  • Player "loyalty" issue - desperately wants to join inferior club.

This has been an issue for years but seems worse this time around.

I'm managing Real Madrid, and PSG has made an offer for Vinicius Junior which I refused. Now, one of the annoying aspects of this is that after they've kept scouting him incessantly, he "desperately wants to join their club", due to their position in the league or such nonsense. Another part of the issue is that some of the most influencial players think he should be allowed to leave - why would they actively wish for their team to lose that kind of quality?. The Real Madrid team he plays for currently, as a star player, has won *everything*. It's only year 25/26. Last time I checked, La Liga is still rated higher than Ligue 1. Furthermore, it's really not that realistic having star players from the best team in Europe desperately wanting to join a much less succesful team in a less popular league. In my game, La Liga is ranked 2nd after the EPL and Ligue 1 is ranked 5th.

Every single career I've played, some of the other big teams manage to unsettle my star players just by scouting them constantly. More often than not, said teams have nothing better to offer. Why is it so? It's not like I can unsettle their players just as easily - no matter how much I scout someone, he never gets truly unsettled.

Do SI really think that, if Real Madrid manage to go all the way and win this years Champions League, Vinicius Junior will demand to be allowed to transfer to PSG if they made a bid for him? Even if they lose to Man City (a very likely scenario) it's extremely unlikely that Vinicius (or any other star player) would demand to be allowed to transfer to PSG if they made an offer.

Sorry for the rant-like post but it's a potential game killer.

Do you have a save file before Vini Jr gets unhappy? We'd be happy to investigate this further.

It's worth noting that there are plenty examples of players getting example after winning everything they can in their current league and wanting to test themselves elsewhere - Neymar and Mane two of the most high profile examples.

I'm afraid I don't have a save prior to Vini becoming unhappy. It's fairly easy to reproduce though, with any young world class player (at least when playing in Spain).

I can understand if players want a new challenge or would like to play in a better league at some point - Mane reportedly didn't like life under Klopp in the end and therefore decided to leave, and Neymar most likely left Barca to become the main man in a project that looked to make PSG the best club in the world - also his father was rumored to have had a falling out with Barca, causing him to lose his trust in them.

IF the FM series gave plausible reasons why players suddenly want to leave that would be fine. E.g. seeing Carvajal wanting to leave because he has achieved everything at Real Madrid is understandable. Alaba after two seasons at Real Madrid wanting to leave for England because it's a better league is less believable.

In the case of Vinicius (and many other young star players who havent' just transferred) all it takes to unsettle them and make them want a transfer is for the interested club to keep scouting them and show their interest in the player. When, as in this particular case, Vinicius (star player, used in most games) suddenly feels PSG is a much better option, despite Ligue 1 being a less attractive competition and PSG not really winning anything important (that part is pretty spot on, though), it feels unrealistic and kills the joy of trying to make a competitive team. In my game, Real Madrid is arguably the best team in the world - squad confidence is very high and everything is going great. Except when PSG comes knocking 15 times. Then their target wants to leave.

When was the last time, in the real world, a star player from Real Madrid (or any other world class club) who demanded to leave for another club?

My main issue with this is, as mentioned before, that happy players should be harder to tempt than this. Everytime Man. City og PSG starts showing interest in my players, I kow what's going to happen. First scouting, they don't want to leave the club. 10th scouting, they're desperate to leave.
