I'd say get the Pro. I own the M1 and it's running more than fine. Pro is better value, as you can get 16 GB as well.

What level of graphics do you play at, and do you play 3D match engine? What is the spec of your machine?

I got an M2 macbook air a couple of weeks ago and sold my M1. I've noticed a big difference heat wise. My M2 barely heats at all, where as the M1 used to heat quite considerably. I have upgraded the RAM (8 to 16GB) and storage (256 to 512gb) on the new laptop though.

Runs very fast and smoothly. I tend to play with 6 nations active and 13/14 divisions.

    Hi,

my current gaming laptop just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore, it’s alright for the first 5 to 6 years into an FM save but then it starts running extremely slow, so I’m in the market for a laptop that will run FM well for the next 2 to 3 years with multiple leagues. I’ve found one I like but I don’t want to buy it if within 2 years I will run into the same problems that I’m having now with regards to saves becoming incredibly slow 5 years into a save.

Will this meet my aims? I appreciate the GPU is a bit overkill for FM, just wondering if the CPU will cut the mustard for FM long term.

What is the spec for your current laptop?

The one you have shortlisted is an absolute beast, you shouldn't have any problem with FM series for 4-5 years from now at least.

  4. Hi,

I am planning to switch back to MacBook after trying windows for 2.5 years with my HP Envy 15.

Can people using M2 MacBook Air, share their experiences, if they are facing heating issues, especially while playing FM23?  Or any other issues?

Would it be better if I instead get an M2 MacBook Pro 14 as it has fans to cool down the temperature? Or are there any other issues while playing FM23?

Ok, that there shows that they have two different versions of the M2 chip.

    image.thumb.png.ed918bf9724af50d2fab064a2996df15.png

That benchmarking shows the M2 Pro does score a lot higher in multi-core tasking, so you'd likely see better processing speeds from the Pro.  As far as I know, graphics wise they're equal.  In terms of heat, the MacBook Air has been known to get warm under load, but nothing which should cause any issue.

It is worth mentioning that you could get equivalent performance for less money from a Windows based laptop when it comes to what you get with the MacBook Pro, so if you're not dead set on Apple that may be something to consider.

I was using a MacBook Pro for 7yrs then switched to window 2.5 yrs go but want to switched back as the biggest annoyance is the battery duration with my HP Envy 15 and the lack of stability with windows. I know Apple products keep getting more expensive but they tend to last a lot longer and MacOS is a lot more stable.

The heating up issues does bother me therefore M2 Air or Pro real life experience is what I really want know about from current users.

If both have the same version of the M2 chip, they should in theory handle the game the same as each other.

    • Apple M2 chip with 8‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine for MacBook Air
    • Apple M2 Pro with 12‑core CPU, 19‑core GPU and 16‑core Neural Engine for MacBook Pro 14

My concerns are matters like heating up due to the lack of a fan in the Air and graphics.

You are new to FM, right?

Well, it's a tool that someone can extract things from the game. Like the skin, where people with skills can provide a different skin for someone else.

Note new to FM, I have all versions from the old days of Championship Manager Series.

Its just I have never used it that's why wanted to know what the Resource Archiver tool was meant for.

    • Storage: 128gb
    • Memory; 8GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory
    • Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640

    Min. Specs on Mac

    OS
    10.13.6, 10.14.6, 10.15.5, 11.5

    CPU
    Intel Core 2 Duo 64-bit 1.8GHz+

    RAM

So, you should be ok, but seems like your system is few year old. The battery could have had many charging cycles by now therefore it may not be in very healthy state.

Hi guys Im just looking for any ones experience of playing fm22 on a MacBook. I usually play the FM touch on my iPad but now they aren't bringing out that edition so I'm thinking of playing on my MacBook, rather than the mobile edition.

When I have previously used fm on my MacBook Pro I have found that the battery drains very quickly. Often going from 100% to nothing in around half an hour. Also I find that the fans start working overtime and it starts heating up sometimes turning itself off to avoid overheating.

How are people finding it this year? and is there anything I can change in my settings to avoid these issues? Thanks

What are your MacBook Pro specs? This will dictate if your system can handle FM22

Increasing from 16GB to anything above that will not see any benefit for FM.

Increasing the RAM speed may see some benefit, but there's no guarantee (and to be honest I assume any difference between 2933 to 3200MHz would be negligible).  You would also need to ensure your motherboard and CPU support the faster RAM speed, otherwise you'd be wasting your money.

Cool will keep that in mind.

Less then 16 hour to go for the full games to release 😀🥳💻👨🏻‍💻

appreciate the help, but just wondering how much faster would this be do you reckon? worth to be double the price? as reading from the first post on this thread, apparently SSD only really affects load and save time, 4K im not too fussed on tbh. not a clue about the i7 1075H? the 16gb RAM is same?

Listen you said you could raise your budget up 1.5K thats why I suggested it. Otherwise there is a cheaper HP Envy 15-ep0011na model with FHD Display, 16GB RAM, 1660Ti Graphics and 512 GB SSD and its at 1499.99 and you can get it for 1350 with the E-voucher i suggested earlier.

Added bonus you can upgrade the storage in future as there is a second SSD slot and RAM is upgradable to 64GB if you ever need it :)

As for 16GB RAM is always better than 8GB any-day and SSD is the way forward for storage devices.

Note: 3 years HP Care Pickup and Drop bundle is only possible if you call them.

No harm in getting a great deal and I wanted to share it with the community here.

If you're happy to wait  a couple of weeks for delivery, this would be what I'd recommend: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/initia-15/8PpH0W74!v/

It's a better price than the equivalent at the likes of Currys, and you won't get all the manufacturer bloatware.

If you want something more immediately: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-15-cw1598sa-15-6-amd-ryzen-7-laptop-512-gb-ssd-silver-10193332-pdt.html

I suggest you look at the HP Envy 15-ep0008na  https://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=2T953EA&opt=ABU&sel=NTB

    i7 1075H

    16GB RAM

    1TB SSD

    4K DISPLAY

Listed for 1799.99 but you can get it for 1620 with 3 year HP Care Pack with Pickup and Return. Use this E-voucher: VIPENVY

Just call HP UK Sales on 020-7660-3859

Will have some results in the next few hours. Let me know what you would like me to test.

    Pls let us know:

How many leagues does it let you run with large database with min 4* rating?

General game play processing, Does it feel you can enjoy FM21 without waiting too long for processing?

How many stars with the highest possible 3D graphics?

If you have Macbook Pro 13 then how long does it take the fans to kick-in when you start playing FM21?

Does the laptop heat up while you play FM21 for a while?

Thanks in advance for helping out mate!

Yeah, there's a lot of smaller things in FM that many don't know of.

Seriously, even I didn't know that was possible and I have been playing since 1993, when it was called Championship Manager from Domark. Football Manager 2021 will be my 28th year Edition :)

Can you pls share some of the not so popular little features like the one shared above?
