  1. When I trying to pre-order Football Manager 2018 via SEGA, on the details page, the 'Countries' list is not showing up so therefore unable to proceed (Mandatory field). I've tried in Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer 11 and Chrome.

Couldn't find a  'Contact Us' page on the website, so trying through here :)

Update :- I found the 'Support' page, so contacted them directly. Thanks

  2. Would Jonjo Shelvey work as a CM in this tactic? As he doesn't have good defensive stats, 8 for tackling etc.

Bear in mind he is only 17 but the most i've seen his tackling attribute go up to is 11. He also only has 10 for pace & 8 for acceleration.

I'm only playing in the SPL though.

Would he be ok to use there?

Shelvey has been great in my Liverpool squad and improves a lot. For defence check out Jordan Spence for the future.

  3. I'm using the unbeated final classic and trying to follow the team talk guidelines offered in the OP. Maybe Liverpool have injury prone players?

I've been playing Liverpool for 3 seasons now and won the league every time.

In my first season I purchased Ashley Young and he played up front with Torres and Rodriguez. Also used Kuyt and Pacheco ( more for experience ) played up front.

In my first season I also bought Shelvey and Huddlestone. Sold Riera, Babel and Benyuon ( know idea of spelling ) for funds.

I usually let my AM do the team talks and change the praise for 8+ players ratings at the end of the game to the best option.

    Cheers,

    Boony

  4. This probably is due to them playing at a very near or maximum ability level. Once this is reached you will not see many changes for players aged from like 24 to 31 or 32. You could technically force a shift though by either having him injured or not playing for quite some time, this way he loses CA which you then can fill back through playing him and support the areas where it should go by a somewhat biased schedule.

Thanks Declyn, it didn't cross my mind that they may have reached PA.

  5. Hi Guys,

On the player profile screen, does anyone have an idea on how long the 'Show recent attribute changes' arrows are there for.

I've have developed some schedules based on these ideas and Prozones spreadsheet, but I'm not sure if any of the attributes are really changing apart from the one or two. For most players they seem to have remained static, this is over 3 seasons.

I'll have to load the players into a database and do some analysis.

I've been running 4 clubs, Liverpool, Leeds, Stevenage and Newcastle Jets. Liverpool have obviously got great facilities and my lowest training category is 4.5 stars and over 20 coaches. The Leeds facilities are not bad too.

    Cheers,

    Boony

  6. I seem to struggle a bit when you are a team 'out of your league' as such.

With these tactics I've managed to get Stevenge promoted to the Championship in successive seasons, and with limited resouces it gets challenging, especially when your top goalkeeper and main striker 'want to move to a bigger club' and the wage budget grows with only a 7000 seater stadium :(

I can't complain too much though they are still exceeding expectations at this stage with these tactics, played 14, won 5, drew 7 and lost 2. They have scored 29 and conceeded 26 :( They are currently sitting in 8 place (media predition 24th) and their last game was a 4-4 draw with Reading, who are sitting in 20th place.

With regards to tactics I did try the AMC one for a bit and then back to the DH/JP final version with CD tweaks.

Not sure if the CD tweaks were working for me ( I manage 4 teams at once ) so now gone back to that version without the tweaks, results seem to be a little up and down more in my 3rd season...makes it fun though and I'm finding that I seem to be paying more attention to what is happening on the field.

Yes, I know I've only played 14 games and I'm changing tactics.

Do you think the players will need to get use to a tactic again if they have been playing it most of the previous season?

    Cheers,

    Boony

PS England job became available so resigned from Brazil and got that one. :)

  7. Hi Mr Hough,

I've been using you tactics for three seasons with my Liverpool squad and with the great success I've had, they are finally expanding the stadium and naming it after me :)

With regards to your comments about the England tactics earlier, I'd agree. Hopefully the new Liverpool manager ( whoever that maybe, not Hodgson I hope ) already uses your tactics :)

With my other teams I'm managing, Leeds finished 7th in their first season in the Prem ( above expectations ), Stevenage finished 1st in Divison One ( Not sure how they are going to cope in the Championship though, didn't want them to get promoted straight away ). Newcastle Jets won everything except the World Club Cup.

For season three I have been using your version with JP Woody and towards the end I changed to your final version and have also tried your joint version with JP Woody, moving the closing down to middle +2.

  8. Hi, first of all thank you for this amazing thread.

It took me a hour to read everything and understand it.

I just have few questions about the GK training and the Pre-season one.

The new Goalkeepers training is for all categories (1st choise, Veteran & Developing)?

And what about pre-season? Do you make a special training for outfield players and Goalkeepers?

