yeah the game looks really good. new positional play is really smooth so far which should help the tactics to fit better. no players running into the same space

squad wise we look well balanced, both Doak and Bajcetic look very good. Harvey is now a natural CM instead of an AMR

I still can't work out whether to wait for the new look FM25 and miss this years version or to buy it....:seagull:

    Season 6

Yeah, another season, another CL failure. 2nd in the league to Arsenal due to an awful patch, and won both domestic trophies. Darwin was bloody excellent, but he kept getting niggles meaning he would miss big games and I think that contributed to the league failure. He still ended up with 24 league goals though.

Image17-08-2023at12_11.thumb.jpeg.f345cc04f281ac2ff5702c49b6ca4b2a.jpegOn the new season and transfer wise - Nothing much to report other than Diaby left for an £41Mil, which was a good return on a free transfer. Celleher left on a free after a number of years good service as our number 2.

On the other hand, I've promoted couple of regens. Martins at LB and Rousselle (who was signed for £55mil a couple of seasons back) into the first team fold, to phase out some of the older players. Alexandre is going to replace Gomez, who leaves on a free, as backup CB. Beyond that, Rice and Bajcetic are CB cover. I've also got a backup keeper with 5* potential so he'll play the easy CL games and all cup games.

    Onto Season 7

I'm in Jan right now and I'm well clear in the lead. This season has been a dawdle so far, but I'm nowhere near the business end so irrelevant so far. Below is my current squad.

    Image21-08-2023at09_19.thumb.jpeg.902505d7a1ed4a93323d54eab184eb25.jpeg

Very sad that Darwin is now 29, but he's a club legend now. Endrick is well primed to eventually take over, particularly as he's now one of my few 5* players. Rousselle went from backup this season to cemented started. He's absolutely brilliant and will definitely only get better, according to my coach reports.Image21-08-2023at09_21.thumb.jpeg.4019e9b63adc3beabf3e2f3e1834569a.jpeg

another one who's on the verge of first choice is my CB Alexandre who's come on leaps and bounds this year. Konate is leaving on a free end of season anyway, as he wanted 400k a week. No thanks pal, you're 30 in 4 months. Anyway, a few ball skills to work on and plenty of development room to do so.

    Season 1

Won the league, as you can see above. A lot of the good football didn't really kick in till later on in the season, particularly from some individuals. Nunez was my top league scorer with 19 league goals, Salah hit 40 g/a in all comps and Trent ended the season with 12 assists. No signings made, felt my squad was actually pretty strong! Got to the CL final and lost to Bayern, who I had beaten in the groups! Bit gutted but one better next season?

    Season 2

Started off the season by seeing an unhappy Musiala at Bayern so asked my DOF to sign him. £89M for one of, if not, the top talent in football? Yep. In my head, I'm thinking that he can rotate with Diaz (LW) and Elliot (MC Mez) so that adds good depth and allows me to get rid of some one (Ended up being Bobby). Bardghi also seemed a no brainer, not costly but had bags of potential. Anyway, wanted my young guns to play and not sit on the sidelines, so you'll see that I sent most of them out.

Domestically, I was running the show. Only got to the quarters of the CL this time, Bayern again put me out after we won the first leg 2-0, we got overturned 3-0 in the return leg despite having 2xg! Arsenal ended up winning this year, what a disaster!

Similar to real life, I organised my transfers early. Bellingham and Scalvini were signed in April to arrive in the summer which would massively upgrade my first team. Bellingham 4.5 starts, Scalvini 4 with potential for 5. I trusted my scouts knew what they were doing!

    Season 3

Think I left my squad a bit light for the sake of arranging Naby's next move and Bajcetic' development. Naby moved on loan with a mandatory £45M fee, Bajcetic went on loan to Dortmund with the promise of being first team - Jackpot! Jones also went on loan as he needs to play.

