Keycode problem

I have PM 2009 and I have used steam to download and play this game, but steam is playing up so I have decided to reinstall PM 2009 without steam, But the activation code at the back of the booklet is so hard to read with the 0 and o looking the same, have tried various combos but nothing works,, really bad way of putting the code on the manual using dots, anyway Is there anyway that I can find what is what in respect of the 0 and o's.

Or is the game resigned to the bin a without the code I cannot play it
