Changing the colour of the default skin

Dear all,

I'm new to the whole skinning thing, and have enjoyed reading the basic guides to skinning posted here. My problem is that I'm lazy - although the default skin has its flaws, I couldn't be bothered learning to navigate my way round a new one! I think Flex and Steklo both look good, but I'd rather make my own skin - one which is basically the default skin, except with more transparency and which is black instead of white.

Could anyone either give me some guidance, or point me toward a thread where this has already been discussed?
