I've been tinkering with a fantasy database for Indonesia in the past few months and I've managed to expand the second, third, and fourth divisions from 24 teams to 30 teams without a hitch. But when I tested the file that I've edited, I realized that a 30-team double round-robin league would be too unrealistic as practically the top 10 teams had 100 or more points to their name at the end of the season.
With this in mind I'm thinking of expanding the leagues further from 30 to 32 teams, but I'm going to split the league into two subdivisions each containing 16 teams. The bottom four teams of each subdivision will be relegated, while for the third and fourth divisions the top four teams from each subdivision will be promoted, while for the second division only three teams will be promoted (the winners, runners-up, and third-placed team).
To decide the winners, runners-up, and third-placed teams, I'm thinking of having the champions of each subdivision go up against each other in a two-legged tie for the championship title, while third-place will be contested by the runners-up of each subdivision, also in a two-legged tie.
Problem is I'm a complete noob in creating subdivisions and all and I've searched through google for a tutorial but it ended up making me even more confused. I didn't want to break my file so I'm a little bit worried that I might end up messing things up if I decided to go in blind and confused. So I'm posting this to ask for any assistance in regards of creating subdivisions from an already existing league (not from scratch as most tutorials that I saw have subdivisions created alongside new leagues, I'm currently editing an existing league to add subdivisions to).
