Another vote for Mehmet Ekici, free transfer and was player of the season for my Sunderland side in League 1. Will be interesting to see if he can play at the same level in the Championship as he is in his 30's now.

Also ex FM wonderkid Halilovic was at Birmingham on my save and I picked him up on the cheap in the January transfer window of season 1 and he was a stand out performer, hes a mini Modric.

Can't find him... Do you have to have Turkish Leagues or Players loaded?

Wow Saint Ettiene?! They struggles past few seasons on mine.

Have you noticed that PSG tends to overstock players in midfielders and attacking areas? On mine they spent hell alot in those areas even Mbappé, hardly starting alot of games!

Just calculated their spending they have spent just over 1 billion in 5 seasons!

Yeah, in my Monaco save, they bought players for redicilous sums and then gave them a few games before adding them to the transfer list.
I bought quite a few players off them that way.

Promotion has been secured with 3 games to spare. Happy with how the season has gone in general. I suffered some really strange results but I guess they happen in real life. I picked up some really great results towards the back end of the season where I played Wigan, Blackpool and Hull away in a week. Blackpool were second and Hull 3rd at the time. I managed to win 3-0 at Wigan, 2-0 at Blackpool and then a crazy 3-3 at Hull which pretty much secured promotion which I gained in my next game at home to Accrington.

Here are a few of my most important players of the season. Standout players were Halilovic (I kind of remember this lad being a bit of a wonderkid on previous FM's but noticed he was at Birmingham and they were willing to let him go). Gelhardt has currently got over 20 goals. And the others all stood out in their own way.

This guy was also my highest rated player from my youth intake. Needs a lot of work but Ill see how he goes.

Do you have to have Turkish players loaded for Ekici to be in the save? 'Cause I can't find him...

As promised, here is my first update.

I know Udinese inside out, so i decided to go on and play their strong traits: good defence and fast and lethal counters:

This is our base tactic, so i can make use of our main quality players (De Paul, Pereyra, Deulofeu and pussetto and Braaf fresh from the bench. Also youngster Palumbo is getting a lot of playtime. I also have a couple of variations in a 3-5-2 and 4-4-2 depending if needed during the match.

Mind i play with first transfer window turned off, i like to make do with what i have and get a feel of the team.

Well, first half of the season seems to be proving our strategy right: we are very solid and managed some great results, highlighting Juventus' nightmare trip to Udine, where they just came at us and we battered them, De Paul scoring 3 and missing also a penalty.

I'm delighted with this season, i hope to keep up and see if we can sneak in europe somehow, but i'll be fine with a safe mid table position while we rebuild an ageing and poor squad.

Now on to the winter transfer market, i'm planning on getting rid of our old backup players if i can get some interesting loans and bargains (mostly loans to buy, as there is no money), until our army of loanees comes back in summer (we have about 30 players out on loan).

I was actually considering Udinese as well, but decided against it... So I'll be following your progress with great interest.

Well sorta but that goes for all 3 teams you mentioned :D you should be able to reach top5 with hertha in first season tho. when i played with them earlier i finished 2nd in the first season. Whenever i play with other teams hertha always comes with big money from the start of season 2 and onwards and they just try to buy everyone tbh.

In germany they have everthing to become a fun save imo.

    Big stadium (74k)

    Cool city

    Money

    Decent mix of players

Only other team i personally would find interesting in germany is leipzig.

I do love Berlin 😁 Been there three times for Christmas, and a couple of times in the summer.

I've never seen any of the Berlin teams play though.

Searching for a team (preferably in the second or third division of a top-10 UEFA league) from a city in a region with strong local pride. Looking to emulate the Basque-only policy of Athletic but in other parts. Any advice of regions with strong local pride, looking to fight the "capital of the country" (in football terms of course) are welcomed.

An obvious one, but 1860 Münich? I know Münich isn't the capital though.

    Paris FC another option perhaps?

  7. I haven't played FM21 in ages now, and I feel like getting back into the groove.

I also haven't touched Italy this year, and hence that might be my next save.

I'm considering Parma & Atalanta as possible teams, two teams in different ends of the table. Anyone have any experience with either that might convince me?

Usually, I go with the more "boring" Inter or Milan...

Yeah just be weary that even though they are free transfers they will still cost the club in wages, signing on fees etc. I assume you knew this anyway but just saying just in case.

Nmecha was immense for me and I managed to sign him on a permanent deal. Also try sign his brother who is also very good.

He's my  number one target, but both Club Brügge and Benfica are interested in him... So I might not get him.

Good luck with Anderlecht. Finances will get better as long as you buy low and and sell high like you will probably do with Arezo and Gronil.

By the way Guindo turns into a really good striker and also tie down Yari Verschaeren to a long term contract with a big minimum fee release clause as he went to Bayern for a lot of money in my save.

Yeah, Guindo is getting some games off the bench, as Nmecha is simply superb atm., with 14 goals in 12 matches. And I do plan on eventually selling Verschaeren and Arezo for big bucks.

Luckily, 95% of the transfers I have my eye on in the summer, is gonna be free, as they have contract expiry in the summer of 2021. So hopefully, I can keep the money spending at a minimum and sell a few off for some hopefully big money. And I really hope I can overthrow Club Brügge, as finishing second would mean qualifying matches for the CL against some big teams.

  10. So... Gone with Anderlecht, and it's going... well, I suppose. The finances are awfull, and we're currently £20 million in the red, and counting. We need to make the Champions League this year!

In the league, it's pretty much a two-team race, with Club Brügge going insane, scoring 4 or 5 goals a match. Only made one signing, a young american on a free transfer.

Three players coming in on January 1st: Matias Arezo £1,6 mil, Isak Pettersson Free, Sigurd Grønli Free

lol ill still give it a go somewhere... HSBC are a bit funky, they have cash but the board step in on everything. So ive taken my talents to 3. Liga and the behemoth 'Kaiserslautern.

How the hell they are languishing down there ill never know, but ill give them a go at reviving their fortunes by hook or crook :D

Exactly what does the board step in on? Will they block transfers fx.?

  12. Started a save with Lille OSC.
It's challenging do to their finances, but I'll give it a go.

I sold José Fonte as he was 36 and didn't want to sign a new contract.

In came Anel Ahmedhozic from Malmö and Nicolas Nkoulou from Torino. Matias Arezo is joining in January.

In the league, 7 games played and I'm sitting 3rd behind PSG and Lyon.

My Europa League group consists of myself, Olympiakos, Feyenoord and Leicester.