    Thanks for helping me.

Also can someone tell me how do I have to use the Short/Long term injuries training? After each injuries?

I forget a question, what about the DM training? Do you know how I can make it?

As grimness said you can use the CM one for your DMs, however I would suggest using ProZones helpful spreadsheet to customise the training for your players.

The recently uploaded goalkeeper schedule by SFraser can replace all the other goalkeeper ones.

I developed my own DM schedule based on the spreadsheet and the tactics I am using.

I also do not do a Pre-season schedule.

    Cheers,

    Boony

  9. why i can be like other people? my team keep struggling at home and away...i use all teamtalk that were suggested...and my striker only score 1 in 20 game and it was DZEKO !!

i lost against bologna, inter, milan, munich, chievo, roma, fiorentina and napoli in my first season and win just 1-0,2-1,3-2, and i were juve...my player is still buffon, chellini and otamendi, ansaldi and forren,sissoko,marchisio,melo,delpiero,dzeko,amauri.. arghh ..

i know all of u might think i was noob !!

Not at all, I don't regularly get high scores and I have a strong Liverpool squad.

Dzeko has been great for me, in fact he has just won player of the year. I do find that my strikers go though goalless spells though, including Dzeko and Torres. When I first got Ashley Young he often went over 400 minutes before scoring.

Which tactics have you been playing?

    Cheers,

    Boony

  10. thanks :) im going to download a few tactics and try them out, ive re-read my post and it sounded quite rude, so im sorry for that and do appreciate the work and time/effort involved in developing a tactic, something which i could never do myself.

I signed Ashley Young for my Liverpool team and he has been great. He has certainly got better and better.

He is a useful player too as he can be one of the three up front, the AMC if you pull the central striker back and is also happy in midfield.

He is one of my star bananas in the squad and well liked by the team.

He even played well on Mr Houghs winger test tactic he once posted. Villa has some good players in their team.

    Cheers,

    Boony

  11. Hey guys that are using Mr Hough and JP Woody Final Version 10.3 Everton 2009.

What are your 3 strikers respectively, the Left Striker, Middle Striker and Right Striker?

    I have a selection of

    (left and right)

    Damien Le Tallec

    John Fleck

    Steven Fletcher

    Bojan

    Yannis Tafer

    (Middle)

    Carlton Cole

    Marco Borriello

However only Tafer can get 1/2 the goals he starts. The rest are all not very prolific.

I have about 80m of transfer funds but I really like the stats of them (Pace, Finishing, Composure) so I haven't been buying.

Edin Dzeko is great in any of these positons. He's been fantactic in my Liverpool squad. I had to pay 29.5 million for him, but he has been worth it. His first season was played 28, Goals 20, Assists 15, MOM 4 and average rating 7.85. In my 2nd season with him, played 4, goals 5, assists 0, MOM 1 and average rating 7.88

I rotate my front three, with Torres, Dzeko, Pacheco, Ashley Young and Nemeth. Pacheco and Nemeth don't score much, but seem to contribute a lot during game play. I'm mainly playing them to get there game experience up.

It maybe worth looking at Jonathan Cristaldo as well. I managed to get him in the 2nd season for Leeds ( So Championship Player for 2 million. Couldn't get a work permit in season 1 ), but now in the Prem and he's playing really well.

I tried to get Tafer on a free transfer for Leeds, but he turned me down.

    Cheers,

    Boony

  12. Can you tell me where you play Dzeko? I ask because I'm always unsure how to play the target man type strikers in these tactics.

I've played him at all three positions in my Liverpool squad and he's been fantastic. I played him mainly as the central striker, but with Torres as well I'm spoilt for choice.

After winning everything in my 2nd season with Liverpool, currently on a 64 unbeated games run, I have acepted the Brazil National Job, let's see how they handle Mr Hough's tactics. :)

I've been using the Mr Hough/ JP Woody version.

    Cheers,

    Boony

  13. Hi Mr Hough / JP Woody

I've had very good results with your new tactics, first Mr Hough's Final version then changed to the joint venture during the season.

