jameswing
Just a quick question, that could help me. As a general rule, mentality is advised to stay really close, to stop gaps appearing between lines of players that the opposition can exploit, however, if a direct tactic is to be employed, would it not be advisable to make the players more spread vertically as well as horizontally (width setting). I could decide to risk playing with larger gaps, or, is this what forward runs (runs from deep) is all about? so I could keep my midfield closer to my defense when defending, but when the ball is played forward to my striker, who has a very high mentality, to receive longer passes, the midfielders "run from deep" to support. And if this is the case, then high runs from deep are less beneficial with a slow short passing game.
