  1. Hi @knap

You're amazing doing all these tactics.

Quick question. I am using fm21 but not sure it makes a difference for my question.

When you're a midtable team doing really well using a tactic, currently 5th in prem with Boreham Wood!, when you go away against a title leader (Liverpool in my save), how would you amend the tactic?

    Thanks

  2. I've noticed that when a club has maxed out its league's loan rules (e.g. in the premier league it seems to be two long-term loans per season) the game blocks a player from even negotiating a long-term loan with another club for one of their players.

Perhaps it could be that the block only kicks in at the signing stage as this will enable players to end their existing long-term loans if they are successful in their subsequent negotiations?

  3. I'm so angry! Haha.

I'm West Ham and trying to get Lingard to sign for me (he rejected a loan in Jan, and now even though his contract expires at the end of the season, I made him my top target and watched him in seven games lol.) Man Utd have accepted £5m up front and £5m after 50 apps, but he won't even entertain contract talks as he thinks West Ham's status isn't high enough to meet his expectations! (Prior to updating my game's data).

Well I'm fourth in the league now and man Utd are third, and I'm so determined to beat them. I've removed him as my top target as I have loads of wide men now and am turning my attention to Jefferson Lerma who will beef my midfield along with Deccie and Soucek. 🙏

I've been using pacy attacking mids in the SS roles. I have a pacy winger that I continually train in the position as well. He did well at times in the beginning, had a few sticky patches but slowly getting better and better in the position.

I'm trying to get my strikers to do well in those roles at the moment. I'm 6th with West Ham after 9 games, and I just thrashed Belgium 3-1 while managing England.

Just use forwards with pace in the SS Role. The PIs will be no different if they were in fwd roles..

The problem with holiday test with a normal squad is that the AM will use attacking mids.

I think I saw someone mention it before, any idea why Declan Rice seems to playing so **** for me in both the Vol(A) and DLP(Su) roles?

I'm using this with West Ham and I'm not liking the SS's, particularly not having any out and out forward. For instance, if I click 'pick a team' it ends up putting attacking midfielders like Lanzini in there instead of my out and out strikers who I've purchased :-)

I can see you tested this with Liverpool and I imagine it works well with Mane and Salah in those positions but for other teams, how would you adapt it? (Sorry if it's been asked before!)

    Thanks

With regard to testing, I am getting to grips with FMRTE but TBH the results are not consistent. I therefore do not trust the results using FMRTE and is made even worse when playing around with reputation.

Google docs should be up to date now.

    thanks, I understand.

Haven't been on here in a while, so sorry if it's been said. Where the Google Docs?

  7. I'm The FM20 manager of West Ham United, and in my second season I won the treble - premier league, FA Cup and Carling Cup.

As a West Ham fan, and as any West Ham fan in real life will tell you, our owners are really tight and do not invest in the club (albeit they claim they love the club). This seems to hold true on the game. Despite winning everything they are only giving me £56m-£70m to spend on players and I need a lot more than to bolster my team to make us Champions League ready.

Is there any way anyone knows to encourage a rich Saudi takeover?! :-D

  8. I won the treble (Prem, FA Cup and Carling Cup) with West Ham using Venom and Faith. Screenshots here https://steamcommunity.com/id/bestfootie/

Obviously my signings and great management skill was what helped achieve such a fantastic second season.

Thank you to @knap for all your help, time and dedication to this! I don't know what you get out of it - except pure joy :-)

  9. Wow.

Thanks to @knap who has been super helpful in helping me understand the table, let me share the following.

I'm West Ham and tried numerous formations. Couldn't win in 5 games, form nosedived.

Then, I understood that West Ham are defined as 'sub mid'. So first of all filtering the version to the correct one (I think this makes a difference), I then used the Google Sheets table @knap has been developing and I filtered it down that the best tactic might be to try Venom and Faith.

Here's my result just now against Villa with zero training on tactics as I didn't have time.

Thanks so much !!! I'm happy now! Made my evening! Let's hope West Ham can kick on (in real life too or Moyse can be replaced by me !) :-)

Because I test with top, the pts total in tactic name will give an idea of what is best for top club, Top Clubs should be able to use all of the tactics.

Top Club say 1-5 in League (Lpool MC etc)

    Sub Top 6-11 in League

    Underdog the rest

Can also use Top and Sub Top a Home Tactic Underdog Away or

Top Favourite Sub Top Evens Underdog if Underdog

I read what you quoted here and I understand now what 'top', 'sub top' and 'underdog' mean, but I'm still confused about how the table works... could you help?

  11. Hi Everyone and thank you Paul for the hard work you're putting in with the Google Sheets tactics list!

Just a quick question and apologies if answered before (maybe an idea to add it to the first post on page 1 alongside the link to the Sheets page) - could you explain what the headings refer to?

    Quote

ID    Name    Formation    Points (Top)    Overall    Pts    HighSub Top    Pts    Sub Mid    Pts    "Overall (exc. new tactics)

"    Sub Top (exc. new tactics)    Underdog (exc. new tactics)    Family    Notes    ver.    Mentality    Defensive Line

    Thanks!