I have been playing in my 2nd season with Liverpool (EPL), Leeds (Championship), Stevenage (2nd Div), Newcastle Jets (Austraila A-League)

Liverpool were largely unchanged from the first season when I bought Jonjo Shelvey, Ryan Shawcross, Ashley Young and Tom Huddlestone, I like to get English players if I can and had pre-season games to adapt. In the 2nd seasson I just bought Edin Dzeco for 29.5Mil. He has been great, mostly played as the middle striker with Young and Torres. I've been slowly introducing Shelvey since season 1 and he has been great in the middle of the park in season 2, my Gerrard replacement I think. I just beat Blackburn in the FA Cup semi final, which was my 59th game unbeaten ( been close a couple of times, 90th minute goal against Sunderland I remember by Dzeco ). The league stats at this time are 33-28-5-0-98-18-89 ( Pld, Won, Drn, Lst, For, Ag, Pts ) 15 points above 2nd placed Arsenal. Won Carling Cup, in Semis of Champs League, in Final of FA Cup. Last season I managed to win the league and Champions League with you other tactic version, mainly Classic.

With Leeds I brought in a lot of new players trying to prepare for the next step, I wasn't anticipating promotion to Prem this season, but with 3 games to go, Champions of the Championship. In the 2nd season a regen striker called Wilson has been great and I finally managed to get Jonathan Cristaldo with the work permit being granted. My main front three are Cristaldo, Beckford and Wilson ( Regen ), although I have rotated him a bit with Snodgrass and he has been awsome. Only scored 8 goals in 28 games, with 21 assists and an average rating of 7.37. Because of the many new players I added, results were a little up and down to start with. I did ensure I did always play established players in the games though, like Snodgrass, Howson, Kisnorbo, Beckford. There league stats at this time are 43-31-8-4-116-53-101 ( Pld, Won, Drn, Lst, For, Ag, Pts ) 12 points above 2nd place.

Stevenage have also exceeded expectations in League 2. With 6 games to go they have got promotion ( this worries me though as I don't think the team is ready for league 1 and finances are poor ). I haven't changed their side too much ( no funds ), got Ashley Grimes for free in 2nd season and a better DMC (Stuart Kettlewell). During the season I managed to pick up the odd player. Their league stats at this time are 41-30-6-5-94-36-96 ( Pld, Won, Drn, Lst, For, Ag, Pts ) 15 points above 2nd place.

With Newcastle Jets I won the league by 4 points, Their league stats are 27-18-4-5-80-29-58 Pld, Won, Drn, Lst, For, Ag, Pts ). Won the Grand Final 5-1, some of the games these guys played, they just destroyed teams, I have a 9-0 and 3 6-0 wins. My star men up front were Matt Simon ( free season 2 signing), Marko Jesic ( already at the Jets, wondering why I never played him in season 1 ) and Michael Baird ( free in season one ).

What I've been trying to do since starting this save is bring youngsters for game experience, I think this is were I lose a few games, but it has to be done, worked wonders with Shelvey and Krisztian Nemeth ( Liverpool ) when he comes back from loan. Also helped Daniel Pacheco as well.

During my 2nd season Liverpool were sold and Jim Fagan ( the new director ) upgraded the Youth facilities to state of the art and gave me 80 million for purchases before the January transfer window. The thing is I don't need anyone, well I eventually bought Fabian Delph for 15 mil.

With regards to Semi-Pro, lower teams I struggled with Ayr United and was sacked (finished bottom, expectation I think and this was with classic tactics etc and I kept messing about with the team then....lessons learnt), then took a job at Chester in November who were now 18th in the BSN, but struggled getting players etc and evenually resigned after moving them up to 11th. Chester were more frustrating because their expectation was for potential promotion. It's very hard to get the players motivated again once the Morale is very poor.

I've just started looking at these team talks, previously I was just using AM to do the job. I wasn't using OIs, but have started to use the AM for them as well ( not sure if it makes a difference or not at this stage ).

Anyway, I seem to be rattling on and this thread is about you tactics, I'm basically in agreement with most other people in this thread. Great tactic guys.

    Cheers,

    Boony

PS It will be nice if the real life Liverpool emulate me next season...new owner, sign Dzeco....and win the lot ( alright maybe not the Champions League )

  14. Wingers tactics can work, I've been using Mr Hough's BETA tactic with Leeds and they have won Div 1 with 4 games to spare.

I admit they area a strong team in the league, Snodgrass has been great on the left wing, and Kisnorbo, in defence, has been my player of the year. A little more challenging for them in the Championship so we will see how we go next season, depends on the budget I get, but I think the team is strong enough to stay in that league next season.

Did try the winger tactic for a while with Liverpool, and on top, 4 points clear with 3 games to go. Although mixed their tactic with the classic.

Ayr didn't work with any formation :-( Got relegated.

Stevenage loved the Classic tactic, promoted with 6 games to go. Could be a challenge in Div 2.

Newcastle Jets made it to the Grand Final, but lost 1 nil, using classic tactic.

One thing I have noticed, maybe just tired players, but defence seems to be a little more leaky towards the end of the season.