Gakpo went for a really cool £57M deal and my only signing was transfer listed Fabian, who was happy to be a squad player on 100k. Perfect. Turns out my squad is light and he's playing all the time! Anyway, in December and we're joint top, still in CL and domestic cups. In the Jan window, I'll most likely recall Jones or Bajcetic to add a bit of weight to my squad.

I'm rotating between 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 right now, don't really do much else unless forced to with sending offs.

Also, here's another summary of the squad

Salah is just class and has won World player of the year. Him and VVD are keen on exploring options at the end of the season. Considering his form, I've offered Salah 400k on a 2 year deal - fingers crossed he stays or i'll need to find a replacement which will be expensive!

Quick question, where did you the $274 mil from to spend in season 2?

Here are my most notable signings for my latest career (completed 2 seasons) after offloading all the aging ones (Thiago, Fabinho, Henderson, Matip, Salah, Firmino, etc.) - a.k.a. "Team of Wonderkids":

    • Alexander Isak (73M->105M): Replaced Darwin Nunez as the main striker after the first season and did his job tremendously. 56 goals in 52 appearances (34 goals in 33 Premier League appearances) with an average rating of 7.73. UEFA Player of the Year. PFA Player of the Year. Football Writers Footballer of the Year. European Golden Shoe runner-up. Premier League Golden Boot runner-up. Fans' favorite after only 1 season. Can not speak highly of him! 💯 (see his profile after the first season)
    • Moises Caicedo (73M->89M) & Eduardo Camavinga (73M->87M): Completed my midfielder trio with our own golden boy Harvey Elliot. World-class players in a couple of seasons.
    • Antonio Silva (75M->84M): Provided great partnership with Van Dijk. Wonderkid.
    • Rodrygo (43.5M->60M): Replaced aging Mohamed Salah. A bargain for 43.5M (60M). 13 goals & 8 assists in 43 appearances. 6 goals & 2 assists in 13 CL appearances. Not bad for a 22-year-old. World-class potential.
    • Datro Fofana (on loan): Signed on loan for the first two seasons. A very high loan fee is required considering his potential as well as his current contribution to Chelsea. Was really good, especially for the second season. 8 goals and 9 assists in 29 appearances. Unfortunately, Chelsea did not sell him even for a total of 243M. According to his agent, the rivalry between Chelsea & Liverpool had an impact on this situation. Really hoped to extend his journey with me but unfortunately, Chelsea neither sells nor loans him anymore.
    • Malo Gusto (40M->55M): Rotation for Trend. Did his job well.
    • Xavi Simons (56M->76M): Rotation for the midfielder trio and surprisingly did an amazing job. 5 goals & 7 assists in 30 appearances with an average rating of 7.29. Named in the UEFA Champions League Dream Team.
    • Luca Netz (55M->60M): Rotation for Robertson.
    • Paul Wanner (Free): Signed for free in the last 6 months of his contract with Bayern Munich. Wonderkid. Hope he meets the expectations. But, if not, no problem. Would provide profit as a free transfer which is expected by the board.
    • Andreas Schjelderup (62M->86M): Could not meet my high expectation so far but not bad too: 7 goals & 2 assists in 23 PL appearances. Wonderkid.
    • Mohamed-Ali Cho (39.5M->45M): Backup for Isak. High potential. 41 goals in 40 U21s appearances.
    • Wilfried Gnonto (54M->70M): Rotation for wings and forward. High potential. Wonderkid.

    High potential youngsters:

    • Curtis Jones: Cover for my midfielders and wingers. Did his job whenever necessary. Never made an issue for not regularly playing. Great guy.
    • Joe Gomez: Cover for my center backs and even for full-backs. Similar to Curtis Jones, did his job whenever necessary. Never made an issue for not regularly playing. Great guy.
    • Stefan Bajcetic, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay were all loaned to gain first-team experience.

Hopes this post gives hints to its readers regarding potential signings. Cheers.

How much did you make in sales to cover all those purchases?

