Experts on corners and set-pieces wanted

I've never been really sure what to do exactly to make the set pieces work. I've tried planning my corners out on paper as in where I want every one to be and what do I want try and do with them. It has maybe kind of worked in the past (though I remember someone giving advice about it for FM08 and it turned out I could've done a whole lot better) but in this year's version I really don't know what to do.

I've tried using quick finishers at neast posts, tall guys to challenge the goalkeeper, having a short option and a second wave, but it usually seems to result in a whole mass of people in front of the goal and the ball just bouncing back to my half over my - poor excuse for a - second wave. So far, one goal I've gotten.

So how do you go about it? What have you found to be important when setting up for free-kicks and corners?
