  1. I had real trouble with a 4-3-3 with standard full/wing backs because the DM would struggle to find a pass into the CMs and get swarmed, I had to put in IWB in to give him another option in deep midfield. Have switched to a 4-2-3-1 to see if that works any better but to be honest I'm not very happy about it

  2. Appreciate this is probably dealt with on here somewhere but it's a fifty page thread so just a quick question:-

Any timeline for anything to fix the absurd team morale stuff? I've just had a complete dressing room meltdown over not letting a lad go on loan who had not yet asked me if he could go on loan (he is also unhappy he is not on loan, this has never come up before). It's all pretty silly.

  3. I haven't posted in here in a long time but thought this 4-2-3-1 looked very similar in the planning than the tactic I've been using on a very successful West Ham save so thought I could just pop that in here for reference. Only player instructions are that the Fbs and wingers have "cross aim centre" and the Volante has shoot less. It's worked very well for me for a number of seasons.

  4. Same as it ever was isn't it? Game isn't brilliant, all the new stuff is a waste of time, all the bad and boring stuff is still bad and boring, it's still great when you score a late winner or find a young player or win against the odds and I'll still play it for hundreds of hours while not really being sure if it's actually any good at any point.

And then I'll do it all again next year.

  5. Real talk, cos I've been a bit facetious on here in my previous posts, but I am very disappointed thus far with the new feature reveals. Personally I can do without press conference or the "gesture" system which looks to just be reskinning the "tones" we can use anyway. I skip press conferences (boring, repetitive) and team talks are ok I guess. A lot of other stuff I find boring can be automated and if you're into it and I'm not that's fine, that's why we let the staff do it. Anyway, things I would actually like looked at:-

    1. International management is bad and has been for ages. I would like it to be better. I will not expand on this, anyone who thinks it is good now is a clown.

    2. Why can't goalkeepers foul people, it's been like 10 years, they can't commit fouls, concede penalties or get fouled on corners. People do see keepers get sent off from time to time, but that is only ever for handball outside the box. This is, frankly, an absurdity for the main football management title on the market.

    3. There must be a step toward the inclusion of women's football. The profile of the game is increasing all the time, now is the time to be part of that. Even if it's a slow start, international teams and tournaments say (although see point 1) or even if it's just the WSL to begin with or what have you. I know this will get a barrage of excuses as to why this shouldn't happen but believe me I don't care about any of them, be a part of raising the profile of the game, rather than waiting for it to rise to you.

    4. Tactics that reflect real life tactics. Wilder's overlapping centre backs, pressing zones, pressing triggers, a more intuitive way to create the changes in with/without ball shape (a la Arsenal for example this year) and no I don't mean the old CM3 tactics board things, they are also bad.

Not picking this up this year because I'm a bit underwhelmed and also money is tight what with COVID etc, but this will be the third time since 1992 I haven't picked this game up, but the 2nd time in 4 years. Make of that what you will.

  6. Ok look, this is all well and good, all these arguments and debates about graphics and tech specs are valid and interesting

But the people want to know:-

Can goalkeepers commit fouls yet? Can they be fouled, say on a corner? Do they *exist physically* in reference to other players in the ME?

It's been like a whole decade, and people will say "well how often do keepers actually foul players?" and the answer is "more than never", come on now.

I'm around 6% below my expected rate of injuries so far. I've not seen anything to suggest they're any worse than last year. I wonder if the main complainers have come straight from FM17. Last year's game brought an increase in the 'in-match'knocks you players get to make it more realistic.

And before anyone retorts with 'But SI have admitted there's an issue' - they haven't, they're simply investigating to see if there is one. And there might well be, but from my experience so far, it's no better or worse than it usually is. You see these types of complaints every single year when the game first comes out.

Agree with this, I'm seeing a lot of light injuries in games that result in anywhere between 1-5 days out with an orange injury, normally could be rushed into the next game if you needed them or benched but that's very much the individual manager's call. I'm not seeing a lot of long injuries (so far).

Enjoying things otherwise, agree with the comments about crosses seeming overpowered but I am playing as LFC and it is pretty easy to create space for Robertson and Alexander-Arnold to cross and when they have such good crossing attributes it's always going to create chances. My big concern about goals would be the number of corners I'm scoring from, often from a knock down by a centre back and a second player smashing it in, seems a little bit too frequent.

  8. I've been using a 4-3-3-0 which I really used to try and play a bit like a Klopp Liverpool a few months ago, tactic is in this thread, it's a high tempo affair that scores goals from either an attacking IF, or thanks to arriving runs from an SS or CMa. I won everything (everything) with Liverpool in the first two seasons before in the third season I blew the Cups and then finished 2nd in the PL and runner up in the CL so it works fairly well. I don't know if it  would translate to a team without high quality players though as I'm one of those awful people who tends to only play as the big guns.
