  1. Boreham's 4th Season 1/5 Despite my team having a very good pre-season, we have lost well over a dozen players from the club, this included key players that had a role in the first team, which now leaves me with a small squad at my disposal and with the league about to get under way, our preparations has been disrupted with number of players leaving which has unsettled the team and I am really worried that this could have a knock on affect on us and start the season in poor form, just like we were last year with losing the first 4 out of the 5 games. This season the media has predicted that my team will finish at end of this league campaign in 18 position, clearly there isn't much faith in the ability of my team with media not expecting a lot from us, with losing players after this prediction of theirs they could very well be right, I really hope that it doesn't happen to us, if so we have to be prepared for a hard battling season ahead, I firmly believe a mid-table finish would be a good achievement, which something we should be aiming for and even perhaps creep into the play-off's, that would be a fantastic accomplishment and represent an excellent season for us, this would show that overall Boreham Wood FC would be making good progress going forward and that last season was just a blip, a bump in the road as they say!. I would also like to have a good cup run which would generate income into our club and improve our reputation as well, good cup runs can also help with the players confidence something that I'm hoping will happen this time, at moment we are a small squad, but we shall go out and do our best in every match that my team plays in, our first up coming league match is away to Gateshead. League Away Gateshead 2-1 Boreham We opened up our league campaign with a away loss to Gateshead, it was a close match with them doing just enough to beat us, midfielder Jay Harris gets his first goal of the season, in all of our meetings so far we have not been able to beat them as they just seem to get the better of us, we have them at our home Meadow Park and my team will look forward to that!. League Away Kettering 1-1 Boreham A good away draw I consider this match to be as Kettering are a decent side, I was also pleased to see new signing Bobby Conlon get of the mark by scoring his first goal for the club with it being only his 2nd appearance, not a bad way to start is it now!. League Home Boreham 2-0 Forest Green Our first win of the season and a sweet clean sheet to go with it as well, Jay Harris scores early in the game to settle us down and once defender Fraser Kerr scored to put us 2 in front, it turned into a comfortable win for the team. League Away Cambridge 1-1 Boreham A decent away draw which I'm pleased with, but it's the form of ball winning midfielder Jay Harris that has really made me happy, he has a return of 3 goals in 4 matches which is a fantastic start for him, it look as if he's continuing his good form from last season when Jay won the clubs voted player of the season, good man!. League Home Boreham 1-0 Nuneaton For some reason when ever we play them there always seems to be drama unfolding between us, it was such a close match all the way right until the final whistle, only an own goal from Andrew Mason that separated both sides with that being enough to claim the win, Nuneaton can count themselves very unlucky not to have got nothing for their efforts today. League Home Boreham 3-1 Oldham Striker Brian Maher gets his season up and running with him netting his first goal in the league which put us in front, but we lost our lead conceding just before the interval, for the most part of this match it was close right up until an unlucky own goal midway through the 2nd half by goalie James Gilpin which his mistake or plain bad luck swung the game in our favour, Fraser Kerr tops it off with his superb goal which seals a 3-1 win against a former league 2 side from only last year, a fantastic result from my team I'm pleased to say. League Away Welling 3-0 Boreham OUCH! my team were poor slumping to a convincing 3-0 loss, just one of those days in the office as we struggled and didn't seem to be able to get into the match as we wanted, I'm putting this down to just a bad one off performance from the team and that we just didn't turn up for the occasion, with our decent start in the league I believe that to be the case. League Home Boreham 2-0 Hayes & Yeading Yeeeeessssssssss at last!, we have finally beaten them, what happened there, in previous meetings with them we always seem to struggle against them and I don't know why?, but on this occasion my team managed it coming out on top on one of our bogey sides, Brian Maher got his goal to give us the lead which we held on with that single goal until near the end when I sent on new signing midfielder Louis Harris on in the 75th minute who marked his début with a fine goal, a great introduction for him at his new club. League Away Crewe 1-1 Boreham At the start of the league campaign there was a vacancy to become the next Crewe manager, I felt this was a good step for me and I put my application in, my name into the ring so to speak, the Crewe board said they consider this and get back to me soon, I was later informed by them that they wasn't willing to pay the release of my contract so the answer was no, if they reached a different decision I could of found myself in the opposite dug out this afternoon. Anyway this match ended in a draw, a good result for us I would say especially when we were trailing behind for the most part of this match, but Fraser Kerr produced the goods with a smart header to level the score in the last few minutes of the game, a competitive match between us and felt we were good value for our point my team gained today. League Home Boreham 3-2 Stockport County Goals galore in a thrilling encounter with Stockport County where neither team concentrated on defence, just solely on attacking play which something the supporters enjoyed watching especially Boreham Wood FC fans, goals flowed through out this game and were good quality strikes from both sides, the scorers from our team today was Fraser Kerr again!, striker Mehdi Lazaar and impressive Jay Harris. League Away Guiseley 1-1 Boreham Playing Sadiqs team always represents a challenge to us, so when playing them it's important that we get off to a good start, but did that happen, NO! we most certainly didn't is the answer as my team conceded a penalty to them which they converted to go 1-0 up with about 30 mins gone, not the start really we wanted considering the opposition we are playing. My team did well to stay in the match and slowly we started to get back into it, we got the equaliser from awesome defender Fraser Kerr who incredibly has scored 4 goals in 6 matches, a return that I'll be very happy with from one of my strikers never mind a defender, with his goal this helped the team to claim a very good draw from Sadiq's side. League Home Boreham 2-1 Bromley Happy with our victory over them and a bit of revenge too as they knocked us out of the FA Trophy 1st Round last year, so they are no pushovers despite their league position at moment, my team went out and did the job doing enough to win the game, Jay Harris is keeping up his very good form for us as he gets himself on the score sheet again and a fine goal from Umit Eminoglu his first in the league this year, Umit has become one of our key players in the team and are lucky to have the Turkish midfielder with us, late on in the match Bromley did grab a goal back to make it a tense finish for the last few minutes, but my team held on and got the win we wanted. League Away AFC Wimbledon 3-2 Boreham Lots of goals in this entertaining match between the 2 sides, the supporters were given their money's worth for sure when watching this one, both teams had the lead in this match at some point with goals flying in, Mehdi Lazaar gets our 1st for us and Umit Eminoglu grabs our 2nd of the game, despite our efforts it wasn't enough as we lost due to mistakes in our defending, a little bit disappointing to lose as we were on a good run of results recently.
