iPhone 2D Match Highlights/ Commentary Comment

For the most part, the 2d 'match engine' is an elementary graphic showing very quickly whether a goal chance is successful or not. With this display, commentary is very, very basic. Commentary- only is a bit more in depth but still on the shallow side. If there are limitations hardware/softwarewise to go much beyond the current 2d 'flash' representation, why not place an emphasis on enhancing the commentary in the same manner of the FM/CM series before the 2d match engine? I would really like to know what is happening 'under the hood' of the ME and if intelligent commentary development would be less taxing on the platform yet enhance gameplay it should be pursued.
