  1. I want to comment on the FMT Editor issue, which has been locked because of ranting.

Just now I purchased Football Manager Touch 2021, as I tend to buy some version of FM in the build up to the English season. This is the time of year I'm most excited about football AND less able to get a fix from other mediums (radio coverage, news sites, fan forums, TV).

I've been playing since 1993 and have drifted in and out to varying degrees of commitment. The feature that really counts for me at any point in time is the ability to initiate a game with the latest player and club data.

I'm sure the SI release schedule is a well founded blend of practical milestones in the footballing and consumer calendars - I wouldn't really know. It doesn't really matter to me, so long as I have the ability to download a half-reputable data update.

Having just bought FMT and discovered I'm locked into uninspiring and bygone team rosters, I'm lamenting my return to Football Manager (last seen 2019), and have just uninstalled.

I can see the difficulty in developing and maintaining across mobile and desktop, and how the ability to use custom data is not of sufficient benefit to justify development resource, app overhead, user confusion etc. However, the monolithic update schedule is deeply unexciting for players.

My use case may be fringe, but I can imagine n amount of silent users who's experience is similar - firing it up and being turned off. This is my repeated experience of Football Manager over the years, along with full fat FM being too involved and time consuming. There is no happy medium.

Custom data has massive interest in terms of user generated content to both keep the game up-to-date and introduce novelty scenarios, and god knows what else. If you can't do user-gen, then at least keep the data updated.

Just a thought for a radical solution: could you have an official fan governed data update intersperse the official data updates? I.e. double the app-pushed data update frequency, but absolve SI of the integrity, and have a fan community govern the data through some kind of innovative system of organisation (think in terms of DAO, though that may not be best structure). It might actually be useful for engagement.

Until I can play with up-to-date data in the build up to the English leagues, I won't be playing. Probably not much loss for SI, though I had been playing with my son, who has now gone back to Civ 6 / Stardew Valley / Minecraft. Likewise, he is unimpressed and disinterested by the old data.

I won't hold my breath, I'll keep wasting money on FM titles I never play... but I live in hope for a renascence.