    Season 3 review

Looked for a long time that we wouldnt win the league. city were setting the pace for the second half of the season and when we lost to chelsea in our 3rd last league game it looked like we were done but city finished the season with 2 draws and a loss to allow us to pip them on the last day by 1 point.

Finally had Darwin finish as PL top scorer with 32 goals.

we went on to beat City in the Fa cup final on Penos and then for the big one, CL final. after going out on the quarters last season we had to reach the final to keep a few players happy. we went into the final against City on a high from the FA cup win and it showed as we scored 3 first half goals. despite a city goal early  in the second half we held on for a 3-1 win to cap a great season

Why do you need a new GK?

Isn't Ali still only about 30-31? Surely he has at least 4 more seasons at the top. Kelleher should be a more than reliable backup. Giving you time to find, train and promote a newgen

I've already sold Kellher. Got like an offer of 50 mil so I couldn't say no. I'm definitely not getting rid of Ali. maybe ill just stick with a newgen as my backup

    Transfer Window

outs - Gini (Free), Naby, OX, Shaq, Matip, Origi, Tsimikas, Taki, Wilson, Ojo, Adrian, Firmino which has left me with just over 400m to spend

Ins - Garcia (Free), Haaland, Sancho, Musiala, Camavinga, Moriba, Tonali, Tymon, Hoever, Woodman, Balde, Ahkomach, Christensen.

massive overhaul but some great deals in there, christensen was listed by chelsea and only cost 20m, Camavinga was 42m with half of that spread over 3 years as Rennes were relegated, Moriba listed for 40m as he refused a new deal with barca (but had to send him on loan as part of the transfer)

How did you make 400m out of those?

Oh god. Don't start me in injuries. My squad is almost as bad as in real life, and I'm not even out of pre season yet!

My aim is to buy very little in the first season, sell the deadwood and build before the second season.

On a side note (and not directly related to FM21 at least), with Billy Beane and his buddies around 6wks away from owning 10% of Liverpool, do you think we will have a bit of a decent budget going into the 21/22 season?

I can't see Liverpool having a budget at all. Simply sell to buy. Liverpool is value at around $7 billion. They are buying 10% so I can't imagine their $750 million making any real difference.

Ok, so I've already managed to get rid of quite a few players:

    - Minamino, as previously stated, went to OL for £29m.

    - Oxlade-Chamberlain has gone to Chelsea for £57m.

    - Wijnaldum went to Juventus (or Zebre, if you want) for £44m + £5.5m after 50 games.

    - Origi went to Tottenham for £33m + £33m over 36 months, or a total of £66m.

Considering how injury prone Ox is, Gini being 30 and Origi pretty much being a useful rotation option, I'm quite happy with this. Minamino is just not good enough to begin with, so I'll happily let Harvey Elliott take his place to see if I can get some development out of him. I'm still looking to ship out Shaqiri and probably Matip. Thiago is injured for a couple of months (shocker), so he'll probably stay another 6 or 12 months unless I can move him on towards the end of the transfer window. I want to sell him due to his age and injury proneness, and ideally bring in Camavinga as a replacement. Due to his injury, his bravery is now down to 5 so I certainly don't want to use him in a defensive-minded role anymore.

Anyway, I've gotten a few in as well. I've now officially signed the Norwegian wonder-duo as Martin Ødegaard joins me in a deal for £75m + £25m over 36 months, totaling £100m. He'll mostly play as my attacking option at CM, but he'll probably get quite a few game as an IW(s) on that right side as well.

My first XI as of right now, with my second XI on the right side:

I'm still in the middle of june, so there's likely to be a few more changes before the season starts - but so far I'm pretty happy with the squad.

Did clubs just come in for your players? or you list them?

  10. 2 hours ago, EnigMattic1 said:

Although, I'm not actually that far in. I spend way too much time sorting the backroom staff out and playing about with spreadsheets to analyse the players I have.

There's nothing wrong with that. Have a look at a lot of the guys streaming FM20 on twitch. They all spend ages on backroom stuffs :D
