Season 1 Review
Premier League
Well what a nail biter. Found myself 5 points clear of City with 4 games remaining. City, Chelsea, Spurs & an in form West Ham. A home win against City would almost certainly wrap it up but despite dominating we ended up losing to 2 late goals meaning title race back on. Next game Chelsea away and nerves are creeping in beforehand. But not to worry Chelsea are taken for 3 1st half goals to give us a comfortable lead. 2nd half a complete change as Chelsea strike twice to make it a nervy last 10 minutes but we hang on. The day gets even better as our next opponents Spurs beat City to help us regain our 5 point advantage. We then face Spurs away. This is Spurs they'll sure roll over. Well it turned out to be the most boring nil all draw imaginable. Not one single highlight for the game. City win their game meaning we hold a 3 point advantage but an inferior goal difference going to the final day against West Ham. Spirits are high going into this one as the hammers are only playing to deny us the title and all we need is a point. 8 minutes in we self implode!! Casemiro gets a straight red for a stupid challenge. On the stroke of half time West Ham strike but as it stands City are drawing with Brighton so we stay top......but not for long. City score early in the 2nd half. Around the hour mark changes are made on comes Martial for a weary Hoijlund and on 68 minutes the much maligned forward finishes clinically to level up the game. Queue every defensive tactic being instilled into our formation as we cling onto the draw to gain a 21st league title
FA Cup Final
After a strong showing in the FA Cup we play Liverpool in the final and oh what a game. The early stages we are completely dominant but can score then boom Liverpool sucker punch us to go 1 up 15 mins before halftime. In a very open game it takes us til the 70th minute to equalise through Sancho but less then 10 mins later Salah strikes to put them in control. That lead lasted only 5 minutes as Inacio heads home from a corner to level once again in this thriller. Would that be the end of it. NO!! 2 mins later Gakpo scores on the 86th minute to surely deliver the cup to Liverpool. But as this game was crazy enough straight from kick off our final day hero in the league Martial pops up in the right place at the right time to take the game to extra time. 3 times Liverpool led and had been pegged back so could they go again? Twice they score before half time but twice they are ruled out for offside. Their heads drop after the 2nd disallowed goal and in sneaks Garnacho to double down on their misery. That man Martial finishes off the tie just after halftime and we have secured a double with a treble possibly on the way.....
Champions League Final
After a gargantuan tussle with PSG in the semi finals we face Barcelona at Wembley to try and complete a 2nd treble in the clubs history. Going in as favourites and full of confidence Captain Fantastic Bruno opens the scoring after 8 mins. Again we dominate for most of the half but a slip in concentration allows Barca in to level. Not to worry we're playin well and creating chances so its no surprise when Rashford nods home just after the hour mark to give us a 2-1 lead. Again concentration comes into play and De Jong gets on the end of a cross to level matters once again. And once again a red card comes to haunt us as on the stroke of full time Shaw gets sent off to leave us a man down for all of extra time. We navigate extra time by going defensive looking to hit on the counter and that tactic see the game finish rather drably and onto penalties. Eriksen steps up to take our 1st and blazes over meanwhile Barca and ourselves after dispatch the next couple. Then up steps Onana who when needed pulls out a sensational save giving us a chance to level up through Casemiro who repays his sending off in the last league game. 5th penalty for Barca and Onana can't repeat his earlier heroics and its up to Reguilon to bring the penalties to sudden death and of course............................he blazes over shattering our treble dreams
All in all a great season despite the loss to Barca. Struggling with discipline with a lot of yellow cards and red cards throughout the season. That needs working going into next year. Scored plenty of goals this year with all of our attackers scoring in or around 19 goals but all have been a little inconsistent. Much work to do for next season as some young guns coming back from loan will be replacing some senior players I'm looking to ship on plus one or two signings to hopefully challenge for honours again

Halfway point season 1 and i'm top of the table by 5 points but City have 2 games in hand. Just finished January and outgoings have been Varane for €124m inc add ons to Saudi, McTominay on loan to PSG with a mandatory fee of €40m & Lindelof to Newcastle for €40m inc add ons. Malacia gone on lone too with a mandatory fee of €20m to PSG. Incomings and trying to stick to only spending 50% of what i recieve in transfer fees sees Inacio come in as Varane's replacement for his release clause of €45m, Mukiele as Lindelofs replacement for €12.75m inc add ons and Barco who has stayed on loan til summer as part of the deal/ Mainoo, Gore & Hansen-Aroens go on loan but will come back next season as 1st team players as i look to develop from within. Diallo and Pellestri also gone on loan but might look to sell them in the summer

Started new save last night now the full version is out. Transfer window disabled. I probably won't be as cavalier with the spending that i had done in the Beta. I'm introducing a little rule to only be allowed spend 50% of whatever transfer fee i get for selling a player on purchasing a new player. So say if i get €100m for Varane to a Saudi club the max I'm allowed to spend on his replacement is €50m which isnt too bad until you get to the likes of Martial, Eriksen etc who would only fetch fees between €20 to €30m at most . Aim is to try & develop youth 1st from our setup before looking at signings. I went a bit overboard on the beta spending willy nilly and it took the joy and difficulty element out of that save.

