I'm so frustrated with people management in this game.
I'm in Turkish SL and I just can't hold onto my good players. We're in UCL every year (one quarter final so far), won Europa League one time but I can't further my progress because all of my best players want to leave if they receive an offer from a club (top-half) in EPL.
They don't care if I reject an offer from Barcelona or Juventus but they literally go batshit crazy when Aston Villa or Newcastle or Arsenal make an offer (and they always do!). Even if they're not in UCL or don't offer the same amount of play time as I do, they want to go regardless (wages are about the same).
Year after year, I'm working to find suitable replacements during summer transfer window and rebuild the squad instead of building around my best players and strenghten the squad progressively every year.
If somehow I manage to find a wonderkid before the big clubs, his agent demand a ridiculous release clause to be included in the contract. So I lose them very cheaply next year when he's starting to realise his potential. Although, even if there's no release clause, the guy just wants to leave around the same fee anyway.
If I choose to reject the offer in spite of his demands to leave, suddenly every other player in the squad is unhappy because they think I'm being unfair to the guy.
So, to enjoy this game, you either need to manage a team in the lower leagues or a team at the absolute top like Man City or Liverpool. Anything in between is unplayable and frustrating.
