Vanarama National League South
2022/23
League Table | Transfers | Finances | Cup
We can look back on this season with pride. We had nowhere near the quality or depth to do anything in this league but somehow we've managed to battle and fight our way to safety and another season in the league. Luckily Hendon and Met Police were pretty rubbish so they were always below us, Tonbridge had a surge for safety around the same time as us but when we were grinding out draws, they were conceding late goals that meant defeats. In terms of footballing style, we were pretty good defensively and pretty poor going forward as you can see by the Goals For and Goals Against columns, this meant there were a lot of 1-0s going either way which were quite tense.
We didn't do too badly in the cups, reaching the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup and the 4th Round of the FA Trophy respectively. The finances took quite a plummet in the second half of the season and without a decent cup run next year, we'll be starting 2024/25 in the red.
The youth intake showed a lot of promise but not very much current ability which is really what we need if we're to stay up again next year. Mark Riley 23A is the pick of the bunch currently, and our new (and only) striker Ali Salum 23H scored on the last day of the season against Met Police to help us stay up.
Next season will be about clinging on for dear life again and hopefully getting some facility upgrades to get a better pool of youth players into the club.

Have been away over the weekend so haven't been able to properly start my Margate save until now.
First month of fixtures as Margate boss has gone better than expected with 2 wins, a draw and 2 defeats. The win away at Dover was very unexpected and I was impressed by the gutsy display to manage to nick all 3 points.
Next month sees us play both Dulwich and Oxford City who will finish near the top end of the table I imagine so it could be a tough month for us.

Koman is still Barcelona manager .............
Data lock was 25th October I believe. Koeman was sacked on 28th October so they couldn't add that in. Change it on the editor if it's that important to you.

Vanarama National South - Margate - Season 2
League Table | Transfers | Finances | Cups
Another season, another successful survival story. On the face of it, it looks like another 'by the skin of their teeth' story but it was more comfortable than last season. With 2 games to go we were 6 points ahead of Welling with a far superior goal difference so we were all but safe. This season we became draw specialists, achieving 18 draws in our 46 games, which can't have been too entertaining for the fans and I did get a few 'fans criticise Symbolic's tactics' in my inbox from time to time.
Our new young striker Ali Salum 01H was tasked with leading the line this year, due to being the only recognised striker at the club, and he did so with aplomb, managing 18 goals in 48 games for a team that are not the best going forward. In the cups we gave a disappointing showing in the FA Trophy, getting knocked out early on by Hampton & Richmond, but in the FA Cup we performed markedly better and got a little windfall earning a replay at Torquay United. That has all been spent now as the board allowed me to improve the youth facilities. Speaking of youth, we had 2 gems enter the team this year; those being Ethan Wilson 02A and Terry Beaton 02B, an attacking midfielder and striker respectively, meaning we should have some more firepower next season!
Again, the aim next season is to beat the drop and hopefully start to develop some of the young talent we have available.
