Paulo III
Hey guys, I'm a bit new to this, and have been fiddling around with the data editor. What do I need to save the database as for it to be the default database for the game? I have FM'08 and a Mac Thanks in advance. Paul
Crpls
It will ask you which database you want to use when you click on 'new game.' Strictly speaking, the one it defaults to is whatever version of the game you're using, but it will always ask you, so it's probably safer to not save it over any of the various databases that come with the game/patches. Paulo III
Thanks. I've saved it and now FM is being really slow and unresponsive opening. Any ideas?
Paulo III
Oh, no worries, its opened now and I've got my database. Thanks for your help
Paulo III
Help!! England has gone from the list of nations for starting the game. I can't select any English leagues or clubs Any ideas??
Crpls
What changes (if any) did you make to England, or English competitions in the editor? Is England still there if you try one of the default databases?
Paulo III
I editted Liverpool's finances, added a B and C team in League 1 and 2 respectively, and added my own local team, and put them into League 2. I replaced Morecambe and Dagenham in League 2, but I have forgotten to replace anyone is League 1. Is that my problem? English leagues are still available with the default database. jod123
Yeah, that is the problem. You cannot change the number of the teams in any division. That must remain the same.
Paulo III
Ok, all sorted. I can select the English leagues now. But when I click start game, it gets about halfway through loading and then crashes!! Any ideas??
jod123
There is something wrong with what you edited which is causing the crash.
Paulo III
Any idea what? Is it the B and C teams I've added or players I've created?
Crpls
It may have to do with adding B and C teams to the English leagues. I've often thought of attempting this, but never have, so I'm not sure if it'll work or not.
Crpls
Did you create them as completely separate teams and then link them with affiliates, or as part of the already created Liverpool? Again, I'm not sure if that would change things or not.
Paulo III
I added them as new teams within Liverpool. I'm going to try removing them and replacing them with the original teams in the respective leagues and see if it works.
jod123
Yeah, it could be that. Post back to tell us what happened after you try the above.
Crpls
I added them as new teams within Liverpool. I'm going to try removing them and replacing them with the original teams in the respective leagues and see if it works. If it does end up being that, and you'd still like to know if it's at all possible, I'd try creating Liverpool B and C as completely separate teams and then link them through affiliates, checking both as using the same board and move freely. Paulo III
Sorry its taking so long to get you an answer on if it works... I added all 3 teams that I'd replaced, but not got rid of my local team, so again I couldn't find the English leagues!! I'll get it right at some point! Paulo III
Its crashed again while setting up the game! And that was with everything back to normal apart from some finances and my local team replacing Morecambe in League 2. I'm a bit confused :S
jod123
Maybe you have changed something accidentally in it or something. When crashes like that happen it is very hard to pin point what is at fault.
Paulo III
Hmm... Think its time to start over not to worry. I'll try the affiliate teams and let you know on that.
jod123
Ok, hopefully it works for you this time.
