  1. I think Croatia will draw with Italy, and then I also see Ireland nicking a 2-2 draw as well.

As for France, I can see Ukraine scoring a late goal to win 2-1 which will see them qualify, and then we beat Ukraine 1-0 in our final game. Although I wouldnt be shocked in the slightest if this turned out to be wrong.

I like your predictions, but don't think I agree. Although, ROI getting a draw wouldn't shock me too much but I still fancy Spain, 3-0.

  2. I think Italy will draw their remaining two games to be honest.

At present I think in one two order it will go:

    Group A: Russia, Poland

    Group B: Germany, Portugal

    Group C: Spain, Croatia

    Group D: England, Ukraine

Just have a sneaky feeling that Ukraine will get the better of France and lose to us.

Big calls in no France or Italy. Although I'm not disputing your France prediction, they weren't very threatening against us but I would still be surprised if they didn't get through.

  3. I read that but there are also reports it's £3 million up front and £2 million in add ons and yet another place claims the deal could be worth £6 million with all the add ons.

Can't wait to see how he develops over the next couple of years.

Will be interesting to see how much game time he gets. Hopefully he'll get a few games under his belt.

  4. Tbh, thought that the LB was at fault for both goals. He was way too advanced and the Czech RB and AMR had acres of space behind. He was at fault for the Poland goal in their previous game too. Although the keeper could have probably done better.

At the other end of the scale though, Tomas Hubschman was rock solid in defense for the Czechs

I didn't watch todays games but I felt that in the first half against Poland, the Greek's left side of defence was very susceptible to attack and a lot of space was found here. Although, this was amended somewhat in the second half.

  5. Now there's something we can agree on tom, the standard of youth coaching in this country is appalling. One thing that Spain, Germany and Holland benefit from is a very high standard of coaching at an early age that emphasises technique over strength and size. Once we get this ingrained in our mentality we'll be sorted (though history suggests that strength, power etc are the English way so it may never change)

It's good to see the FA modifying the coaching courses at the minute to make them more difficult and to be more in depth, particularly the level 1, which is the only, if any, qualification most grass-root coaches have.

  6. Obviously the ideal combination is to play attractive football whilst winning however, it is very rare that this actually occurs in football. There are certainly a few exceptions as we look to Barcelona and Spain, but I think it's fair to say that teams are learning how to cope with their approach a lot more effectively and causing them to be less successful in their approach.

There are very few teams who can play attractive football in all situations. The aim of a competition is to win and to do so it makes sense to play to your strengths.

That said, I'd like to think in these next two games we will see some nice football from England between the front men of Young, Welbeck, Rooney, Chamberlain (if playing) etc.

  7. Milner as to play against France there is not another option. Ribery on the left will be too dangerous, so Milners job will be to mark him and sacrifice his own attacking play. Hence why he was probably the first name on the team sheet.

I agree. I was just saying how there are still decisions to be made, although, that particular one seems rather common-sense and for this game I should have perhaps left it out. Hodgson would be a fool to play someone like Walcott on Ribery's flank. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Ribery switch to the right throughout the game if we go with Chamberlain to exploit the space, although I'm sure he'd much rather be running at Johnson than Cole.
