Players swapping positions

I use a tactic with two Inside forwards in the wings. Left foot in the right, Right foot in the left.

Recently I've found out that we can tell two players to swap positions.

I like mobility in the front, so I told the Inside Forwards to swap positions in the match but the feature is a bit underwhelming because upon swapping the players receive the same instructions.

This means my Left foot AMR playing as an Inside Forward goes to the left wing and plays the same way... but his Left foot becomes an handicap.

I wanted my inside forwards to swap between each other but I wanted them to play as Wingers on the other side. The idea was to make a different attacking question for the defenders, in search of a weakness.

Can we do this?

Actually I wanted to take this one step further. My idea was once I had this working to also try to tell my Wing Backs playing in attacking CWB role to also swap and become Inverted Backs. I'm not sure it would work but I would like to test it.

The idea is to have the AM sitting narrower and going for the box while the overlapping WB stays wide. Once they swapped, it's the AM that goes wide and the overlapping WB cuts inside and aims to enter the box. Always having the best foot for each job at play.

I also tried to do this by personalizing player instructions. I'm not sure I did it right though. But it seems the instructions are player based whatever position he may play. So if I try to personalize my AMR in the AML position as a Winger it will also override the instructions he has for the AMR position and he will play as a Winger everywhere.

So... Is there a way to do this?

I may be mistaken, but if you go to the tactic screen, you can personalize which position you want that player and only that player to play. That way, when they switch in game, they should be playing a new role

Yes, but he said that it makes them play as a winger wherever they go. I think he might of done things in the wrong order however.

I managed to do it. I cleared the whole squad. Gave the instructions for the position, cleared the squad again and when I picked the players again it assumed the instruction only for the position and not anywhere... Thanks!
