  1. Sorry to hear that isr25, really hope you get your game working again soon, take care
  2. Hi Kyle Brown, no worries, I only noticed I had the issue on Saturday and thought I'd do some checking Sunday evening via Google and found an article mentioning to delete the Football Manager 2020 folder contained within C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\ (it was the only site I found that mentioned this) so thought I'd give it a try but without deleting, just by moving instead so I could retain some of the views I had created. I'm back up and running and only missing the most recent change I made to the view which was not really crucial so really happy to have got it working again. Thanks for getting back to me Kyle, take care
  3. Hi b0reto - I run Windows 10 but presume Windows 8 will have equivalent paths (I've never used Windows 8) - why not try what I have outlined but apply to FM18 and see if it works for you as it worked for myself - good luck.
  4. Hi chadsterbrc, hope you are well. I was also getting an application error during start-up of the game since Saturday 27th June. I last successfully played the game on 23rd June. I have managed to fix my error and have outlined what I did with the hope it may resolve your issue also. My issue seems to have been to do with 1 or more xml files either being corrupted or holding data the game doesn’t like during loading. The files causing it (for me anyway) were in my ‘C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\Preferences\version 3’ folder. Create a folder on your C drive (can be anywhere, this was just convenient for me) called ‘FM crash’. Within your FM Crash folder create 2 folders – one called ‘Working’ and another called ‘Not Working’. Browse to your ‘C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\’ folder. MOVE the ‘Football Manager 2020’ folder to your ‘C:\FM crash\Not Working’ folder. (Move folder, don’t copy) Run Football Manager 2020 and the game should run ok (if it doesn’t work you may have a different issue than myself) but you’ll arrive at the initial preferences screens where you are must complete your player name / accept EULA / Targeted or non-targeted Advertising Boards and Age etc. Complete this and continue until you get to the main game screen where you would load your game / start a career game. At this stage the start-up screen will show a default avatar representation of your player. Quit out of Football Manager 2020 at this stage. Browse to your ‘C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\’ folder. This should have been repopulated with early game default files. COPY the ‘Football Manager 2020’ folder to your ‘C:\FM crash\Working’ folder. (Copy folder, don’t move). COPY every folder EXCEPT ‘Preferences’ from ‘C:\FM crash\Not Working\Football Manager 2020’ folder to your ‘C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020’ folder overwriting any files that already exist. Start Football Manager 2020 again and make sure the game loads without crashing. If the game loads OK then close the game down and you are ready to proceed to more or less the final stage. If the game doesn’t load ok at this stage you may have a different issue than myself. The final stage can be a trial and error stage. Browse to your ‘C:\FM crash\Not Working\Football Manager 2020\Preferences\version 3’ folder and sort the xml files by date modified so the most recently changed files appear at the top of your File Explorer session. On my game I last played on the 23rd/24th of June and when I loaded up the game on the 27th of June, I started getting the application error during start-up. I did make some changes to a couple of views that I had set up for my user defined squad selection screens and one or two others. I copied all my xml files from ‘C:\FM crash\Not Working\Football Manager 2020\Preferences\version 3’ folder EXCEPT the files changed on 23rd of June (my most recent changes) back into my ‘C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\Preferences\version 3’ folder overwriting any existing files. Start Football Manager 2020 again and make sure the game loads without crashing. If the game loads OK then close the game down. If the game doesn’t load then you may have to repeat the process but this time only copy XML files up to (but not including) your 2nd most recent date of change – this is what I meant by trial and error. Assuming the game is still successfully loading up for you then go back to your ‘C:\FM crash\Not Working\Football Manager 2020\Preferences\version 3’ folder and copy the Profile0.xml (and any other Profile xmls – they should be numbered sequentially i.e. Profile1.xml) back into ‘C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\Preferences\version 3’ folder overwriting any existing files. If the game successfully loads then forget your most recent changes and get back to playing or try re-creating the changes again in game yourself if you like – I chose not to do this. If the game doesn’t load up successfully, but did up to the previous point then you also have an issue with the Profile xml files (or one of them – perhaps trial and error with these files – I never had a problem with my profile files, I replaced them with my old ones and the game still loaded up for me. After completing the process outlined myself, I successfully loaded up the game, played a couple of game days, played a match then played another couple of game days, saved the game, quit the game and then started Football Manager again and everything seemed fine. Good luck – hope this work for you.