  2. Boreham's Pre-Season 4 After a very disappointing season with us finishing in 16th position, we have stalled on our progress as I believe my team were capable of a top 10 finish in the league, I had hoped that we could do it, but it didn't happen this year, oh well! I suppose it could of been far worse as we could of got ourselves relegated from this division, which we were seriously at one point in doing so as my team stayed round the relegation zone for half the season, in the end though we pulled through climbing to safety and achieve a reasonable low mid-table position. Anyway that's now behind us and everyone here at Boreham FC is preparing for our 3rd year in The Blue Square Premier, I do feel there needs to be a lot of work done by me now during the pre-season as I have made some mistakes admittedly especially over the last year or 2 even, but I am looking to sort it out and put it right for this campaign. These are the mistakes I believe I have made. 1) James Wayland has the right idea and that's to arrange a lot of friendly fixtures against the big teams which pulls the money in, especially with managing a small club on limited resources at one's disposal, this is probably my worse mistake of them all with not arranging any of these money spinners as part of our preparations during the last 3 season's with me being manager at the club. 2) Due to lack of funds, I've not been able to improve our training facilities during my time here, so most of our players have not developed to their full potential at this club, which to me this is a joint failure on my part and the board for various reason's. 3) Another reason is the number of players I signed for the club either on free transfers or on loan, the squad had got to large for the club to financially cope with in the long term and I believe this also had a unsettling affect on the team in general with to many players coming and going for various reason's, this is mostly of course down to the current training here where players have been bought because of their potential recommended by our scouts, that I went ahead and signed them for the club and disappointingly most fail to deliver on their promise, that is why I've bought an excessive amount of players with in the last 2 years, there were a few that didn't get many games under their belts, I felt bit like a kid in a candy store but instead couldn't stop buying players, so to you board I'm asking can we up grade our training facilities PLEASE! and soon. So for this pre-season I'm going to make some changes in the way that I have approached things before, I have arranged 3 friendly fixtures against the big sides playing them all away at their grounds which will help pull in much needed income into the club, this will hopefully pay for the cost of improving our training facilities and I feel we will benefit from this hugely, if one thing that's achieved of the pitch this season is that I be very happy indeed!, in total 9 friendly fixtures has been organised for us to play, which should get us ready for the league that's waiting for my team. Friendly Fixtures Friendly Away Southampton 3-2 Boreham By playing Southampton away we will receive 14k for this, it's got to be worth it even if it means extra friendly's, I just don't want to go over board and make the players tire out in the long term or even worse is risking them with unnecessary injuries before the league starts, anyway the match itself was a close affair with my players putting in a very good effort, which we only ended up losing 3-2, our goals were scored by Marcel Barrington and Jeremiah Anson. Friendly Away Ipswitch 2-2 Boreham A draw against a respected Championship side, it might only be a friendly, but I'm still happy with the result never the less, defender John O'Brien who I believe will be an important player for us this season finds the net in this match, it was also great to see another defender Thomas Lyskov get on he score sheet too. Friendly Away Aston Villa 1-0 Boreham We lost!, but we lost with pride!, with only conceding 1 goal to them and probably their first team playing or at least some, I'm more than happy with the result and proud of the players effort, as we sent our travelling fans that made the trip going back home pleased at what they saw and felt good about the team. Friendly Home Boreham 3-5 Arsenal Reserves Not shocked to see my team concede 5 goals, but a little perhaps to see my team score 3 goals against them, an entertaining game for the supporters to watch for sure and I am delighted that we were capable of causing them some real problems today, goals from Jay Harris, youngster James Sheehan and talented Kiernan Hughes-Mason. Friendly Home Boreham 1-1 Leyton Orient A decent home draw against a established league 2 side, a close encounter between us with Marcel Barrington getting our only goal to end this match in stalemate. Friendly Away Ashford 0-3 Boreham We have a new feeder team, I've recently agreed to create a link between us and Ashford replacing the Potters FC, I felt a change was needed as the previous link was never used as my players didn't want to go there on loan, can't say I blame to be honest, so now hopefully this time it will be different and players will not mind going there to get on loan experience if nothing else was available to them at time, a comfortable match in our first meeting with them winning 3-0, a brace from defender Fraser Kerr and Aaron McMahan grabbing a goal for himself seals it for us. Friendly Home Boreham 1-1 Watford Brian Maher finds the net again with an excellent strike against Watford our parent club, a joint partnership which is now being going on for a few good years and I still consider our strong links with them to be in the best interest's for our Boreham FC. Friendly Away Salisbury 0-2 Boreham We are back at the ground that was part of our fantastic achievement of getting promoted through the play-off's in our 1st season, happy memories for us here and will always be for the foreseeable future, today we ran out comfortably 2-0 winners with good goals from our players Umit Eminoglu and Brian Maher. Friendly Away Concord Rangers 1-2 Boreham Our last friendly fixture and we finished it off with a win, defender Danny Hall and Brian Maher scores the goals to seal it for us, Brian has started well scoring 3 in 4 games and is looking sharp to, if continues in this form he start the season very well, based on his pre-season performances. Back-room Staff An area that I'm really getting frustrated with is the reluctance from the board to increase the coaching staff, they did agree to allow for some recruits in my first year at the club, but since then been adamantly refusing to increase it further, it's only recently of telling the board of how important this is that they have agreed to now extend the coaching staff, but they stated that the finances just isn't there at this moment.

