When I try to enter contract negotiations with my players the majority of them refuses with the reason being:

"My client is extremely interested in extending terms in general, but does not want to consider a renewal at this time. This is because any new contract would be on inferior terms to his current deal, which still has time left to run"

Okay, that sounds fair in certain situations but I have a wage budget of £524k p/a and currently spend £369k p/a. The only issue I can see is that my balance is -£200k.

I can offer up to £31k per year to any of my players but I can't get past the first refusal. Only three of my players make above £31k per year at the moment. Most of my players make around £7.5k per year. What really makes this weird is players like Baarregaard Valencia (attached image). He makes £0 per year. His deal expires in 5 months and he doesn't want to renew as it (according to him and his agent) would be on reduced terms when compared to his current deal.

Am I missing something obvious here? I've uploaded a save game with the name "druvo - Contract inferior terms".