Summer transfers in;
Archie Gray (Leeds) - €25m - young 5* potential to develop
Tomori (Milan) - €20m - 3rd choice CB
Ashley Phillips (Spurs) - €36.5m - 4th choice CB to develop into starter in a couple of seasons
Evan Ferguson - €54m - Brighton were relegated so got him way cheaper than he would have been - will fight it out with Hoijlund for starting CF
Ugarte - (PSG) - €184m - Signed as Casemiro replacement using DOF so i may have overspent
Transfers Out
Eriksen (Leicester) €13.5m rising to €17m in installments
Martial (Fenerbache) - €17,5m rising to €20.5m in installments
Van de Beek {Sociedad) - €19m
Casemiro (Al Hilal) - €93m
Maguire (Spurs) - €25m
Trying to sell Antony but nobody willing to pay his fee & wages. Bayern offered €4.9m for him and were swiftly told where to go. Looking to develop youth this season after winning the league last season hoping . Spent way more on Ugarte then i wanted but DM's are hard come by and expensive and i wanted someone world class to replace Casemiro whilst Mainoo develops.

Won the league with 3 games remaining, currently on 97 points and 97 goals with one match left away to Brentford. Lost 2 games all season in the league both at home to Bournemouth & Crystal Palace in the last 10 games denying me a shot at an invincible season. Crashed out of the FA cup to Liverpool in the 3rd round and Arsenal in the QF of the league cup. Also lost to Bayern in the QF of the champions league losing the 1st leg at home 3-0 before winning the return leg 2-1. Sold Varane in January for €75m rising to €97m, Lindelof to Newcastle for €30m, McTominay & Malacia both went on loan with option to buy to Brighton & Newcastle respectively. Incomings were Inacio for €45m and Badashille on loan for cover. I've a LB Barco incoming for €9m. As for summer transfers i'll be looking at moving on Casemiro, Maguire, Eriksen, Van de Beek. & Antony. Looking towards developing youh in my 2nd season with Diallo, Gore & Mainoo coming back from loan and hoping to sign a top quality DM to replace Casemiro, Ashley Phillips for 4th choice CB & 2 strikers to replace Martial and add depth.

I sold Varane in January for an initial €75m rising to €97m with installments it was too good to turn down especially after talking to him and he was insisting on leaving. Newcastle also bought Lindelof for €30m so i brought in Inacio for his €45m release clause & Badashille on loan from Chelsea as cover

Anyone else having difficulty getting rid of players? Had Rojo transfer listed and hoping to get around €12 - 15m for him but only offer I get is around €3m from Saudi Arabian clubs. Only able to loan out other deadwood like Mata, Jones & Matic due to their high wages I imagine.

Got 4 penalties in a Europa League game against St Etienne, Andreas Pereira scored all 4 in the same corner

Started my save last night with transfers turned off and McTominay ends up tearing his cruciate during the 1st international break and is out for the season Had to promote Garner from the U23's for cover for Matic but will need to bring in a ball winning midfielder in January to bolster the position. looking at Tousart from Lyon looks very good and I can get him for around €12m so cheap too. Other than that I've had a great start 5 wins from 6 with the loss coming away to Man City where my over confidence of my main tactic came back to bite me after winning the 1st 5 games comprehensively.

1 hour ago, Marc Lister said:
Same. I have a 4-2-3-1 tactic running, like I did in FM19. I am drawing a lot of games that I score first in simply because whilst we score, we don't follow it up with a second goal and end up drawing. I then have a go at the team but they get annoyed with me. I did beat Liverpool 2-1 at home by going into defensive mode. Now that we've had a few ME changes I might start a new game and start again and not make the mistakes I made in the beta.
I tried replicating the same tactics from FM19 that worked a charm with my strikers using Rashford as a poacher and he scored 30 odd goals every season though doesn't seem to yielding any success this year, well in the Beta anyway. I may have to rethink my roles to get the strikers scoring. Looking forward to getting stuck into it

Starting a save with United this evening after experimenting different tactics during the Beta. Settling on a 4-2-3-1 Control Possession but can't seem to get strikers scoring during the Beta. Anyone have any joy or advice? Going starting the full game save this evening with transfers turned off 1st season. Let me see can I get them to sing a tune for me

Come on you boys in green I'm guessing Evan Ferguson had a lot to do with winning that world cup
