So many highlights begin with a set piece... I get not everyone can play like Pep Guardiola but really... No matter how I do my tactics it feels like 50-60% of the goals are set piece based and it's ruining the game for me. It was the exact same in FM22.
I've just tried doing a posession-based tactic after being sick of the set pieces from other tactics, completely different formation etc. And all I can score are penalties, and all I concede are throw ins and corners. It may as well be American Football.
Throw-ins: Throw in taker does a short throw to a teammate, who passes it back, throw in taker then launches a cross to the back post for a tap in goal. These goals happen so rarely in real life but in FM it's a clear cut chance from these every single game
Penalties: Not just the penalties themselves, but the fact that they're given from free kicks, throw ins, and corners! It's set piece inception. I can't remember the last time I saw a penalty given from genuine open play
Corners: An absolute nightmare until I just abandoned even training them and left it all to my set piece coach. Players unmarked on the outside of the box cause havoc, so even if it's not a goal directly from the corner lots of the time the ball is played back in by a random unmarked opposition player and is scored
Am I right in thinking that that this is it for FM24? No more ME updates?
EA get (rightfully) slated every year for not finishing games, yet SI get a free ride - release a game with bugs that have been in it for years, release two patches, then move on to next year's game with the same bugs. It's not good enough and eventually people will start to vote with their wallets.
