons ago for just 35k and he's turned out to be an absolute steal! 6 goals and 13 assists last season and 5 and 8 this season. Just been promoted to the Prem and he's now worth 5.5M so hoping he can make the step up. Would advise anybody just beginning a save to keep hold of him, particularly if you like to play direct wingers, he's perfect.
  10. So the second season has started rather promisingly so far. I’ve continued my good form from the end of last season into this one. After 11 games I’m 3rd. Only the one defeat away at Oldham with 8 wins and 2 draws. Was pretty happy with the standard of players I managed to attract in the summer. I actually agreed to sign Callum Elder once his deal had expired but he couldn’t get a work permit even after an appeal?! Couldn’t complain at getting Conor Townsend instead though and he’s already got 4 assists in his first 3 starts. McCarey and Beeney will battle for the no.1 spot, Coulibaly will probably cover Dalla Valle and Donacien will probably play alongside Davis (if they’re ever fit at the same time). Anyway, last season I really suffered from lack of squad depth. I didn’t really have anybody to cover the front three if they got injured but I’ve definitely got that this season. A negative point is definitely the amount of injuries I’ve had/have. Before the season had even begun I was without Townsend, Dalla Valle, Turton, Ngoy, Saunders and Davis. To make matters worse Coulibaly my new signing was away on international duty with Ivory Coast. It meant Andre Brown, a striker who I was developing in my U21’s had to start the first two games of the season. He certainly delivered though, scoring the winner in the opener against Plymouth and then setting up my 2 goals in the 4-2 defeat to Huddersfield. After that he got injured too…. Got a few promising young players out on loan who I might add to my squad at some point in the next two seasons.
  11. Hi all, thought i'd join the fun here. Anyway, i took over Crewe at the end of December. They were 24th but still in the mix for staying up. I didn't manage to win until my fifth game in charge, beating Millwall 2-1 away. They were 3rd at the time so it came as a bit of a surprise. I actually only won 2 of my first 10 games but only lost 3 of my last 14 after a change in formation. Ended up 19th but did sort of crawl over the line! Not too many positives so far, Della Valle signed a new deal after bagging 18 league goals and Callum Elder, my only signing of the season was different class at Left Back. Hoping to sign him permanently when his Leicester contract expires. Besides that, David Fox one of my better players wants 3k a week to sign a new deal, which is way out of my budget. Ben Garratt who is far too good for league one to be fair, wont sign a new deal so he's probably going to leave on a free. Got 3 players leaving shortly following their loans expiring and set a few more for release in the hope of freeing up a bit of the wage budget. The only reason i chose Crewe in the first place was because of the facilities but they've already been downgraded due to financial issues so that backfired....Anyway, hoping to do a little better next season. Would take around 14th and hope to avoid another relegation battle like this season!