  6. I have managed to fix my error and have outlined what I did below as well as replying to the 5 users who may have had a similar issue to myself (serkanmce, yusufdinn, chadsterbrc, isr25 & Equilibrium21) with the hope it may resolve their issue also and anyone who may get this error in future. I never managed to tie the issue down to a particular xml as I had made a few changes to some of my user defined views (which have worked fine for me up till now) resulting in a number of changes to xml files in the folder/path specified below (version 3 folder). There were too many xml files updated to check one by one and I didn't have enough time. Just knowing the game was working again was enough for me. Sports Interactive - The 5 users listed above were the only users I could see on the first page of the crashes forum with potentially the same problem as myself. If the solution which worked for me works for them could you please make sure that anyone else on forum with potentially the same issue gets this message - Thanks. 10. I am running Windows 10 with 8GB RAM, fully updated, my Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics drivers are fully updated. I have not played football manager for a few days (it worked fine last weekend) but upon loading up today I get a crash dump error which I have attached below <FM 2020 v20.4.1.1363262 (2020.06.27 13.14.32).dmp> and loaded up to SiCloud. Here are the steps I took in order Ran the game, it crashed early on during loading Noticed there was an update available to my graphics driver so updated it (Nvidia), no more driver updates available after installation Checked for Windows updates - none available Verified the game files - came back ok Ran the game, crashed again during loading Rebooted my machine Ran the game, crashed again during loading Uninstalled the game Removed all the contents from my user folder (Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2021) Downloaded the game through steam and re-installed it (didn't copy back anything into user folder specified above to keep it clean) Ran the game, crashed again during loading - I've attached the latest Application Error message and crash dump created. FM 2020 v20.4.1.1363262 (2020.06.27 13.14.32).dmp
  11. Thank you so much @shakeable, that's sorted it - and this bugged me for at least 3 versions of FM. I can't believe I've played this game for so many years and didn't know that!
  12. Does anyone know how to get the original sort back on the player squad selection screen? Normally screen seems to default by some combination of player position (i.e. Goalkeepers at top, then defenders, then midfielders then attackers) and squad selection indicator, so if I don't select any players in my squad it's sorted by position as above. If I select players in my squad they go to the top and the players not in squad remain below, sorted in position. I accidentally left clicked when trying to insert columns and it changed the sort from the default sort to whichever of the column headings I have ticked. I can't seem to get it back. Going back to an earlier save game doesn't work - I had a game saved prior to this happening and when I loaded it in, I still had the same problem. It annoyed me enough I uninstalled Football Manager 2020 (had the same issue on FM2019, and versions before that), removed the FM files in the steamapps folder, removed the files in the Documents\Sports Interactive folder, removed what I could find in the registry then re-installed the game and still have the same problem. Can anyone please help me get the original sort back - it makes selecting a team and navigating my player options for each position a pain because it takes much longer. Thanks in advance.
  13. I have found since the update that when on the player search screen (filtered for 15/16 year old prospects for a certain position, in certain countries like France/Spain/Holland/Germany, with the 'Interested' tick box ticked) - that probably around 70%+ now enter negotiations with the same ludicrous demands shown by the OP. Now there's no problem with the fact the majority of these players are realistically unsignable at that age - that is realistic and how it should be as that part of the game in the past made it too easy to sign young prospects, but the fact that so many of these players ask for such a ridiculous wage - I could understand a few, but wouldn't most just not waste everyone's time and just inform you they are not interested in moving and would prefer to continue their development at their current club - as they used to in previous versions? I also find the fact that they even appear on the player search screen with the 'Interested' tick box ticked strange - I mean you yourself Hunt3r indicated from the OP screenshots that there's not a lot of interest in moving to the OP's club - so why show that player at all on the player search screen when the 'Interested' tick box is ticked when he's not really interested in joining your club? It just invalidates the search results of the player search screen and the 'interested' tick box filter - or is that the idea? I don't play the game to try and sign lots of young players anyway, I just tend to look at the start of each season (including the start of a new game) to see if I have a couple of positions where I'm low on quality in terms of my own young players coming through the ranks and compare to what's available via scout / analyst reports and my own observation of certain combinations of attributes based on which player position I am interested in.
  14. If you changed the Keita role from Inside Forward (support) to Winger (support) you should get more width and attacking variety. This tweak would still complement your choice of wingback roles, but your Attacking Midfielder / Striker roles may need tweaking. For example, with the Striker role, one thing to consider is that with the Inside Forward (attack) coming in from right - presumably to be a goal threat - he needs to be moving into space rather than into teammates. Switching your striker role to a Deep Lying Forward (attack) would be one way of achieving this, particularly if you want to keep your striker on an attacking duty. It may be worthwhile simplifying your team instructions also to allow you to build from the ground up based on the philosophy you are trying to implement. That way it's easier to identify why something is/isn't working. Looking at your tactic, it seems like you are going for building from the back when you have the ball and pressing intensely to win the ball back when you don't have the ball. When you watch your matches - are you able to successfully build from the back often or does it seem you are losing possession and/or being pressed too quickly? Perhaps looking at your attacking width (this would add more effect to your IFs to Ws role change if you went with that) and tempo may increase the likelihood of you successfully bringing the ball out of defence more consistently and having a touch more space to play in. where are you winning the ball back on the pitch - are you winning the ball in an advanced enough position to launch quick counter attacks - similar tweaks to both the line of engagement and defensive line could help if you have spot an issue here. one last point - 'Pass into Space' is more effective when being pressed otherwise there's no space to pass into. If you are playing as a top team and most of your opponents are sitting back against you, the pass into space instruction is probably not helping you a great deal.
