Maradona has been appointed manager of Serbian Superliga side Red Star Belgrade on 18 month contract

The Argentinian Legend begins work at the Rajko Mitic Stadium with the club unveiling him at an official press conference on this afternoon. "Diego is a man who has done it all and with his help, I truly believe he can turn us into not only the number one club in Serbia, but also a real threat on the continent" said president Svetozar Mijailovic. "He has a wealth of knowledge about football in general and he has the hunger to succeed at a managerial level"

His arrival came with great fanfare where he was welcomed by over 20,000 chanting Red Star fanatics and ultras, who lit flares and red smoke bombs to signify his arrival. "I will make this club great again!" shouted Diego, via an interpreter, which was wildly celebrated on the streets outside of the Rajko Mitic Stadium. "The eyes of world football will finally see Serbia!" he continued.

FK Partizan fans riot after Mr Drezzy announced as new manager

Tonight, FK Partizan fans took to the streets to demonstrate their anger that an inexperienced person had been put in charge of first team affairs. Speaking anonymously to Sportski Zurnal, A prominent member of the fans association said "Whilst myself and many others don't condone the violence you see here tonight, you can understand it! Across the city, Red Star appoint a world renowned icon where as we have to be happy that our new manage is a little known Englishman who couldn't cut it for the Crewe reserve team?"

During a low key press conference, Mr Drezzy angered fans even further when he said "Going forward, this is a rebuilding mission. We have to work with what we have and it is my job to make sure we can steady the ship"

FK Partizan ULTRAS run riot! Attack team coach after 3-3 friendly draw, Red Star unstoppable?

Following a poor showing in pre season, Mr Drezzy appeals for calm whilst Maradona captures Red Star hearts.

By Sportski Zurnal, Updated 30/07/17

Mr Drezzy has appealed for calm following Partizan's poor form during pre-season. During their 3-3 draw with Slovacko, where they came back from 3-0 with only ten minutes to gobefore fulltime, the fans began fighting with the police whilst also hurling abuse at the beleaguered Englishman. Bottles and coins pelted members of the Partizan coaching team before Partizan scored their opening goal. "I understand the fans frustrations but there needs to be patience. We are learning a new system and sadly, this cannot be done overnight". Whilst Partizan are still tipped to challenge for the league title, their odds have dropped significantly whilst Mr Drezzy is the favourite to lose his job first, not just in Serbia but also across the entire continent of Europe.

Meanwhile, Diego Maradona is enjoying life in the Serbian capital. He's already worshipped like a God by the Red Star fans and it seems if he and his team can do no wrong, following a convincing pre-season by defeating Ruzomberok, Mattersberg, Teplice and Smederevo

Australian Football Federation: We are ready

FIFA have buckled in to pressure from leading politicians and footballing bodies, such as UEFA, and have announced that due to worries about the summer temperatures and a reluctance to rearrange the footballing calendar entirely, Australia will host the World Cup in the months of June and July of 2022. The Qatari sports minister has said that they will appeal the decision.

FK Partizan face a short trip to Bosnia to play unfancied HSK Zrinjski Mostar, a tie in which Mr Drezzy is openly confident of navigating. "I think the draw could have been a lot harder for us" said Mr Drezzy following the draw. "We are coming on leaps and bounds and I'm sure the team is ready to kick on and put what they're learnt into practise."

Diego Maradona said he "doesn't care who Red Star play" after drawing Georgian outfit Dynamo Batumi. He laughed " I've never even heard of them, we will win for sure"

Red Star crash out of Europa League

Red Star fans love Diego Maradona, despite disappointing exit from Europe.

MARADONA.jpg

By GOAL.COM, Updated /07/17

Red Star manager Diego Maradona was left wondering how on earth his side crashed out of the Europa League following two feisty encounters with Dinamo Batumi. Having lost 2-1 at home, despite controlling the match and hitting the woodwork no less than 4 times, they had it all to do in Georgia. Despite winning the second game 1-0, Maradona's Red Star side were left red in the face dropping out of European competition courtesy of the unfancied Batumi side. Diego blamed the poor pitch in Georgia and said UEFA should punish his opponents. In the first half, Red Star had to use all three substitutes due to injury and in the second half, they found themselves down to just 9 men after two more players had to exit the field of play due to injury. "You couldn't let sheep graze on that grass, let alone play football" shouted an irate Diego Maradona. UEFA refused to comment.

FK Partizan 5 - 0 Ludogorets

Partizan take huge lead into the second leg

By Partizan.RS, Updated 07/17

FK Partizan Stadion: Att 30,633

Partizan took advantage of a timid Ludogorets team who were having trouble retaining possession and the deadlock was broken on 22 minutes when Miletic scored with a beautiful header. 10 minutes later, Ozegovic doubled Partizan's lead, converting Ivanovic's cross. Partizan added a third in the 37th minute when Jovanovic pounced on a terrible back pass, sliding the ball into an empty net. Partizan took their foot off the gas a little in the second half but Ludogorets capitulation was complete when Kosovic converted two penalties (59 minutes, 63 minutes) after two ridiculous hand balls.

Partizan through!

By UEFA.COM, Updated 07/17

Ludogorets Arena: Att 1,542

On a rainy Wednesday evening, the Bulgarian locals had decided against attending the game and who could blame them? Neither team tried that hard, Ludogorets were on a damage limitation excersise whilst Partizan were happy to knock the ball around in their own half. Two goals either side of half time for the visitors, secured their passage to the next round of the Champions League whilst Ludogorets will be wondering how it went so badly wrong in the reverse fixture.
