Earnshaw24
Hi people, Because there's no GENERAL help forum on this website I didn't know where to post so please move if neccessary. I recently attempted to install a new skin for my 2008 fm game however, after also copying and replacing the config.xml found in skins folder the game no longer works properly, so I was wondering if possible anybody could simply upload their config.xml file somewhere so I could get back to playing ? Thank you, Gareth.
Earnshaw24
Come on surely the world hasn't turned completely selfish yet? It will only take one minute.
isuckatfm
Close the game. Delete the new skin from your user folder (don't delete it but move all of the the contents of the skins folder in My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008 if you want to try using it again). Delete your cache folders Windows XP: 1. Open “My Computer” 2. Navigate to : “C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Application Data\ 3. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder. 4. Delete the “Football Manager 2008” Folder. Windows Vista: 1. Click “Start” 2. Click your username on the start Menu 3. Click on “AppData” and then “Roaming” 4. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder 5. Delete the “Football Manager 2008” Folder. Restart the game and it should be good to go.

I'm not to sure about deleting the entire football manager folder. If I delete the skin folder surely I'll never be able to have a new skin.
isuckatfm
Can anyone confirm this will work?I'm not to sure about deleting the entire football manager folder. The folders I said to delete are 'cache' folders. It's where FM stores various bits of info, including last skin used. If you messed with something relating to the last skin used this can cause issues with getting the game to start. By deleting this cache folder you will essentially force the game to revert to the original skin and allow it to start again. If I delete the skin folder surely I'll never be able to have a new skin. You are deleting the contents of the skins folder in the User Folder, My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008 As far as I know the config file you see came with the skin you downloaded rather than being something FM puts there when installed. In any case even if you don't trust me all I was doing was trying to save you the extra time it takes to reinstall. But in all that time of waiting it wouldn't have made a difference. So just uninstall the game, delete the cache folder as outlined previously and reinstall. If FM does place a config file in the User Skins Folder then reinstalling it will get it back (it's possible you will have to actually start the game for the folders to get created).