  7. League Away Welling 2-1 Boreham We lost our opening game of the season, we had found ourselves 2-0 down midway through the 2nd half and then suddenly they had one of their players sent off! going down to 10 men, it gave us a chance to get back into the match with Daryl McMahan scoring a superb free kick, but it was to late for us though and Welling did enough to beat us winning 2-1. League Home Boreham 1-1 York With 2 of our first choice strikers in the treatment room, I had to give a rare start for Oliver Forsyth in this match, I have to say he didn't let me down as Oliver scores to help the team claim a good draw from a strong York side, a closely even match between the 2 teams. League Away Mansfield 3-0 Boreham A match I would rather forget as we just didn't turn up today, football is a strange game as our team lost 3-0 the same scoreline that we beat them last season at this very ground, I feel really let down by Rob Kozluk as he got himself sent off! quite early in the game and he hasn't performed since he's arrived here in all honesty, I'm wondering when is he going to prove his worth to me as I can't accepted this for much longer and maybe a parting in the ways is needed. League Home Boreham 0-1 Weston Super Mare No more than 6 shots between the 2 sides for the whole game, that says it all really and I can't wait till my first choice strikers Kiernan Hughes-Mason and Ben Williamson comes back from their injuries, in a poor match James Weyland team just scraped the win and went home with the 3 points, congrats to them as sometimes to win games, they need to be played in an ugly fashion which my team needs to do more of. League Away Hayes & Yeading 2-0 Boreham A team we always seems to struggle to play against, they are turning into one of our bogey sides and I am getting frustrated that we come out 2nd best each time we meet, my team shall look forward to having them at our ground later on in the league and give them a dose of their own medicine. League Home Boreham 2-0 Cambridge HE'S BACK!, that man is Kiernan who has returned from his injury and has wasted no time in scoring with grabbing himself a brace to give us our first win of the season, he has been missed by us as goals have been lacking with only 2 in 4 games, this shows we haven't the depth in the striking department and that we need another player for that position asap. League Away Grimsbury 2-0 Boreham A missed opportunity to win as Grimsbury has been rubbish so far with only 2 points and at this moment bottom in the table, a position we were in a week ago until our first win, with that result I thought my players would be more confident than Grimsbury of getting a victory we wanted, I felt they were there for the taking as their confidence was shot to pieces, it goes to show that form can count for nothing as we went out losing 2-0 to them. League Home Boreham 1-0 Stockport A very surprising win for us as we beat them 1-0 and deserved it too, a superb long ranged effort from Jay Harris was enough to claim the victory, we did need to defend really well towards the end as they increased the pressure on us with their great attacking play as they went in search for the equaliser, my team held firm and got a fantastic result considering Stockport were flying high in 1st place and full of confidence leading up to this match. League Home Boreham 2-0 Forest Green Our 3rd home win in a row now, I'm pleased that my team are becoming a hard opposition to play against when on our own ground (Meadow Park), with having good home form it helps massively to have a successful season, we played good today with nice goals from new signing (striker) Brian Maher grabbing his first for the club and Jay Harris finding the net again giving us our win, my teams defending has been excellent with our 3rd clean sheet in a row at home, something that the team can be proud of!.
  8. Boreham's Pre-Season 3 After a very good 1st season in The Blue Square Premier with finishing in 12th position, could my team build on that and do better maybe reaching the play-off's, I personally feel we are not yet good enough to achieve this and that a mid-table position would be more realistic goal for us, I have told the board that's our aim for start of the season, at least for now!, the media seems reluctant to back us with a prediction of 15th place, I'm confident we can do better than that and perhaps a top 10 finish is achievable, I just think play-off's is maybe to ambitious at this moment, we'll have to see!. FMELCLAN Cup Trophy All the human managers teams are getting together to play our annually competition that's held at the start of pre-season, the set ups the same as last year with high v high in one group and low v low in the other, the winners from their groups each receives a trophy for their efforts, it was a very good event again and this how we all got on. FMELCLAN Cup Trophy 1st Round Home Boreham 1-1 Weston Super Mare (Boreham won 3-2 on penalties) We always seem to have close games with James Wayland teams and this one was no different, in fact it took a penalty-shoot out to get a winner between us, Daryl McMahan got our only goal in the match including extra time played out to a 1-1 draw, it was then decided by a penalty shoot-out which we went on to win, but in these circumstances it's mostly down to luck really, we take this though of course!. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate James Wayland's team of their fantastic achievement of winning The Blue Square South Premier League, they really did deserve it well done!. FMELCLAN Cup Trophy Final Home Boreham 1-3 Worchester Despite it being only a friendly competition I was still gutted we didn't win as it would of been our first trophy, Lee Owen's team got their hands on it with producing a very good performance against us, another team I send my congratulations to as they also achieved promotion by winning The Blue Square North Premier League, that's 2 trophy's won with in months of each other with of course the league being the one that really matters to their club, incredible stuff Lee!. Also congrats to Sadiq's team Guiseley as they got promoted through the play-off's a fantastic achievement and this will more than help make up for their pain, bad memories that they suffered the season before with not going up the first time. Friendly Fixture's Friendly Away Ebbsfleet 3-1 Boreham We didn't perform here and were beaten comfortably 3-1, we just wasn't in the game, probably not going to be with playing a few reserves during this one, but I need to play them though to see how our strength in depth is of the squad and will be experimenting over the remaining friendly's, one player that did his cause no harm is James Sheehan who scored today and is only 16 years of age, I really hope he develops his potential and kicks on, he's got time on his side. Friendly Home Boreham 1-6 Arsenal Pure class what more can I say, hopefully one day that I be managing a top club like that lol, I just have to prove to all that I'm a very good manager and that my record over the years will land me a job higher in the leagues, with regards to the game, despite the opposition it was still a poor result there's no getting away from it, imagine if we played the first team they would of been in double figures surely. Friendly Away Potter Bar 0-2 Boreham A routine win against our feeder club with goals from fringe players defender Jeffery Imudia and striker Oliver Forsyth which seals it for us.
