  1. Haven't played as much FM the last 5-6 years as I used to, and only buying every other year. I had no plans to buy FM again until tactical part was improved. I accidently came upon a post here, about the new changes to player roles (horisontal and vertical movement) in FM24, which is the only reason I bought FM24 - and I'm LOVING it!

Being able to replicate many of the exciting new tactics (Pep, Zerbi, Ange, Alonso, michel etc) or even old classical ones, makes it way more fun. It still lacks a few roles, but it's a great start. Very hyped to see what other roles are introduced.

It's really enjoyable to watch the games with the upgraded visuals and the intelligent movement of the players. Good job, SI.

  2. At the moment we have 3 tactics we can train. I would personally like 4-5 tactics. It's really hard to work with the limited number of tactics if you want a defensive, an offensive and try different formations. Last but not least it's fun fiddling with new tactics.

he's not on professional terms by the sounds of it and so is free to negotiate with anyone offering one while he keeps fit at your club, only a full-time pro contract would require a transfer fee to end it. if you're at a very low level club you should be prepared to lose the player, unless you happened to have the funds to give him a pro contract. If so just offer him a new contract and make sure to select full-time.

ok thanks, I wasn't aware of that. I guess it means if I can get away with offering amateur contracts, there is no need to offer part-time contracts. I was hoping it would tie them down.

So I have a 17 year old player on a part time contract. Still have ~1.5 year to go. I thought a part time contract would be enough to hold him, but it seems clubs are able to sign the player for free. Is this a bug or how part time contracts are suppose to work?

    Anyone?

I should add they can sign on free with immediate effect, so they don't have to wait until contract runs out. I just want to know if it's something that should be added as bug.

  5. That is indeed a very disappointing display. The worst thing about the ME, is when it's not true to the instructions you give it. Be it players not positioned, where they should be, or moving as they are instructed. Sure some players have poor positioning, marking, off the ball etc, but in set pieces like this, where you tell them where to stand...   not good.

There are similar issues with strikers not coming deep? and defenders not pushing up? Or is that less of an issue?

  6. Feedback:

Two draws at home against opponents I should have beaten. I'll give it some more games, but there seems to be a problem with the shortpassing (weird as the tactic is almost identical to your old one, which didn't have this problem). From watching full games I often see my players pass the ball around without getting anywhere close to goal... that is the FBs, DCs, the DMC and sometimes the MCs pass it around at the back, and rarely seem to be able to find an opening. My guess is the strictness of the shortpassing makes it hard for them to do the more direct passes to the strikers. It could also be opponents with very tight marking that does it, but since I have played only 2 matches, I'll keep at it and see how it evolves.

  7. There is a link to an excel spreadsheet within the thread which summarises things quite nicely for those with a short attention span like me.

For anyone looking for a far more simple system, there was a thread on here by Zero Sea which strongly advocated using Have Faith on all your players both before the game and at half time, and I have to say having tried it that the results have been very impressive.

I have evolved that idea somewhat now and in tandem with Mr H's tactics have had plenty of success.

Basically now before a game I do this

Any complacency reported - I expect a win

Local Derby or Cup Match - For the fans

    Any other - Have Faith

    Then at half-time

    If winning - Have Faith

Drawing when said I expect a win - Disappointed

Losing in any game - Want to see more from you

Drawing when I said Have Faith - Have Faith

Drawing when I said For the Fans - For the Fans

    Thanks for this info.

Getting desperate for consistency I finally decided to give teamtalks a chance, and what a difference it makes (sadly). I have a feeling teamtalks are more important than making a good tactic atm, but that will take some testing. Seriously hope that will change in next version (slider to set importance of teamtalks before you start game :p).

Anyway, thanks for an easy "guide" to teamtalks. 5 wins and 1 draw (3 games against topteams).

  8. Your tactic seems to give consistency, which I have been unable to get with tons of different formations and tweaks. In the lower leagues you can get away with tactics that are "ok" because you can get better players compared to opposition, but in the EPL I have suffered.

Im playing 10.3 non-classic with your tactics and in 4 matches (2-1-1) i'm getting consistent good displays although leaking goals a bit. I found that you can pull down one striker to AM og CM if your team suffers in possession (opponents controlling midfield).

The main difference from your approach to most of my tactics is the fact that you set passing to 0 (short), which saddens me a bit (regarding the ME)- why can't mixed passing work more consistently? Poor decisions from players?