    Cheers,

    Boony

  15. Hi Mr Hough,

A shame you have discontinued with that winger tactic.

I've only used it with Liverpool and Leeds and it seems to be doing well, both teams top of their respective leagues.

They are strong teams I suppose though.

I have been using the classic tactic with Stevenage and they are 12 points clear now.

Ayr still struggling, looks like relegation for them, also using classic, hopefully your new tactic coming out will help them stay a little more solid. Have tried the version 2 tactic, but still struugled.

    Cheers,

    Mark

  16. Can someone give me some basic advice regarding these tactics, how to best use them etc. I started a game with Dundee using the CGS tactic and had mixed results. Granted the team is awful and I didn't buy any players. I was just wondering are there are do's and dont's regarding this tactic.

In terms of getting the right players in, does anyone have any advice, because I am finding that trying to get players with high stats in all the attributes listed on the opening page is very difficult.

If possible can someone explain the roles of each of the positions in the tactic, for example is the anchor mans job just to defend the front four or does he need to be able to instigate attacks also with his passing? I am thinking of low level league clubs as opposed to the highlevel teams. Thanks.

Not as bad as Ayr :( but I stuck with the tactic ( V2 ) and went 3 games in a row without being beaten. Dundee just beat me 2-0 :(

What I've found in my games is that my strikers have taken a little time to click.

For example I bought Willy Topp for Stevenage and it took around 9-10 games before he started being the star man with goals and MOMs. It was also the same for Torres at Liverpool, one goal in 11, I evenutally moved him to the middle position and change it to the complete striker as he has great stats, now getting MOMs and goals.

Just lost my striker Mark Roberts to injury for Ayr ( scored 11 in 14, in league 9 of 9 ), so now I struggling to score again :( Got to the final of the Challenge Cup :) Just hoping to stay up this season. My problem has been defence.

Leeds are going well and Beckford is on fire at the moment, although I have changed their tactic and created a winger tactic via the Wizard. Will try Mr Houghs winger tactic for Leeds soon, and maybe for Liverpool as I feel they are both strong enough for the leagues they are in.

Your strker Lee Griffiths looks good, if you can get Willy Topp that maybe enough up front to keep you going. Not sure what Dundees expectation is. As for at the back, still looking :-( Jon Ashton has been solid for Stevenage, average rating 7.55 from 17 appearances and 5 goals.

  17. No offense to anybody, but what is the point of using a tactic that somehow exploits the ME? I skimmed through this thread and saw that this is some kind of miracle tactic, allowing anybody to have great success. This means that if I take this tactic and use it for my team chances are I will win every domestic competition without any struggle, and I'm supposed to be happy then??

ME in FM2010 is very good, but if you dig deep you will find one way or another to exploit some flaws in the engine. FYI, by exploit I don't mean an exploit like the famous corner exploit. I'm talking about finding a formation and specific instructions for every one of your players that AI cannot come up with, and one that will give you a clear advantage over all the AI controlled teams. At that point the game is not fair any more.

So I'd never use a supertactic in my game. I just don't see any point in playing this way, knowing that my Barcelona team will destroy any AI team. But that's just me. I was just surprised to see so many people playing FM just want to win, and that's it. Anyway, enjoy your super winning tactic gentlemen :)

To backup what DirtyACE is pointing out

It's a very good tactic for many people, but to be honest I've struggled with it a little, I'm certainly not thrashing teams.

I'm currently playing 5 teams at once, Liverpool, Leeds, Stevenage, Newcastle Jets and Ayr Utd.

With Liverpool, I played 5 and lost 2 of those, in pre-season my biggest win was 5-0

Leeds are doing well with played 7, won 5, drew 1 and lost 1, but no big wins 3-0 at home to Stockport the best.

Stevenage are 3rd, played 9, won 6 and drew 3, but biggest score has been 2-0. Defence seems to be strong

Ayr are getting stuffed, at the bottom, played 6, won 1, drew 1 and lost 4. Conceded 19 and scored 10

Newcastle Jets are similiar to Stevenage.

What I'm trying to say is that for me I've had mixed results and frustrating times, especially Ayr, you still need to work at getting results and exploiting your opponents weaknesses :-) I'm sure that's what happens in the 'real' world :-)

I'll stick with it though, and I'm pleased I have to work at the results etc.

I have found that when the team does play badly, many players can have a 5 rating...maybe they don't like the tactic :-(

Mr Hough, that guy giving you stick a while back.....Ayr would have been a good challenge :-)

Thank you for your efforts and I'm going to keep plugging away.

    Cheers,

    Boony

btw, I don't use the corner cheat version.