  9. Boreham's 2nd Season 5/5 We have managed to get a few wins under our belts recently and leaving behind our worst run of results that we probably ever going to have, a run of 13 matches is not good enough for the standard that I want and the players know this, so hopefully we won't go through such a bad spell in the future, I'm just glad that we are out of it now and looking more like the team we was at the start of the season. League Home Boreham 2-0 Histon Due to both injuries and tiredness which happens from time to time during the season, I gave a rare start to Oliver Forsyth who again didn't let me down with scoring the opening goal, good man!, and FINALLY Jordon Connerton gets his first goal for the club after about 10 games he's played in, the actual goal he scored was pure luck as it bounce of him when there was a goal mouth scramble, but hey they all count, I was though expecting more from him after being advised that he was a quality striker for this level, I'm as yet to see any of that so far. League Away Chelmsford 2-2 Boreham This one were a very close match as it ended into an entertaining 2-2 draw, a great performance overall from our on loan striker Michael Uwezu as he grabbed himself a brace and pick up the MOTM award as well, a good point away which my team won't be to disappointed with. League Home Boreham 0-0 Bath One positive out of this game is the clean sheet we're got, but the most disappointing thing was our use of the ball as we didn't really do anything with it when in possession, Bath will be the happier of the 2 teams out of this dull affair. League Away Mansfield 0-3 Boreham Considering the opposition we had to play, I would say this is our best away performance of the season, a return for Kiernan who recently came back from injury found the net again, but it was ever present Daryl McMahan that really stood out as he scored 2 well taken goals and picking up the MOTM award in the process, he was simply outstanding today. League Home Boreham 2-0 Braintree A comfortable game for us I have to say, we more less stayed in 2nd gear for the most part, excellent goals from defender Danny Hall who has his 5th of the season and Daryl McMahan finds the net again which makes it 3 in 2 matches for him and also seals our win today. League Away AFC Wimbledon 4-0 Boreham After a very nice run of results, we're well and truly came unstuck when played here losing 4-0 to them OUCH!, we were out played through out and it was gutting to lose by this scoreline, but we won't dwell on this to much and move on, it probably helps a lot with knowing that our form over the last half dozen matches has kept us safe for this year. League Home Boreham 0-1 Gateshead I think the players concentration may been off as now nothing really to play for apart from a mid-table position, as we have achieved our aim of staying up, I felt some of my players were mentally already on their hols for the summer, well going by the match with what I saw that is, in the dressing room afterwards I told them all that the holidays isn't here yet and that there is still 3 games to go and points to be won which could give us a more respectable league position, so come on guys lets climb the table and finish on a high I said. League Away Forest Green 1-0 Boreham The effort from the players was there, just they were better than us today playing solidly keeping us quiet for most of the match, all my strikers seemed to have gone missing as this is now the 4th game in a row that any of them has scored, something I'm not going to worry about though at this stage with only just 2 league games to go. League Home Boreham 2-1 Kidderminster Well our strikers have gone of the boil of late, they have all not been able to find the net much recently, but who needs them when we got the opposition scoring the goals for us, Kidderminster gave us this match on a silver plate with 2 own goals, a little embarrassing for them in the way that they lost this one, my team took all the 3 points and that's all that matters when it comes down to it, even if this match was gift wrapped for us today. League Away Southport 1-1 Boreham Our final match of the season, a close encounter between the two sides with this match ending as a 1-1 draw, our captain Mario Noto plays very well and gets his deserved goal which was an excellent strike and enough to claim a good point away from home for us, Mario Noto has been an excellent servant to Boreham FC and has also been a very good captain to the team as well and is now a icon at the club. Summary We'll that's the end of our 1st season in The Blue Square Premier and our final league position is at 12th place, we are more than happy with that achievement for this year, in the last 2 years at Boreham we have made incredible progress as a club with gaining promotion last season and now have achieved a respectable mid-table finish, something for us all to be proud of, I would say my spell at club has been a great success so far and hope we can continue to progress, even though this will be hard with limited resources and being a small club still, but with continued improvement over at Boreham FC that will change over time. Anyway I'm delighted on how the season has gone with staying away from the relegation zone for the most part, great credit has to go to all the players and staff that's made this possible, the only negative thing is that we didn't do well enough in the cups this time, but there's always next season to do better and we will be looking to do just that.
  10. Boreham's 2nd Season 4/5 As of this moment the team is going through a really bad run with now real threat of relegation ever looming over us, if we don't pick up a win soon we find ourselves in battle to survive in this division, something I know nobody wants to be involved in, it wasn't long ago we were playing well and sitting in mid-table and now suddenly it seems to have disappeared just like that!. Through this awful run of form we only managed 3 points from a possible 21 in total a bad return, a crisis springs to mind I think, we have also been knocked out of both cup competitions with in a month which now leaves us with only the league to play for, that shows how badly we are struggling at this minute, our next fixture is away to Luton a hard place to play and we do well to get a draw there, we need points desperately and hope my team can get something from this to get us going. League Away Luton 2-0 Boreham Despite our 2-0 loss to them, it was a hell of a lot better than the hammering they gave out to us earlier in the season, the players I feel had performed more to their abilities in this match, much improved than some of our recent efforts during the last month or so, I told the players that not to be to down about our loss as we were playing one of the stronger teams in this league and in form, a win will come for us as long we put in the same effort like today. League Away Wrexham 2-0 Boreham The effort was there, but not the quality as we suffered yet another loss to increase our win less run, I can't be to hard on the players with playing Wrexham away, another team that's up in the promotion places, it's frustrating to see my team struggle in this match and the last half dozen others before, as manager I need to come up with a solution to halt our sudden terrible form, though I do understand that we have come up against some very good teams which left us wanting at times admittedly, we do need to start picking up points or relegation will be a reality for the whole club. League Away Hayes & Yeading 1-1 Boreham We played them here not long ago and they gave us a real battering that even surprised me at time, they are in the relegation zone and have been for the most part, despite that fact!, their team seem to give us a lot trouble when it comes to playing them, they scored the opening goal and kept us at bay for most of this match, but we did make the break through with on loan Michael Uwezu scoring his first goal for the club, it turned out to be the equalising goal for us and probably a defining result at that. It wasn't a good game to watch, not surprising really with both teams round the danger zone, but at moment I take a point however it comes and I was relieved with getting a draw in the end, my team managed to stop a run of not finding the net in 6 games, FINALLY!. League Home Boreham 2-1 Alfreton Yeeesssss! at last! our first win in 13 games in all competitions, it's been so long