Are chairmans/directors to short sighted?

Recommended Posts

One of the things that really bothers me about FM14 is how short sighted directors/chairmans (or who ever is responsible for hiring/firing managers) are. They only judge manager performance based on last season. If manager of big club (Real, United, Chelsea, Barcelona etc.) don't win the title as expected they are dissatisfied for a month and then let it go and forget all about it.

This leads to situation where Ancelotti won only 3 titles and 1 ECL in his 12 years reign as RM manager and still had a job until he retired and as we all know this is possible IRL just as much as santa and leprechauns.

Same has happened to a lot of big clubs and because of this Chelsea hasn't finished higher than 4 in 6 years, Arsenal is battling relegation almost every other year, and Bayern had a spell of 5 years without winning anything.

I think that manager should be judged on 2 things:

1.) short term performance

2.) long term perforrmance

So if he don't win anything in 2-3 years (deppending on a club and their ambtion) he should be fired even if he finished 2nd all those years.

Cheers
