Black_Waltz Posted December 10, 2010 Share Posted December 10, 2010 Hey guys, Been playing in the MLS as Toronto FC (Part of my long term plan to have Canada as World Champions). Anyway, done fairly well, having won the MLS once and been runners up twice. (I think the playoffs are extremely strange). Anyway, my leading defensive midfielder, De Guzman was on a designated player contract of £20,000 a week. Over the last year, I have been trying to re-negotiate his contract but the board wouldn't allow me to offer a DP contract and Guzman's agent (who hated me by the end of negotiations) wouldn't accept the maximum (£4,200) I could offer as a contract. Now he's left the club and the fans are extremely unhappy. Any idea what I could have done better? Right now I'm trying to mitigate the damage for the coming season, hiring some 30 year old Brazilian (Kiberson or somesuch) to help fill the gap, but I'd like to know whether I could have saved my star player.