for me and my team that we forgot how it felt like to win, so need to say we all very happy with the victory and hopefully can use this to spur us on in the league, a good performance from the team, but special praise goes to Thomas Lyskov our reliable left back, who today got his first goal for the club and what a spectacular one it was as he was running from the left side of the pitch, he saw the goalkeeper of his line, from 40 yards out roughly he took a chance and to everyone's delight it went in, I personally won't see many goals better than what I seen today, the supporters were singing his name after that with the atmosphere in the stadium now was rocking. A own goal by their goalkeeper Nik Kudiersky as he fumbled a shot into his net, I think a day he would like to forget very quickly as was at fault with both the goals conceded that cost his side, they did score towards the end, but we did enough and held on for the win. League Away Tamworth 1-0 Boreham We may have lost!, but it was a close match between the 2 teams, a 1-0 scoreline would suggest there were few chances created by either side, that wasn't the case as we had about a dozen shots to score, the quality of our finishing was our down fall again, but at least we are more competitive with giving them a good game. League Away Grimsbury 1-0 Boreham Another close match that ended in a 1-0 loss, my team found it hard to get going as Grimsbury had control for the most part, keeping us from playing how we wanted to, our away form this season hasn't been good it has to be said, I just hope we can between now and end of season that the team can get 1 or 2 wins to help improve our away struggles. League Home Boreham 1-0 AFC Telford A very close game this was, on loan signing Michael Uwezu scores the only goal in this, that gave us all 3 valuable points, a vital win for us and really deserved as well, a good team performance and we also managed to keep our first clean sheet in a while which will do the team some good, I feel that our confidence is slowly coming back, I certainly hope it continues too. League Away Nuneaton 1-2 Boreham League Home Boreham 0-0 York I'm very happy to take a draw from this match and keep our momentum going in the league, our defending has improved recently which is helping us pick up results we need, I'm pleased to have picked up 4 points over the 2 games when playing York, also another clean sheet to be proud of against strong opposition. League Away Newport County 2-4 Boreham Defender Danny Hall put in probably the best individual performance he is ever going to produce in his life, he was magnificent today and deservedly won MOTM award, I be very happy for one of my strikers to score a hat-trick never mind a defender getting one, but he did which was just incredible really, it was a one man show out there for all to see. We did take the lead through Michael Uwezu scoring a wonderful goal, who has proved to be a good loan signing for the club, lots of goals and good football been played today, entertaining stuff for our supporters and the day belonged to Danny Hall which will be remembered for a while to come. Summary I have to say I'm so relieved that we are out of our awful win less run of 13 matches in all competitions, we was all starting to get really concerned about the situation we were finding ourselves in, it was really affecting the team as well as myself!, I did my best to guide us through it keeping positive and encouraging the players to believe that a win was just round the corner if we just keep at it, obviously it's easier said than done when losing games, we are thankfully over our crisis and have now started to pick up good results recently with some positive performances too.
  11. Boreham's 2nd Season 3/5 My team have been in fantastic form recently and with an exciting trip to Bournemouth away in the first round of the FA Cup to play, the way my team feels at moment is that we could cause an upset and get a shock win for ourselves, of course it's unlikely that they get beaten especially on their patch, but who knows what could happen as my team is high on morale and confidence, as for the league despite some hard fixtures coming up, we feel we can continue to pick up some more valuable points with our form being so very good. FA Cup 1st Round Away Bournemouth 3-0 Boreham To be honest, a result that was probably expected amongst most if not everyone, we were out played through out and lucky not to have conceded more than the 3 goals during the match, we are now out of the FA Cup thanks to Bournemouth, but there's no shame in losing to a well established league 2 team, we move on now and focus our attentions on the league that the team have been doing well in so far. League Away Gateshead 0-0 Boreham A very dull game it has to be said with very few real chances from either side, still a decent point away from our 0-0 draw with Gateshead, I'm also pleased that my team have managed to keep another clean sheet which at this level is very good and hope we can continue getting more along the way, the more clean sheets the better. League Home Boreham 0-2 Forest Green This is our 3rd game in a row that my team have not been able to find the back of the net, a little bit concerned I have to say, I probably most likely have to get a very good striker to help Kiernan with the goals, he's been fantastic for us, but I can't burden him with the sole responsibility of getting all the goals for the team that's to much pressure on one player and that I'll be doing my best along with my scouts to get someone in, Forest Green were in control for the most part as they cruised to a 2-0 win and reminded us on how hard this league can be. League Away Kidderminster 3-3 Boreham What a thrilling match for the neutral!, goals galore and some good football being played between the 2 sides, it was a bad day for the defenders out there, but it was a chance for the strikers to shine which Kiernan did that with 2 well taken goals and was a constant threat to them through out the game, despite his brace we were still trailing 3-2 and looking very likely to lose this one, then with a few minutes left on the clock Sam Hurrell scores the important equaliser to send our supporters into raptures, the noise level was deafening inside the stadium as we claimed a good draw for us and sent who supports our team leaving very happy. League Home Boreham 2-2 Southport Even though this is our 3rd draw in 4 matches, I consider drawing 2-2 with Southport a decent result and a big part of that goes down to Kiernan for scoring another brace and both cracking efforts at that too, it seems that our form has dropped slightly since playing Bournemouth away and hope that we can get going again. FA Trophy Boreham 1-1 Hayes & Yeading With it being the FA Trophy, I sometimes as manager try to rest a few of our top players and give a chance to others who are not always playing regularly, still though this time I played near a full strength team, despite playing our strongest side we struggled to impose ourselves during the game and were losing 1-0 right till the end with only minutes to spare, we some how got the equaliser thanks to talented striker Kiernan Hughes-Mason who just seems to keep scoring with in the last 2 months. I'm really glad I offered him a £300 week contract which he accepted and signed a few months back, before that he was on a non-contract agreement at club and surely with this form other clubs would of been very interested in taking him of us in no time at all. FA Trophy (Replay) Hayes & Yeading 4-0 Boreham Admittedly I took a small gamble and rested half the first team to give them a much needed rest as the fixtures were starting to pile up and the league being more important especially with us going off the boil recently, so I made changes and gave a few players a chance believing they could do a job and get a result for us, I thought it would be very close game with some of my players being fresh thinking that would be in our favour for this match, to my horror they hammered us 4-0 and played us off the pitch, this performance has really been a real eye opener for me and perhaps the depth of the current squad is not good enough to compete as I thought originally, we will need some good players bought in at some point to improve the squad and hopefully soon. League Home Boreham 2-3 Crewe Not this time!, the real Crewe team turned up to play, they gave us a footballing lesson that is expected