Player changes nationality mid season

Playing in the GB Elite League and signed the player Jeff Legue to center my 3rd line. Legue was born in Canada but is eligible for the UK as well (he has actually played for Team GB 4 times). When I signed him his nationality was defined as GB, so he didn't count as an import (this is the main reason I went for him specifically) but midseason he has suddenly changed to Canadian putting me over the 12 import player limit and meaning I can no longer play him.

Is there some way to change him back or make it so that players with secondary GB nationality don't count against the import cap?
