If you suspect its the save game itself then I'd try on a new save with just a few leagues loaded and seeing if the issue reproduces, but that method is more to make sure there are no corrupted files anywhere in the folder.

I'm really sorry we don't have a solution for you yet, it's just really difficult to pin down the issue without having your physical machine in front of us.
Could I get you to delete the entirety of the Sports Interactive folder, just to make sure it's completely vanilla when you load it up next:
Create a folder and name it something to distinguish it (say SI backup)
Once you've done this go to your Sports Interactive folder found within 'documents' which by default is at the following location - C:\Users\[YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME]\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020.
This should contain folders like 'games', 'crash dumps' etc. Please cut every folder from here and paste them into the folder you've created on your desktop.
Once you've done this and the Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020 folder is now empty, launch the game. If it works, copy back the files from the desktop folder and hopefully it should now load without any issues.

No need to apologise - it's not your fault, just one of those things.
The only difference I can think of is that I'm using multiple countries (and more leagues), which I've never really done before - so potentially it's just my machine struggling with it. I guess saving / processing / and loading the list of scouting priorities are all quite high-load tasks, so maybe that's sending it over the edge.
I will give that a go though. So, sorry - do I then paste my save game file back in before I load up?

No, not at all - only the standard editor. And the editor file used has been used on many other saved games without issue.

Sorry, I think I'd struggle really - sometimes saving, sometimes processing. I tend to just be in FM.
I'm now auto-saving daily to be on the safe side, which isn't too painful in fairness, so if it can't be solved, it can't be solved...

To be fair, I only usually play one country, so if you're saying it may be system issues, that might make sense. I was assuming the crash dump would contain some golden nugget to diagnose.

I've only ever had one crash with FM20, and now 3 in a week with my new save.

You can always train them for the role, but just playing them there enough will get them used to the role.

I'm really looking to play with an inverted RWB - and Liverpool won't sell Trent for any less than £200m.
Kimmich is an option, but when I search focusing only on attributes, Rodrigo Bentancur ticks so many boxes - except, he "is not comfortable in this position". Not even slightly.
So my question is, can Rodrigo make it work?
(I know roles and green circles etc are often discussed, so a link to the Bible on this is as well appreciated as a comment.