from a last years former league 2 side, their attacking play was excellent that we just couldn't handle them today, if it wasn't for their calamitous defending with 2 own goals from Matt Tootle and Dave Winfield they would of won this one more comfortably than the scoreline suggests, we were still in the match based on pure luck nothing more and didn't deserve anything from this even though I would of taken a point of course, based on their defending I can see why they got relegated from league 2 as 3 own goals in both games we played them is simply embarrassing for them. League Home Boreham 0-3 Cambridge Our 3rd home loss in a row, where did our very good form suddenly go to, we wasn't at all good enough today and haven't played that badly since facing Luton at Meadow Park, I'm a very patient manager but even I lost my temper after this result and gave the players a right telling off!, letting the players know exactly how I was feeling and what I expected from them, that we simply need to try harder if we want to get better performances and more importantly results, if don't then it won't be long before we find ourselves in a relegation battle. League Away Stockport 4-0 Boreham Probably one of the worst places to be playing during our bad run of form, a very good side they are and showed that by beating us comfortably with scoring 4 excellent goals, we were dominated for large parts of this match, we simply had nothing to offer today, in the dressing room afterwards I reminded them that we are still a few points above the relegation zone and that the target is to avoid that like it was at start of season, so lets put this run behind us and now look forward to moving on in our next game. Summary We'll we can certainly forget about any ambitions that we may of had of reaching the play-off's with our dreadful run of form at moment, our target for the start of the season was to avoid relegation, but all of us started to get really excited with how well we were doing and that perhaps the play-off's was something the club could achieve this year, not now though with my team will be just focused on beating the drop and surviving from now till end of the season, if we do better than that I will accept it as a bonus and will have a few less grey hairs as a result too.
  12. Boreham's 2nd Season 2/5 With having a good start in The Blue Square Premier League, it has given us more belief that we can compete at this level, our next match is Grimsbury which they will be playing us at home our ground Meadow Park, we also be travelling down to play York who me and my team knows what a tough opposition they are, our run of fixtures don't get any easier, but we will look forward to all of our up coming games and take the challenges head on. League Home Boreham 3-0 Grimsbury Our player of the season Daryl McMahan had an excellent game for us grabbing himself a brace and winning the MOTM award, also a début start for on loan defender Matt Fish who scored, what a nice way to introduce yourself to the club and especially the supporters, very happy with this win as Grimsbury are a good team to win 3-0 is a great result despite being at home. League Away York 1-2 Boreham Revenge is sweet oh yeah!, a fantastic away win against York who are very good team, we found that out the hard way when playing them in the FA Trophy Semi Final, I'm happy that finally my strikers have ended their bad runs and scored as they haven't done so since the league started and what this is the 12th game quite incredible really considering how well we doing in the league so far, Hopefully now my strikers are off the mark they can go on a scoring run that be good for us, Benedict Akwuegbu and Kiernan Hughes-Mason scored the goals that got us the shock and probably lucky win. League Home Boreham 2-0 Newport County A home win for us with Kiernan Hughes-Mason scoring a great goal and sub Inih Effiong getting on the scoresheet as well, another clean sheet for the team will do us a lot of good defensively as a team, we played well in this match and can feel the confidence coming out of the side. League Away Histon 0-1 Boreham This is what I like to see!, my striker Kiernan scoring his 3rd goal in 3 games, his goal was the only difference between the 2 sides that gave us the win, of course it didn't help having one of their players sent off midway through the match that very much helped us stay in control, we have now won 4 games in a row and to do it at this level is very good indeed and pleasing for me to see as well. League Home Boreham 1-1 Chelmsford Have to say a little disappointed to not have won when Kiernan scored again to put us in front, they equalised soon after and this one finished in a 1-1 draw in the end, I have noticed we can't seem to beat Chelmsford in the 3 occasions we've played them so far, beginning to think they are fast becoming our bogey team and still have to play them away later on, still a point is better than none and we move on to the next fixture now. League Home Boreham 0-1 Mansfield We lost and deservedly so in a match of few chances it seemed, very little was created with excessive long shots from either side, they got their 1 goal which was more than enough to seal the win and put a halt to our really impressive run of form of late, having not lost since Alfreton beat us 3-0. FA Cup Away Havant & Waterville 1-2 Boreham We are back to winning ways dumping Havant & W out of FA Cup, Mario Noto finds his scoring boots again and Kiernan who is in prolific scoring form gets the other goal to seal the win, that's now 5 times he's netted in 6 games, something that I'm very happy with and hope he continues to do so. League Away Bath 1-1 Boreham This fixture I was looking forward to on a personal level, in my youth days I spent a lot of my time in Bath either working or socialising, Bath's my home town where I was born and so as you can imagine I have a fondness of the whole place, I always lived with in 10 miles of Bath when growing up, if ever they wanted me to come and be part of their club I would join them despite my success with Boreham, perhaps one day I will be at Twerton Park u never know!. The match it's self was a close one and there was a few chances during it just the finishing less to be desired and ended in 1-1 draw, still a decent point though and a very good moment for new signing defender Danny Hall as he scores his first goal for the club. League Away Braintree 1-4 Boreham A fantastic performance from us winning this one 4-1, the score line didn't flatter us as we dominated them and with it being away I was so pleased with the players determination to win and play good football, goals from Darren Currie, Kiernan HUghes-Mason, Jay Harris and Daryl McMahan gives us our biggest away win that we probably have this season. League Home Boreham 2-1 AFC Wimbledon Another solid home win for us, a close match but we were able to hold out for the result we wanted, Sam Hurrell strike put us in front but then we conceded to them in the 2nd half and looked to be ending in a draw, so I sent on sub Inih Effiong and he got us the winner to claim all 3 points. Summary After a run of recent excellent form, we now find ourselves in the top half of the table with 19 league matches been played, with our promising position we managed to get into, we did now start to ask ourselves if reaching the play-off's was a realistic target for us, I admit it's still early days with only 1/3 of the season through, but seriously could we do it!, if so we would have to keep up this magnificent form up till the end of the season. There's a great atmosphere around the club at this moment as everyone is getting really excited with what we are achieving so far and I can't help myself either, but I'm trying not to get to carried away as there is still a long way to go and shall be reminding the players of that, the board has informed me how pleased they are with the running of the club in general. We have also made it through to the 1st round in the FA Cup which we have been drawn to Bournemouth away, a very difficult match to play for us, but my team will take it to them and give it a real go, might as well, nothing to lose!, it's unlikely we progress beyond this game unless Bournemouth have a real bad day at the office, it can happen that's why the FA Cup is so magical, I would like to have good cup runs this year, but the main priority is to keep our excellent league form going for as long as possible.
