Stupid question about how player preferred positions affect performance.
I have a player whose natural position is WBL, and is accomplished as ML. But, I think he has the perfect qualities to play a LB.
Does the match engine automatically discount the performance or ability of a player if he is not playing in his preferred position? Does this also affect minor differences (for instance, would someone perform better on average if the position is Natural as opposed to Accomplished)? If this is true, does it training a player to play a new position really matter?
Or is the preferred position just an indicator for us to see where the player is most adept playing at?
