I don't have evidence either way, but my opinion is the ME is exactly the same. Perhaps users are scrutinising passages of play in more depth due to the update, and simply noticing things that were already there but had become numb to.

There are no longer any stupidly wayward shots

My forwards are no longer (well not always) just mindlessly smashing it straight at the keeper.

I haven't seen a single stupid corner given away since the update.

I havent seen a player pass the ball when there is an obvious chance of scoring. Before the update my forwards would regularly do their upmost to avoid scoring.

I haven't seen any goalkeepers have an uncontrollable body spasm just before the opposition shoots yet, although that one was quite rare.

Penalty taking seems better. Even one under huge pressure. That might just be luck though.

On the whole it feels far more balanced. It's not perfect, but I am happy enough with it now to enjoy playing.

  2. - Use your wingers to mark the RB and LB.

    - Always close down, tight mark and tackle hard the AMC. Also close down and tackle hard any playmaking MCL or MCR. If they are playing with a DM instead of an AMC then use your AMC to mark him.

    - Make sure your LB and RB have high pace and acceleration. Ideally your CB's too if you have a high defensive line.

    - I miss the times of good dribblers who can really make an impact. You know, a guy who can dribble few guys and make crazy assist or something. Last time I saw that in fm15 I guess.

I play Rodrygo as an Inside Forward in an attacking, fluid 4-2-3-1 and he has cuts inside with ball and places shots as a trait. He regularly tears defences apart with his dribbling. Fantastic player.

  4. Overall I am enjoying the game, but there are a few niggling bits.

1: Match day sound is just woeful. Really poor quality stuff from SI.

2: I don't know if I have just never noticed it before, but players seem to be constantly offside.

3: Players kicking it out for a corner when under pressure seems to happen rather too regularly.

4: The prematch meeting seems to be a bit pointless. I just get RSI doing the same thing each time.

But overall I like this edition so far (after 1 season as Ipswich in which I won the Championship).

  5. Thoughts so far

1: Really like the new Scouting setup although selecting the positions requires patience.

2: Time progression bar when you continue seems a bit jittery to me.

3: From an initial look, Dynamics could be really good.

4: Match Plans ! That looks very interesting. Perhaps the AI utilizes these? Could make it a more difficult opponent

5: Medical centre is well presented.

6: Training seems to be exactly the same this year.

  6. There are some exciting prospects - I'm intrigued by the 'AI Overhaul'. Hopefully that means the AI will be better at constructing squads and backroom and not just on the pitch. The new stadium work is interesting - will we finally have stadiums that mimic  real world club stadiums? New player roles and tactical options sound good too. Looking forward to more details.........

I'm having trouble getting my lone striker to score goals..his rating is also really low most of the time..so I was trying to change roles but haven't found one, which gets him scoring

    any suggestions?

I use mine as a CF(A) and I rotate the position between 3 players (2 established and one young). If one slacks off then I tell them to improve and give them a bit of time in the reserves. All my CF's have good work rate, teamwork, first touch, determination, pace, finishing, composure, decisions, heading and are competent at passing.

Hi guys, what should I do when opponent seem like playing a very tight marking & intensive closing down game? My players were never able to receive the ball in comfortable situation, and many times get intercepted before he even receive the ball. Strangely, I still able to get 71% pass completion. I play 4231, with no Playmaker, Left IF and Right Winger, Standard & Flexible, only TI is Pass Shorter.

You could try a number of things

1: Remove the Pass it Shorter TI to get the ball up to your forward players

    2: Try Counter Attacking

    3: Go more fluid

4: Adopt a formation that overloads the midfield.

I have trouble with my DLP(d) not getting a consistent good average rating..sometimes he isn't the playmaker of the team I want him to be..

I like the defensive solitude that he brings but I want him more dominant on the ball, giving more passes and being more on the ball, now it's more my 2 CM(s) that do that work..

    Any suggestions to achieve this?

Mine usually floats around 6.9. He's not the goalscorer in the team but he does his bit.

Can you share the TI? What are the players that you put risky passes?

I'm at work so I can't upload anything, but I'll try to remember.

Normal Tempo, Low Crosses, Play out of Defence, Close Down Less, Offside Trap, Be more disciplined, Narrow width (I used to play wide, but am experimenting), Work Ball into area, Mixed Passing, Standard

For me the back 3 + DPL are all about keeping position so yes I close down a lot less as a TI to aid that. The back 3 need to be fast and have good work rate, concentration and heading\jumping. They also need to be not aggressive so that they will maintain position.

The offside trap seems to be effective unless they have a good, fast forward in which case I switch it off.

I play 'Be more disciplined' as a TI, but my DLP and CM(s) have PI's for risky passes. Those players need good passing and vision. The two CM(S) I have a Get Further Forward PI, Move into channels and Long Shots.

I have stuck with Wingers and I find Very Fluid + Close Down Much More PI and Tight Marking is good enough for them to track back, but I have wingers with high work rate, determination and teamwork and I suspect that helps.

Thanks for your respond mate.As you said I always take consider the level of facilities of the club that loan my player and squad status of the player for the regular first team player.Despite all, sometimes they train my promising or wonderkid player in a poisiton that is not his position. As you know training a player in a new position that he is not accomplished results attributes to drop.

Yes it can be annoying which is why I always consider a recall in January. Having said that if a player is being played out of position, it can still be beneficial.

Some clubs that we send our promising players on loan to gain match experience and develop themselves rarely train them on their natural position in training.I mean even though those clubs have better training facilities and the player I send on loan is Wonderkid, after a while his attributes start decreasing. When the player come back to the club I realise that he is being forced to train on a position that he is irrelevant.I hate this, do u guys know any solution for this ? Is it better to keep him at the club instead of sending him on loan to gain match experience ?

Personally I keep all my players until they reach 18 at which point I promote them to U23 if they are good enough or show them the door if they aren't. If they are playing regularly at U18 level and you have good coaches and facilities then that is the best place for them as you control their development.

At 18 if they are not good enough to play in my first team occasionally (10+ games) then I keep them for preseason and then loan them out for the first half of the season. The choice of club is important - they must have good facilities and he must be a regular first team starter and the league must be a challenge for the players level. I then recall them in January and train them for the final 6 months unless they are benefiting hugely from the loan. I repeat this until they are either good enough to be a regular starter or they reach 21 and I sell them.