  13. Boreham's 2nd Season 1/5 As probably expected everyone here at the club and the supporters is very excited at the prospect of playing in The Blue Square Premier, with all the build up during pre-season, it has now finally arrived where we will be kicking off our first league match to Crewe, a difficult start as they were playing their football in league 2 last season. There will be a lot of hard matches to play in this league, but I do believe we can do well and maybe surprise a few along the way, we are confident and all prepared for the challenges ahead, but more importantly as a club is to enjoy playing in this league as not been here for a long time not to my knowledge anyway. League Away Crewe 0 - 3 Boreham Our first league match which turned into a shock result with us winning this one 3-0, complacency must of crept into the Crewe team with being at home as well, all them thought they just needed to turn up to win, I did believe this would be a hard match considering they were relegated from league 2, well! we made them pay as went riot on them as from the 6th minute when Darren Currie scores our first goal in the league. Crewe conceded a penalty and Mario Noto scored from the spot, an embarrassing own goal by Adedeji Oshilala capped a miserable time for him and his team, I don't know how he managed it really, it deflected of his shin into the goal from at least 10 yards out if not more when a shot was attempted and was going wide as well which made it look worse his own goal, a bad day at the office could say. League Home Boreham 2 - 1 Hayes & Yeading A very solid home performance from us winning 2-1 with Mario Noto scoring and a début goal from new signing Peter Wylie which was a stunning strike to double our advantage, we did concede late on but held on for the win in the end. League Away Cambridge 1 - 1 Boreham A very good result getting a draw as we were behind until the last few minutes when Mario Noto scores an important equaliser to clinch a valuable point for us, in injury time Daryl McMahan lost his temper and got sent off for his trouble, not happy really as he will now miss 3 matches when he is one of our key players in the team. League Home Boreham 0 - 1 Stockport County Due to my new goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar having to go and represent his country (Cananada), I had to rely on my back up goalie Michael Jordon and pleased to say he didn't let me down despite us losing 1-0, the score line flattered us as we were out played for most of the match, Michael Jordon capped an excellent individual performance and was nominated for MOTM award, I'm starting to have faith in his ability despite my assistant manager Darren Currie not rating him any better than fairy good player. League Home Boreham 1 - 1 Nuneaton Have to say a disappointing draw at home to them considering we were in control and leading for most of this game, as we all know a 1 goal lead is nothing, a good goal by defender James Smith put us in front but frustratingly we couldn't see the match out as they equalised to grab a draw of us, a close one between us and was probably a fair result at that. League Away Luton 1 - 0 Boreham This was a real tough match for us being out played for large parts of it, only losing 1-0 to them was a result in it's self, even though we lost I'm pleased with the effort the players put into this game with Luton, probably will be one of the contenders for promotion I would think. League Home Boreham 1 - 5 Wrexham The result says it all really!, a very bad performance from us to concede 5 goals at home despite playing Wrexham, we were out played for large parts again, but the difference this time the goals went in at alarming rate, Daryl McMahan first game back from his suspension scored the only consolation goal for us, this will probably not be the last time we get beaten heavily this season, admittedly we do need more good players to help us be more competitive in the league, I just hope I can get them. League Away Alfreton 3 - 0 Boreham The wheels are starting to come off, even though it's away I believed we could get at least a point here, but they performed well and comfortably beat us 3-0, we suddenly find ourselves in a bad run of form at this moment and I'm struggling to see where our next win is going to come from with the fixtures that's coming up. League Home AFC Telford 1 - 2 Boreham What a vital win for us after going 6 games without winning, 3 valuable points picked up on are travels a great result and much needed!, midfielder Jay Harris a new signing got his first goal for the club, a great moment for him and Mario Noto scores from the penalty spot again, he now has converted 3 from the spot getting himself amongst the goals, I'm pleased to see my captain stepping up to his responsibilities and playing well for the team. League Home Boreham 0 - 0 Tamworth A close match which neither team could make the break through, this one was scrappy and not pretty by any means, a 0-0 draw was to be the result in the end, on a positive note we managed our 2nd clean sheet so far and will give the whole team a boast especially our defenders and they will be keen to get hopefully more of them as well. Summary A steady start for us with playing some good stuff as well, we have managed to gain 12 points from our first 10 matches played so far, I'm very pleased with the effort shown from the players, if we carry on this sort of form we will avoid being relegated and that is our main objective for this season. One highlight so far that stands out is our incredible away win to Crewe, a memorable 3-0 victory that be remembered for a long time within the club and hope there will be more results like that to come.
