Morton made to pay for missed chances

New boy Bob Davidson made an unsuccesful start to his Morton career as they went down 2-1 at home to Stirling Albion. Morton took the lead through Richie Hart apparently the only player who can hit the target for the Ton. Albion levelled through Di Giacomo, the loan star from Kilmarnock. Morton again missed a catalogue of oppertunities and the salt was vigourously rubbed in the wounds as the away team snatched a late winner.

Player spotted outside Morton training ground

Up and coming Celtic star Paul Lawson has been spotted outdside Greenock Mortons training ground which is suspected to be related to a possible move for the Celtic youngster it seems the deal would have to be a permanent one as Morton have just used their last Loan transfer brining in young Man Utd Striker David Poole. Brian McLean appears set to become a Morton man, the Gers youngster is a available on a free from the Gers.

Morton sign Poole on permanent deal

Greenock Morton have signed David Poole on a permanent deal, not a loan deal as first expected. The young English man was happy to complete the deal and aimed to get 1st team football straight away, this opens the door for Paul Lawsons loan deal to go ahead and not the permanent deal which was first thought. Adam Birchall another young striker this time of Arsenal is on trial with the Greenock club for a week with a view to a permanent deal and Brian McLean has put pen to paper on a 4 year deal to seal his move to Morton. On the downside for fans they are going to see Paul Walker one of the stars of the season move to Aberdeen for 12k, McKissock has said that if a big club came in for any players with the right money he wouldnt stand in their way of a big move and he has been true to his word.

Morton back to winning ways in the league

Morton defeated rivals Partick Thistle in a fantastic match with a superb tempo. Both teams created a good amount of chances and the first to take one was Morton. Richie Hart got his 23rd for the season and its was a rocket. Morton were looking comfortable until Emmanuel Panther netted a powerful header for 1-1 but the game was won in the 63rd min as sub David Poole scored a neat shot to take all 3pts.

Morton lose top players

Morton have lost Scott McLaughlin to Hamilton Accies. The move was a shock to everyone at Morton as they were not properly alerted to the deal or its terms, it cuts short the season long loan McLaughlin was on and infuriated manager Andrew McKissock and with only a few days to go in the market it is now imperative for him to snap up Paul Lawson with the MC still mulling over personal terms. Morton have also lost Paul Walker to Aberdeen although that was certainly not as frustrating as the McLaughlin deal and Stewart Greacen signed an agreement to move to Dunfermline at the end of the season for 14k.

Morton get one MC but lose one

Morton have got their man to replace Scott McLaughlin, Paul Lawson. Lawson signed on a 12month loan deal which sees McKissock very relieved to now have a replacement for McLaughlin. Mortons only other MC now is Paul McHale as Graeme Holmes has been allowed to leave for 5k to Hereford as he failed to break into the first team.

Morton dominate in one goal win

Morton won again by a 1 goal difference, this time 1-0 at home to Dumbarton. Bob Davidson netted the only goal of the game as Morton once again created a catalogue of chances, and missed them. Chris Templeman ought to be renamed Chris Invisible-man as he was non existant in the match and is frozen on 13 goals for the season. Once again it was left to the youngsters to score the goals and Davidson did not dissapoint with a strong header at the near post to get the win.

Rangers sack McLeish

In what was an unsuprising move David Murray has sacked Alex McLeish for the abysmal form the Gers have had this season. McLeish has made no progress what so ever and his dealings in the transfer market leave a lot to be desired. McLeish's only signing was Juan Sebo Veron while is sales include key players and Fans Favourites like - Fernando Rickson, Ian Murray, Alan Hutton, Chris Burke, Ross McCormack and Steven Thompson. The sacking comes only 24 hours before Rangers semi final match and only realistic chance at silverware against Morton in the League Cup at Hampden. Morton Manager Andrew McKissock spared no sympathy for McLeish saying that he fully expected his Morton side to push the Gers all the way and that the sacking of McLeish was the correct thing to do after he ruined a promising Gers side. McKissock a Rangers fan was livid at the way McLeish dumped top players for nominal fees and made no progress in bringing in more players.