  14. Boreham's 2nd Pre-Season What a exciting time for everyone here at the club following our recent promotion to The Blue Square Premier, it's going to be a harder season for us with playing teams like Crewe, Luton, Stockport County and of course York a team we played over 2 legs in the semi final of the FA Trophy, we struggled when played them losing 5-0 on aggregate, these will be the teams that we will be coming up against week in, week out. I'm fairly confident we can do well and at least stay in this division, the media seems to believe we are going straight back down with a prediction of 22nd place finish, I say lets prove them wrong, avoiding relegation is number one priority but may aim higher if we find ourselves in a very good position come round February, and also some very good cup runs would be great for the club, perhaps another semi final it could happen again!. Playing Squad With all players back for pre-season I got my assistant manager Darren Currie to give me a report on the whole squad, he reported the players were tired and unfit as expected to be honest coming back from their holidays, I gradually will ease them into their training routines for now and then will up the tempo and amount of training in a few weeks time so get them all well fit for start of the season, we also wasted no time working on are different tactics and formations to help prepare us, so hopefully our team will be more flexible and competitive to play in this league. FMELCLAN Cup Trophy A great idea suggested that all human managers will take part in a friendly knock-out competition in the late part of June, which has been agreed to take place every season as part of our pre-season preparations, the competition is called the FMELCLAN Cup Trophy, 8 human managers will make up 2 groups of 4 and is decided on the previous season finishes on who will play each other starting with highest to lowest position. We have played our first friendly competition between us and it proved to be an enjoyable successful event, this is also a good competition for are assistant managers as they take control of the reins for their respective clubs and show what they can do and prove if they can cut it as managers themselves. Match Reports FMELCLAN Cup Trophy 1st Round Away Guiseley 2-0 Boreham We came unstuck here to a very good Sadiq side losing 2-0 to them, Guiseley is in the final of this competition after knocking us out, Sadiq has put a very good team together and I won't be panicking that we suffered a loss to them. FMELCLAN Cup Trophy Play-off For Third Home Boreham 2-0 Worchester Our play-off game we were entertaining Worchester at home, a good win for us as match ended 2-0 against also a very good team managed by Lee, goals from defender Charlie O'Loughlin and winger Jake Rosier seals are win, Lee's team I believe this season will be a contender for promotion along with Sadiq's Guiseley. Congrats to Sadiq's team for winning this years and first ever FMELCLAN Cup Trophy, this will surely give them a boast for the season ahead in their quest for promotion. Friendly's Friendly Away Arlesey 1-1 Boreham Our first friendly game turned into a scrappy one with probably the players still not yet fit at this stage, a 1-1 draw this game finished at with youngster Ruddock Yala getting the goal for the team. Friendly Home Boreham 0-1 Arsenal Reserves (Parent Club) Despite our best efforts we lost to the reserves, no shame in that considering the club is Arsenal, we can be proud of giving a good account of ourselves, I'm happy to confirm that they will remain one of our Parent clubs for next season. Friendly Home Boreham 0-1 Watford (Parent Club) My team only lost 1-0 to them, shows it must be a friendly as surely we couldn't have caused them this much trouble in a competitive fixture to Watfords first team, pleased anyway to lose only by the one goal to a strong championship side. Friendly Away Potter 0-4 Boreham (Feeder Club) Roles reversed as we are the parent club in our agreement with Potter, the difference between us showed as we ran out 4-0 winners, goals from Kiernan Hughes-Mason, Danny Stockhall and a brace for Oliver Forsyth. Friendly Home Boreham 3-0 Aldershot A good win for us beating them 3-0 as they are not a bad side, Daryl McMahan our player of the season gets a goal for himself, further strikes from Jon Clements and Charlie Hunter gives us a comfortable result.
  15. Reaching The Play-off's Very close in the end but we managed to get into the play-off's just when it looked like we were slipping out of contention, that was going on a 8 match win less run in the league which was awful timing for us, our form was poor and we had the FA Trophy semi final over 2 legs congesting the fixture list too, I honestly thought we would miss out on the play-off's for this season by how badly the results were going for us, strangely though we wasn't playing that bad during this difficult period it was the lack of goals that did the damaged to us, having my first choice striker Kiernan Hughes-Mason out injured when playing Farnborough might have something to do with the lack of goals, I do wonder if we would of done better with him in the team I guess we never know. With 4 games to go I held a meeting with my players telling them despite our bad run of results we are playing decently enough, that we can win some games before the season finishes reminding them that they are capable of winning with the players we have, the response I got was fantastic as they won all 4 of their remaining matches to pinch the last play-off spot (5th in league), some how my players was able to turn it around just in time, a fantastic effort on their parts for doing this what a achievement for the club and delight for the supporters. The Play-off's Rounds The draw revealed we had to play Salisbury over 2 legs first at our home (Meadow Park) and then away to them, despite them getting the better of us in the league, we were very much now playing well and getting results, approaching this match in good form and confident of reaching the final. Play-off semi final 1st Leg Home Boreham 4 v 1 Salisbury This was our best result during the whole season and what a time to do it as well, Kiernan Hughes-Mason played very well grabbing himself a brace and winning the MOTM award, more goals from midfielders Luke Garrard and Darren Currie sealed a great win for us, an excellent result which now puts us in a great position for away leg. Play-off semi final 2nd leg Away Salisbury 2 v 2 Boreham A difficult situation for Salisbury being 4-1 down leaving a lot for them to do, I wanted a steady performance from us and I decided to go with a 4.5.1 formation in looking to stop them creating any chances in this match, it didn't stop them scoring though as this one finished 2-2, but this result was more than enough to get us through to the final and we also kept our morale by not losing this game even with playing them at their ground, left winger Sam Hurrell and defender James Smith scored the goals for us. Play-off Final Away Weston Super Mare 0 v 1 Boreham So here we are in the final and playing against James Wayland's team, the last time we met they ran riot with us and gave us a beating winning 3-1, this time I believe we can give a good account of ourselves especially with everything to play for, it turned out to be a very tight game with not many chances from either side where an own goal was the only difference between the 2 teams. When Kiernan my striker headed the ball in the 6 yard box it was saved by James Gilpin but could only knock it on to the post and the ball came back at him and he fumble it over the line, a mistake I feel he couldn't avoid with my striker breathing down his neck, even though we played well enough to win James Wayland side didn't deserve to lose the match to an unlucky own goal and can feel grieved by the result which ended in 1-0 win for for us. Congrats to his team for making it to the final and finishing 3rd in the league as well a great achievement well done!. Won Promotion We have done it, Boreham Wood Football Club will be going up to a higher division next season, I'm proud of my players and deserve all the plaudits coming their way from supporters and the media, it turned out to be a fantastic season for myself and everyone who is part of this club.