Exclusive!! Interview with McKissock

Daily Record - How does it feel to have that trophey next to you?

McKissock - Out of this world, the teams we beat on the way their, the old firm especially, pays testament to how well the team has been playing and how things went out way, ofcourse their has been circumstances such as Rangers having their manager sacked the day before the match and Celtic with a less than full strength side but still we have done well to beat these teams.

Daily Record - You mentioned the team playing well, part of this team was Paul Walker who lined up against you yesterday and Stewart Greacen who is on his way to Dunfermline how much are you going to miss these players?

McKissock - They will be sorely missed, but i feel we have some top youngsters who we have been lucky to get, Brian McLean looks a fantastic prospect and Sam Tillen has been impressive too so there is an upside to this situation.

Daily Record - Well done, and thanks for your time.

Morton manager and player get top awards

Andrew McKissock and Tam Brighton recieved top awards in the second division this year McKissock was manager of the year and Brighton was player of the year beating team-mate Stewart Greacen who was second and Barry Sellars who was 3rd.

Daily Record - How do you feel after this fantastic season?

McKissock - Well its only just beggining to set in now that we have won a treble! Im over the moon we won the league cup and the Challenge Cup but the priority was certainly the league and im very happy with that.

Daily Record - One of the teams who you defeated and heavily criticised their former manger is your favourite side Rangers. They won the league this weekend despite being 13pts behind Celtic at Christmas, how do you feel about that?

McKissock - Well obviously im happy that they won the league but im very pleased the Chairman saw the need to give McLeish the sack otherwise it may have been a differnt story as the new manager certainly has them playing very well and they seem to have a great team spirit.

Daily Record - Staying on the subject of The Gers, you have a big connection with Rangers this season, loans for Bob Davidson and Jukka Santala and also the free transfer signing of Brian McLean aswell as released players Tam Brighton, Paul McHale and Andy Dick. Will their be further deals struck with Rangers for next season with any new players or any of the current loanees?

McKissock - We will have to see, im happy with most aspects of my team perhaps the only player we need is a right back and possibly a goalkeeper as Craig Coyle played in all 52games this season but when the time is nearer we shall see.

Daily Record - Congratulations on a fantastic season we look forward to next year!

Excellent story. Very impressive beating both Old Firm teams.

(I hope I am not littering your topic by posting this)

I started my current game as a Morton manager taking them to the SPL with 2 consecutive promotion and a Scottish Cup win. But how can you pay for all those new players? The Morton squad is also quite talented when you start there. Their right back Keenan is also an excellent player.

Just a note (comments). You sold topplayers like Weatherson (sold him for 500k end of S01 to Motherwell), Paul Walker & Steven Hislop way to cheap. Try selling to Gretna. Worked perfect in my game, I got 1 million Pounds for Hislop. I left in my 3rd season but they are still a solid midtable-side in the SPL at the moment (currently season 2009/2010). The challenge should be no problem if you continue your current run.

  • 2 weeks later...

sorry people i have had other stuff to do recently so i havent been playing, thanks suppity im grateful u appreciate it.

n1h dont worry feedback is very welcome. i can pay for those players by performing well, i started in season 1 with a 30k transfer budget also as i perform well in competitions i get bonuses from the chairman or through winning or reaching a certain round of a cup. I agree the Morton side is very talented when i arrive there thats why the 2nd division is so easy to win imo as Morton are too good for this league and it is a huge suprise they are still there atm in real life. Players i sold like weatherson and walker, well weatherson at the time i didnt need and i felt gettin 12k was a good deal, Paul Walkers deal was a very fragile one, A. I dont want to stop players leaving for top clubs thats not the way i do things and B. If i had demanded a higher fee i feel they may have pulled the plug on the deal again leading to the problem of him staying at a smaller club where he would be unsettled. With the funds i recieved from these transfers i felt i could do good buisness at my level for players i needed. Hislop i havent even sold so i dont know what your talking about there lol.
